View Full Version : Eragon
Well you may have seen the trailers, its about a young boy who becomes the last dragon rider. The country is in ruin, taken over by an evil king. His task as the last dragon rider is to return the country back to the ways it was before when the riders kept peace.

It got a slating on rotten and its not surprising really. It was 1hr30mins in which time they crammed too much in. The film races from one scene to the next and then bam, the end. It has set it up for a sequel, but for the love of god I hope there is more character development.
It has persuaded me to have a look at the books as apparently they are much better than the film.
Has anyone else seen this?
I heard it was basically Star Wars with dragons instead of tie-fighters. 'Farm boy finds true calling and overthrows evil empire' etc. According to the review I read, the original book was written by a fifteen year old that had basically taken all the best elements of other classic stories, and it shows. Would that be fair?
It amused me that one of the characters is called Murtagh though. 'I'm too old for this dragon ****'. :D
Thats a fair assesment really. I was hoping for a lot more with this film. I hope the sequel improves a hell of a lot ..... it will be downloaded though
Heard its ****e but still wanna see it - there be dragons :D :D
Wanted to see it after I heard the premise, avoided it after reading the pasting it got. I had high hopes, least this way I wont be disappointed :p
I'm probably going to watch this tonight, depending on the commute back (hoping for a very prompt 8pm finish)
Im watchin it tonight will let you know what its like
As said, it's a pretty poor film.
Rubbish fight scenes, bad acting and a ridiculous story line.
Fantasy films are my favorite but this was only just better than Dungeons & Dragons.
Cool, I wont waste my money on it then. Wanted to go see it because of the dragons but it doesn't seem worth it :D
It wasn't all that bad. Nothing fantastic though. Full of clichés, and conversation pieces that were a little on the cheesy side. As said elsewhere it moved way too fast too. I was what, 20 minutes from the end and we hadn't even got to the place the final battle is based at. Then all of a sudden the final battle is over and done with and we're into the closing scenes with the wide-open-for-sequel bits in.
