View Full Version : Casino Royale Premiere
Looks like I might be going to the cinema tonight... Although I won't be sitting in the same cinema with the celebs I still get to see it before anyone else with maybe a few celebs thrown in ;)
Yay! :D

Gayle managed to get a couple of tickets as one of her clients (she works at one of the bar/restaurants in the West End) is having a dinner/cinema function.
I persuaded her not to take a smelly boy :p

I'm not a Bond fan, but this is one film I actually want to see.
Yeah I can't make my mind up about Daniel Craig...wasn't happy with him at first and then I saw the muscles! To be honest they don't really suit him..
BB x
Edit: have started a thread in Music and BO over there which will probably get closed ho hum... :D

I'd like to see it because I've watched every Bond other than the original Casino Royale more than once(I couldn't even bring myself to watch it right through) but I just can't get over the idea of a ginger Bond, it doesn't seem right. Nevermind that the quintessential 'English' secret agent was never intended to be English according to the books but I guess it would be rather difficult to get the correct mix of nationalities so if Mr Craig is good all is forgiven and he does have a great first name at least. ;) :)
Lucky sod :(
I'm hoping to maybe see it at the weekend but it'll be in a very small cinema and most likely by myself as no one round here seems interested in it :undecided:
This is the only Bond film bar Goldeneye that I've looked forward to in a while. It seems more gritty and darker. He's got a funny upper lip overhang though :p
You lucky girl - I am very envious....
Take Jay, for the love of god!!!! Maybe he will shut up about it ;)
Between this and Muse..... I'm starting to hate you :D

Take a camcorder in and record it please ;) :p
I don't have a camcorder :embarassed:
Will have a full review of it though! :)

Stream it from your phone! lol! ;D
Look forward to hearing about it. No spoilers though please ;)

Not really bothered by Bond anymore. Got all of them up to Goldeneye
Boghopper Brosnen killed Bond for me. He was imho crap.
Although the films themselves were pretty dire and the movement from practical to CGI effects hasn't done them any favours. The Aston Martin Vanish ffs..
Oh and the last 2...
Die another day and The World is Not Enough.... Fast cut editing, no long shots at all. Absolutely painfull to watch.
Bond for the short attention span generation.

I wish Daniel Craig had the face to match the body :(
~Yeah he's a got dodgy lips and a bit of a gormless look to him doesn't he?

I almost got the part of James Bond but for the Geordie accent and the highlights.
I am looking forward to this one too. I had to pull out from the premiere as they couldn't guarantee my security from the baying mob of girls.
I had to turn it down myself... they ran out of wax for chest hair extraction...

Never been a big fan of Bond films - probably never will be.
I enjoyed Live and Let Die - maybe it was the voodoo dancing and snakes or something.
Most of the other Bond films I've watched have seemed forced and contrived - as if the writer has been forced to squeeze out another screenplay but been constrained to keep to the same formula but at the same time try to be original.
The only way to go really, is to write less credible material but keep the same basic storyline:
International criminal mastermind threatens the safety of the world, 007 is called to HQ, flirts with Miss Moneypenny, gets briefed by M, gets given some implausibly advanced gadgetry by Q, jets off to exotic locations, taunts bad guy, seduces/gets seduced by International criminal mastermind's concubine/right hand woman, several car/boat/plane/helicopter chases, several shoot outs, infiltrates bad guy's secret lair, gets captured by bad guy, bad guy taunts him and sets up some ridiculous contraption to kill him slowly and then leaves, aforementioned concubine/right hand woman rescues him because she's fallen for him, 007 blows up secret lair and escapes in liferaft/submarine/dinghy etc shagging newly converted ex adversary - the end.
Bit trite for my tastes.
Stan :)
Hee hee... you won't see me I was drinking with the stars! :D
Never been to L Square for a Premiere before and was shocked at all the barricading etc etc-obviously because HRH was there but was a brill night nonetheless...:)
Summed up in a sentence alone the film was:
Wowsers,runrunrun,Coolcoolcool,yay,ears,phwoar,pla cementplacementplacement,nicecars,fitbod,bangbangb ang,minger,redredred,noooooooooooooo!!!bangbangban g,missing-nodon'tthinkso,dark,he-man,smartsingle,runrunrun,ouchouchouch,wtf?PUSHTHE REDBUTTON!
Don't think there is any spoilers there ;) going to say a bit more in my thread on the other side but with a spoiler warning.
Cookie to anyone who can list my references above in bold ;)

Yeah :/ He's certainly not at all bad looking but his body is :jawdrop: while his face is more :)
And I don't even usually notice good bodies ;D
I couldn't decide tbh, I was like yeah/no/yeah/pwhoarrrrrr!!!! - but am I only saying that because he's JM and in a tux? :p
Hmmm... time will tell.
The girl was good though.

It is deffo gritty and dark, and the women are tres sexy (too skinny:P - but this is made up for the fact I don't think they are 100% stunning)

*wants to go and see Casino Royale*
Anyone in London and fancy abusing 'Orange Wednesdays' next week?
it was one with Brosnan I think where he leapt into a plane or something from a plunging helicopter or something like that.
I met the skydiver that did that stunt. 'kin cool hard arse bastard.
I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing this.

The only way you can see a film in London!
Glad you liked it Kitten :) I still can't make up my mind about Daniel Craig...sometimes I look at him and think 'God no - the ears!' and others its like 'PHWOAR!!! Hubba hubba bring it on baby!!!' :D

I mean... an invisible car :/ that's just laziness!!
the other thing about that which annoyed me was if the cameras projected what they saw around them, why when Bond was crouching behind was he not shown to be hiding there?
Great stunt but the films had begun to delve into the realms of fantasy, which is when I lose interest (unless it's a fantasy film - it's ok then!). I mean... an invisible car :/ that's just laziness!!
I know exactly what you mean. I did like Goldeneye it was the new Bond, it was pretty decent and quit efun - but that was it. I liked all of the old bond ones my favourite being Never Say Never.
that was the first real sort of 'grown-up' film I ever saw on the flix
Was it the one where the girl got drowned in the table? Or was that octopussy?
It had Kim Basinger in it and a Renault 5 GT Turbo. The "Tears of Allah" hidden underground lagoon. Cruise missles which crashed into the water. It had a big superyacht called "Octopussy" believe it or not - though that's it's name in real life not what it was in the film.
Fantastic film.
Yes that was octopussy. :)
*move along, nothing to see*
Mrs. Feek and I are going on Tuesday. It's her day off, I've taken a day off so we'll go during the day when it hopefully won't be full of screaming brats.
Saw it yesterday and it was utterly awesome!
If you hate Bond, watch it, it's nothing like the others. If you love Bond, watch it, it's how Bond should be. the thing that struck me was the other films Bond was the same person just a different actor playing him each time. In this one it doesnt seem to be the case.
Excellent!
Disappointing I’m afraid. Disappointing because this was sold to me as an action movie, and it clearly wasn’t for 75% of it. The closest description I can come up with is romantic thriller, which is not what I wanted to see. I wanted to see an action movie, and with action movies I expect to see this:
Wowsers,runrunrun,Coolcoolcool,yay,ears,phwoar,pla cementplacementplacement,nicecars,fitbod,bangbangb ang,minger,redredred,noooooooooooooo!!!bangbangban g,missing-nodon'tthinkso,dark,he-man,smartsingle,runrunrun,ouchouchouch,wtf?PUSHTHE REDBUTTON!
I don’t expect to be more interested in the people around me and what they’re doing than what’s happening on screen. It fails to deliver a movie which the first excellent 20 minutes seem to promise. The whole films stops dead when they reach Montenegro, and while I want to go into more detail about my thoughts on some of the scenes there I wont, as we’re in a no spoiler thread. Suffice it to say, a lot of time wasted with no plot or character development, and no action to compensate.
It’s a decent enough film (if very over dramatic), but a crap action movie. Either avoid it or change your expectations on that basis.
Should have gone to see Borat :(
Jay said it was full of ads and sponsorships, he didnt like it either :(
I *think* Sony had some sponsorship. Possibly maybe ;)
I *think* Sony had some sponsorship. Possibly maybe ;)
And Ford? And Omega? Wasnt there another...?
Cant say I particularly noticed. Sony was everywhere though, every screen, laptop and phone.
I wouldnt have ended up talking to the bird next to me watching ferrets :p
She said she wish I hadnt turned up, she could have lay down and got some kip. The gentlemen in me wanted to offer her my lap, but I didnt want to give her the wrong idea ;)
What a crappy film, definately the worst Bond film I've seen.
I did like the bit where he's hammering the DBS along the roads, I could listen to that engine noise all day.
Wow - such a mixed review! I can't believe it was worse that Die Another Day or Tomorrow never dies etc... I'm still going to see it at some point. In a way I'm glad it's completely different to the other ****ty Brosnan Bonds - though they will never beat the classics with Connery for me.

Orange Wednesday sir? No other bugger I know wants to see it :/

Already have plans on Wednesday dude :( If I didn't I'd have bitten your arm off at that decision ;)
However, maybe when I get back from Cyprus - but by then you'd have already seen it probably.

You know the wrong people :p
Going tomorrow :)
I thought that was superb, very good film indeed. It kept me gripped all the way through and I really didn't even notice the time. For me that's the bit, if I don't look at my watch then I'm engrossed. I didn't and I was.
The only sponsorship I'd have picked up on if I hadn't seen it here was that the lappys were all Vaios but apart from that, I didn't notice anything else. The trouble is that if one doesn't enjoy the film then one picks up on other minor things and blows them out of proportion - The Sony presence wasn't that bad.
Good film and I'm happy to have been.
I thought the Kia sponsorship was the most laughable - pull up outside anywhere and there was a damn Kia there. Middle of the jungle? Kia car there. Outside a super-expensive resort? Oh look, a Kia amongst the Aston Martins and whatnot.
The advertising was nowhere near the level of the world is not enough which was basically one feature-length advert.
I was pleased there was no parker sponsorship, too :)

Didn't even notice it

haha yep..
Bond = Is that a Rolex... No it's omega..
Huddy = Is that a Next watch.. no it's a Casio lol
Film was was brilliant. No cheese, No Q, no big battle scene but htis was good. A great preequel to all bond films.
Stunning stunts particulary the chase towrds the embassy at the begining.
Apparently, I have been nominated for the next Bond.. As Daniel said, "00s have a short life expectancy". haha

The cartoons amused me :D
Well I went to see it last night and I have to say it was bloody awesome. It kept along the book pretty well, though obviously was modernised somewhat.
It was far better than any of the Roger Moore and Bronsan movies in my book.
Totally awesome I can't wait for Bond 22 to come out now. This has brought back my faith in Bond.
Oh and Eva Green.... wow. She's delightful.
I enjoyed that film immensely on Saturday, definately glad I went.

Curses!
I'm going to be the only person not to have seen this soon..
And it's about me!!
*goes off to carry on spying*
I've still not seen it :(
No one I know seems keen to go, freaks :/
I've not been yet either!
I am next week when I'm back in Swansea :D
Going after work one night.
Finally saw it.
I loved it :D Really enjoyed it and I managed to stay awake throughout which I thought was a good sign as I arrived knackered straight from work.
Really enjoyable film and makes a change to see a Bond film that was quite plot driven instead of just spectacular action stunt after another.
And Daniel Craig.......*drools* Much better for my eyes than the smarmy posh previous Bonds imo ;)

For more Daniel Craig goodness, watch Layer Cake.
I've heard good things of Layer Cake, just never got round to seeing it. There's always so many films I never get round to seeing :embarassed:
I read the book first.
Book > film.
I thought Colm Meaney was fantastic as Gene, especially with the freezer/ :D
