View Full Version : link exchanges anyone?
hey, i'm trying to build up my google page rank for my new site, and was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to link to me? just a small text link would be great...something like:
<a href="http://www.sameagain.net">Jasper Tandy</a>
would be brilliant. post your link in here if you're up for it and i'll link back to you. hope this is ok with the wonderful boat drinks owers :)
nice one :) post your urls here and i'll reciprocate. if you want them to say anything specific, let me know. failing that i'll use the site's name :)
I have to be a bit careful about doing that sort of thing as I'm helping someone with an SEO contest (for charity). Sorry, and a shame, as I have a Google PR7 site. :(
ooh, you git! how did you manage to get a PR7? if you've got any tips, other than extensive linkbuilding, they'd be most-welcome :)
Just got it linked on some very popular sites. It's been around a few years though so has had time to 'mature'.
You know whats odd is that if you google for "Pete Carr" or "Peter Carr" I'm either first or second. I've never asked anyone to link to me and I haven't used any tricks on my sites. I don't have my name embedded all over in the site either. It is part of the URL and I think that's the most important part. I got my HDR Guide onto the first page of google for "hdr guide" and "hdr tutorial" by the url containing "hdr-guide" and the header tags saying tutorial. In my mind the best way of doing SEO is to simply use informative URL's and properly designed sites using XHTML + CSS. Aside from that I've never used any magic. So for me the biggest part of my job is getting people to remember my name, thats it. The rest is available via google. My business card says "Pete Carr" with "petecarr.net" and mail to petecarr.net :)
kitten, i've added a link to you now :) cheers
and Vixen, thanks for that, i've pretty much done all of that except google toolbar (i have a tool to tell me page rank), and the time bit :)
whoa...more posts!!
harib0...i accidentally moved a file; everything should be working fine now.
Pete, i'm ranking top for my name in yahoo, google and MSN, but it's nice to build links and whatnot
So how does one check the ranking of a site?

Aye definitely. I just think there's more to Google than meets the eye :)

you can use the google toolbar, but i use the SEO Book plugin for firefox, as it tells you the Google and Alexa rank for every page you visit.

personally, i think what they're trying to achieve is as close to logical human thought as they possibly can. although sometimes they mess it up, i think they're definitely striving to make sure each search you make yields the most relevant result possible. i realise it may sound like i work for them (i wish), but tis just what i think!
Cool, I'll get the SEO thing as there's no way on this planet that I'm installing a google toolbar! Ta.
I'll drop you on my site once the new version goes live next month. :)

I can give you all links from a PR5 page (http://www.vidahost.com/testimonials.php) but on only one condition, which I'm sure you can guess :p
When I sort Twobeds out I'll update the links section, though - it gets visited quite a lot and Google seems to like it :)
