Loving Texas Hold 'um on the 360 :)

Anyone else got this? I bought the full version yesterday and for about £6 worth of Microsoft points it a bit of a bargain :)

If people get this I'd be up for a couple of tornaments maybe leading to some live action play at a meet

yeah sounds good, I played the demo the other day which was cool. Need to get some points myself as this is one arcade game I'd like to buy.

Buy 360 points online with a credit card, but use the internet site, its a faf to enter CC details on the 360 ;)

I got it for free as it was released as a free download for it's first 48 hours. I like it, would certainly be up for some live action play at a meet sometime :)

Davey has one. I even got one for last years' BBQ meet and never used it (it's still all in it's original packaging).

Me wants poker, me no have a 360.

Probably best if you spend some time learning poker before the cottage meet Mark (assuming you haven't yet), we can jump right into some games then :)

I'll look into this before I get home in 2 weeks time - would definitely be up for a game.

Hi Kitten

You buy Microsoft points online with a debit or credit card, I use a VISA debit and it works fine :)

Then the game costs 800 points and you play for honour so once bought thats all the cost :)

I've done a CBT tutorial and got virtually every part of it right, so I've at least got the basics down. The rest is just practice and luck.

Must find the links again for some practice games.

We could always set up a few BD freeroll tournaments in the meantime.

I'd be happy to play through a few hand with you, I'm online now, if you want to give it a go then fire it up and invite me when you see me online :)

May do that if you are still about later? I'm working through some lesson preparation at the moment

I mean I could read the instructions but I'm such a beginner they still don't mean much! (believe me I tried!).

The game itself is simple enough, Texas Hold 'um is one of the simplest because the options are so limited, you bet on the hand you are dealt and it relation to the 'community' cards (turned over in the centre). So all you have to do is assess the odds at various different stages and decide if you want to stay in the game (which costs you money for the pot), that in essence is it :)

If you see me online give me a shout and well set up a room and I'll talk you through it.

Aye, that's all anyone really needs to know. The longer you play the more you start looking at things like pot odds (the relationship between how much it would cost you to stay in versus how much you could win), knowing the number of outs you have (the number of cards left available that could turn your hand into a winner), and reading the playing/betting style of your opponents. I class myself as a decent poker player with several years experience behind me and I'm only really now starting to take these things fully into my game, so it's not really something any beginner should worry about :)

Been playing the trial game and doing not too bad.

I wanted to get the full version but the huge multinational company, Microsoft, can't manage to accept Maestro  and none of the shops in this god-forsaken hole of a town sell points

This means I'll have to go through to Aberdeen tomorrow to get points before I can play properly (I need to go to Aberdeen sometime soon anyway - but that's not the point).

/Rant over.

When I get myself sorted, we'll have to get that BD tourney that was mentioned organised.

Stan :)

Nintendo too I'm afraid, can only use the credit card on the Wii :( Always seem to pay more for the points cards too, should look on eBay really.
