View Full Version : *Sick* with jealousy

One of the devs here has been threatening to buy a 350Z for ages... and today he pulled up in it. Brand new, black, GT pack with orange leather... stunning. Just been round the bypass in it, I wasnt even driving it and I had a massive grin on my face.

Anyone spare 20k?

Like the TT, I found the 350Z better to look at than drive.

Sick with jealousy was pretty much how I felt when I met up my mate Nick a year or so ago and he'd taken delivery of his DB9.

I think I would actually be sick with jealousy if someone pulled in a new Aston.

The problem I have at the moment is I'm eyeing up an S2000, but I really shouldnt spend the money. Stuff like this doesnt help :/

I felt less sick when he gave me the keys :D

Good call on the S2000, I think they're a fantastic car.

I loooove the 350z - it's an awesome car. And it looks fantastic - I certainly loved the test drive I had of it. Of course I'd rather have an Aston, but I couldn't pull it off, the 350z I probably could.

I'm not that big a fan of the s2000 drive wise, looks wise it's awesome.

Another one of those cars I've been in but never driven myself. Think I'd have great fun in one, not least cus you can rev the **** out of it.

Will
24-11-2006, 17:11
Yeah that can be fun, but I just didn't find it that fulfilling - though they do look and sound awesome - they need to be driven fairly hard to get the best out of them though.

Daz
24-11-2006, 17:12
So I'm told, but when you can rev to 9k, I guess that's the point.

Burble
24-11-2006, 17:13
High revving engines ftw, that's one of the things I adore about the bike.

Will
24-11-2006, 17:14
True. Hardwork though and I'm lazy :p

Ah yes the bike's different I love high revs on that - still my car revs to 7250 which is still pretty high (though my bike nearly doubles that ;D). But the powerband on my bike is 4x that of the s2000 - 6000-9000 is VTEC which is far too much like hardwork - besides the bike revs quicker :p

Burble
24-11-2006, 17:17
I have to get my revving kicks on the bike, my car would be chucking pistons and con rods all over the place if I revved it to 7250!

I'll get some off him when he says I can take them :embarassed: Got a bit dirty on the trip up from Cambridge, and he wants it paint shielding first.

[edit]Though you can have some of others:

Jap crap FTW! :p

I do love my bike for that though. It works on a bike, it's less fun on a car, unless you have a more linear and higher torque from lower down in the rev range.

There is a guy with a 350Z in the next road from me, its really really nice. There is also someone else with an elise 111S or R (get them mixed up, but the mad tweaked up version).

Two roads over there is also a bloke in his 30's with an Exige, git.

Having looked round houses today and getting thoroughly depressed that nothing is for sale in Chelmsford except for stuff which is either
1. In Melbourne (and directly off melbourne avenue  )
2. Over 250k
so I am on the lookout for a nice motor again :)

RX8 > 350Z

I thought the 350Z was a heavy and noisy old hector. Never really felt as quick as it should have.

The RX8 feels quicker that it is, plus handles superbly *once the tyres have been changed from the RE040's*

Both are better than the TT though. ;)

350Z. Isn't that a Datsun?

Burble
24-11-2006, 19:34
Yep. Beaded seat covers are an optional extra IIRC.

Not a massive fan of the Z, though it is a nice car. S2000 ftw.

Will
24-11-2006, 20:32
The RX8 I thought was awful to drive - I hated the power delivery, though it did handle REALLY well and does look cool and is generally quite fun. I just couldn't get used to the wierd way it drove - it didn't feel particularly fast either, and I think it's faster on paper than it really is.

I'd be very tempted by a 350z but I would get FI for it :embarassed: Furthermore if I were getting a 2nd car I'd prefer something more practical ;)

I could have had a 350Z I could have had an S2000 or the RX8

I wanted 4 seats and the RX8 was just weird when I test drove it, granted I like my cars small and sweet but for me my car is far more fun to drive, it might not handle like an RWD sports car. Admitedly I steered away from the other two because they only had two seats but the fuel consumption put me off the 350Z and the fact I would have looked a tit behind the wheel of the S2000 put me off that.

Give me that money and specify speed and handling over style and fun and I'd spend it on a secondhand M3/5 or a Carrera.

For me its RX7 > RX8 :D

Shame that there are sooooo many wrecks for sale. RX7 mint condition 56k or 58k, hmmmm and what tends to happen at about 60k lads?? There was a red RX7 Type R near me in kidderminster that was just amazing.

The rebuild costs do scare me a bit with those, as knowing my luck i'll get the bugger than runs fine, then bam 2-3k on a rebuild please :( I wouldn't have a clue how to do it myself

I have driven both and thought the RX8 felt cheap and fragile , certainly not a patch on the 350z ( though i agree both are better than a TT )

No denying it felt well built (they did sort out the terribly interior plastics before going into production) but I found the handling a bit too lazy and that isn't what I'd expect from that sort of car.

At least the UK version I drove was better than the US one, that felt totally devoid of character!

It can be easily sorted out with a little suspension & geo setup though. Makes it a lot sharper.

I'd still want to turbo it if I had one :D

My mate at uni drove a Porche 911 Turbo to class !

This is in Wales, not Orange County......I had to double check, it even has personalised number plates....and he is my age.
