View Full Version : MSN messenger weirdness
I have added other people onto my msn, they are showing as offline on the contact list. However if i click on their name and start a conversation, i can talk to them and they can talk to me.
And if I sign into Windows messenger, I can then see them online. I just can't see them online on MSN messenger (latest version with MSN plus).
What is causing this and how do I fix it?
Have also tried removing msn plus, removed msn messenger live. Reinstalled Messenger Live.
Same problem still.
So are running WLM or MSN messenger ?
Windows Messenger - Fine
MSN 7.5 - Fine
MSN Live / 8.0 - messed up.
Ive got a copy of the new beta if ya wanna try that
MSN Live does allow people to appear offline but they can still send and recieve messages (I do it sometimes)
I keep getting message windows pop up from Tinkerbell with nothin in them, it says shes typing a message but nothing ever appears :/ I PMed her about it and apparently shes ben getting the same thing from me :/
Tak can you let me know which version/build you are using please
I will speak to my beta testing people about it and see what they say
V8 (Build 8.0.0812.00)
It doesn't happen all the time but when it does it'll happen 5,6,7+ times

MSN is always messing about.
At the moment i have a name i cannot delete/remove. It tells me it cannot be removed at the moment try later.
Now the name is blocked every time i boot MSN up even though i have unblocked it. Can't be arsed to mess with it, poxy thing i only keep it as friends have it and my list is Huge.
What can you do though when you have been on for years and built a list of friends, you just have to keep putting up with its nonsence.
I went back to 4.7 ages ago as the new one is like a fairground to me.
tips tricks suggestions gladly taken. At least 4.7 is lite and free of the garbage.
I would say just use one of the patches thats avialible to remove all the bloat/crap that you dont want

Funny thing is, after putting the Beta on last night, which didn't solve the problem. So i gave up and went to bed, got up this morning and boot up and now it works !
Ahhhhh microsoft ..........Ya gotta love em !!!!!
Sounds like it was a server problem then.
