I'm going to advertise my SV650 (52 plate) in the press next month. I can't afford the up keep as it's not getting the usage I might have liked. What with a baby on the way too, I'll have even less time.
Anyway, it's the fully faired version (sports), 6.5k miles, recently fully serviced, taxed and MOT, spankingly good condition (not a scratch).
I'm looking for £2,900 but i'll let it go to any BD member for £2,600
I'll even through in my one piece leather with new knee slidders! plus my leather thonged bikers pants :p
I will ask my Dad if he would be interested. His bandit is getting on a bit (its on a V plate with what is now starship mileage for a bike) and he uses it every day in all weathers to get to work (saving his SV1000 for the weekends :D) so he might be interested in a change.

don't think he'll go for a 650 after a 1000. I found the drop from a gixer like going from a BMW to a Corsa :D
Changed before I'm nabbed by the mini police! :p

OOh, V twin goodness.
My brother is on about getting a bike, but I think he's after a nutter bastard 1000cc 4 cylinder like mine. I'll mention it to him anyway.

We stayed in a farm near Ashford a few years back .. the guy had 30 odd or so scrapped minis in the yard. My son managed to negotiate with the owner to buy them all at £10 a pop. :) It so funny.. you had to be there though :p

My monies on the MINI, I reckon thats got a pretty serious engine going on there, judging by the tyres :D

My next door neighbour had one of the original minis for years, but sadly he died a few years back. My parents also had one for a while. Someone round here has one of the new minis with a custom paint job,
I could have sworn I saw Matt's mini driving around Newbury just before christmas (same colour scheme, but I didn't get enough of a look at it to work out whether it was a Works) :)

He would be swapping the Bandit 600 for the sv650, not the thou :)
Anyway, just asked him - he said the Bandit is good for a few more years (its "only" on 30k ) but he does tend to maintain the bikes rather well, so no need for a replacement just yet.

custardy
My little sister asked if Martin and me were going to have a custardy battle over the toads, this probably would have been cute if she wasn't nearly 17:undecided:
30k is nothing for a well maintained bike. :)
This might get Gilly to do his test sooner ;) Wouldn't mind a V Twin, but I think I prefer V4s... though at the moment mines more than good enough ;)

Pics please !
Spoke to my brother, he's going bike shopping in a couple of months and he's after either a CBR1000RR (like I have) or a GSXR 1000.

I'm certainly interested, unless it'd kill me.
There's a distinct possibility I'll have a work car soon, so my car would go anyway, and a bike for the weekend sounds like a fab idea to me.
Would this be too powerful for a first bike?
Once you have got past your CBT and done direct access, this kind of bike is pretty much perfect for a new rider I think. It will certainly be where I will be looking when it comes to that time for me!
My CBT is booked and I want to be riding during Spring :)

Not at all. They're renowned as excellent beginner bikes. They're comfortable, but not too relaxed, quick enough to be bags of fun but not to be unmanagable, and are just... good bikes. My sister's ridden one for yonks, she loves it.

My first bike was Gixer 600 :p Zzz0000mmmmmmm Lovely bikes :)
You'll find that the in-line 4 are a much smoother ride than the V-Twins. The engine braking is more apparent on the twins and require a little more clutch control. Hence, you'll hearthose saying that twins are bikers bikes. This is noticeable more when cornering and taking round-a-bouts for example.
The SV for me was a bit of down size but I just wanted something different. The difference being around 30bhp less the the gixer iirc.
It's a fantastic first bike. Personally I prefer the power delivery of an inline 4 - but that's personal preference. The V Twins make a nice noise for sure with a decent can, and are well balanced and quite light - however there's nothing like chasing that red line on a 4
Depends on timings then. I'm not likely to be ready to buy for a month or two.
however there's nothing like chasing that red line on a 4
It's good......but you can't beat riding the torque of love baybeh, oh yeah
IMO of course :p

My Gixer had moor torque than the SV :D I miss my Gixer.. I would have liked the 750 if they hadn't have made the frame black :( A thou is just utter madness on public roads
