View Full Version : TV Card Issues (specifically AverTV)
Hi...just wondering if anybody has a TV card and can help on two issues I've got.
well i picked up a tv card the other day and at the moment the EPG only shows a couple of channels - i wouldn't mind it being like Sky and show all channels...any idea if thats possible?
also i set two scheduled tasks last night as i wanted it to record two programs which i believed were set properly yet it recorded for what seemed like the correct length of time, but just recorded BBC 1Xtra!?!?!
Any Ideas?
Firstly: AverTV. :(
Yes, I had one of those, got replaced with a Nebula.
They tend to be very picky about software - one version works, and another (even a later one) doesn't. My experience was that the software that came with the card was the one most likely to work.
However,
The 7-day EPG *should* show all available channels. These problems suggest a tuning problem to me. Were all the channels found? (depends on the area but somewhere around 40 plus another 30 or so radio stations is about normal).
yeah its tuned fine - got the channels all setup its just the EPG only seems to show channels if i have very recently viewed them.
and i'm currently using the software that came with the card, although i have downloaded what i hope is the software for this series of card that was on their web site - not tested yet though.
How old is the card? Is it a brand new one or secondhand?
I know the EPG format changed a few years back, but I wouldn't have expected it to be that unless you've got an old card.
aye its 2nd hand....dunno exactly how long the other guy had it though :s
ah well never mind. the EPG issue isn't really too bigger problem - the real issue is getting scheduling to work. Any ideas if theres any sites to help with that?
They may be related unfortunately.
it seems to crash and cause BSODs every now'n'then also which is annoying me!
if i change channel too quick or something i get a BSOD saying something about drive less than or equal...can't remember the exact name.
anyway, i uninstalled the driver before i came to work and started the download of the driver from the website.
:( whats stopping yours from working?
Interference from the PC most likely to be causing that. I've had the same problem recently - eventually tracked down to what looks like a grounding issue. You have to be careful fitting TV tuner cards to make sure none of the aerial socket(s) touch any part of the case.
