Glaswegian Bands and Solo Singers

Sound amazing when singing, often attractive, very talented. So why when they open their months do they have to sound like total gadgies? :(

Take Paulo Nutini, fantasic singer. Heard him taking at the Brits and he sounds nasal and wino like :(

What about Fran from Travis? I don't know if he's actually Glaswegian but he joined the band at the Glasgow School of Art. Always thought he was quite softly spoken.
