Finally! A momentous point in my Last Remnant play :) The culmination of probably over a hundred hours of play...
The Godslayer ~ You have defeated the Fallen. You are now the Godslayer!
140 Points Acquired 9/1/2009
RAR!!! ;D
It's not over yet but I'm a damn site closer :D
Needed to share!
Nice one :D got to admire your dedication ;D
Nice one :D got to admire your dedication ;D
That's one word to describe it ;D
Yesterday I had to farm Jewel Steel from this tough as hell mob in the bonus dungeon.
I needed them so my guys could upgrade their weapons to be good enough to beat the Fallen.
It took me about 8 hours to get the 17 I needed.
It took me back to playing EQ ;) There's even 'rare' spawns in each zone.
That does sound very EQlike ;D
Nutter :p
Done. Finito. 1000/1000
I did enjoy it but thank the lords it's over and boy was the last boss tough. If you complete all the side quests you basically face a souped up final boss which makes the fallen seem like a piece of cake.
I promise I won't mention it again.
So...
What am I playing.. Prince of Persia and Dead Space.
Going to hold off on playing Tomb Raider until one of the above is finished :)
PoP isnt very long, you can whizz through it in a couple of nights for your second play through once you've learned the ropes and found the light seeds :)

Well done Steven, took some dedication to do that. Glad you managed to get the full 1000 points as opposed to the 600 you were worried you were gonna get.
I am currently playing Dead Space, which I have just started (literally only just completed Chapter 1) and also Fallout 3.
Blown away by Dead Space, definitely atmospheric, really enjoyed what I've seen so far and the methods of upgrading equipment looks superb. Game has terrific lighting and rather interesting controls which work better than I feared, which is a relief.
Also playing Fallout 3, up to Level 17 or 18 now, currently found some extra side missions whilst exploring the wasteland, so that's good. Currently unearthed 8 bobbleheads which I'm quite impressed by as they aren't the easiest things to find. Gametime is at around the 38 hour mark and I am still loving it.
Also been playing a couple of games in Multiplayer such as Left 4 Dead and Call of Duty 5 and I can genuinely say that I am loving them both. I was worried about CoD5 after all the negative comments, but it's brilliant IMO and it's nice to play a good MP WW2 game. Loads of modes, weapons, challenges. Great.
Resistance 2 and i'm loving it, can't wait to start the campaign :p co-op is good fun and i'm glad to see you can now rank up properly and acquire different weapins/perks on the way.

I was hoping for Resistance 2 for my Birthday from a friend, but never got it. Will probably treat myself to it.

If it's ever in stock for £20 quid I'm taking it :p
Currently playing, Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise on the DS. I have absolutely no idea what the hell I'm doing, but I'm having fun doing it :D
I've got nothing new to play, haven't even bothered turning the 360 on since the end of PoP. Looked at joining a rental with the 3 months trial but can't find anything I want to play.
Looking at play's coming soon section there is nothing for me until march ish.
I know there are some great RPG's out there but I'm not into those.

Picked up around 70G during my first hours play & am Loving it as much as GH3 LOR

I quite liked Aerosmith but felt it got a bit samey after a while playing music from the same band. That might be because I went through the entire career in a single session one night while waiting for some boxing to start :D
I've yet to play GH:Aerosmith fully. I rented it just as I had an elbow infection so couldn't use my arm properly so sent it back. Definitely have to re-rent it at some point. :D

Rock Band & I still kin Rock :p
Much easier than the GH3 series, I had to up it a level & +90% the tunes first play through

I just started the 3 month tesco trial. I added dead space and quantum of solace. The other 3 you mention don't really hold much interest for me.
Mirror's edge is a maybe if I really can't find anything else :)
I do fancy left 4 dead but my internet is playing up again and I see it as a online game really.
Mirror's Edge is surprisingly good :) I wasn't overly fussed by it until I rented it from work on a whim. I was so impressed that I would have bought it if it wasn't for Nokkon giving me it for Christmas :D
Quantum of Solace is also pretty good imo especially if you like the films. Certainly well worth a rental or cheap purchase.
Left 4 Dead is brilliant fun but I see what you mean if you're restricted to single player, although I still enjoy it even so.

I've been looking through peoples games on my FL trying to see if I fancy anything is Kung Fu Panda worth a quick whoring ;D
Banjo Kazooie! Don't ignore it.
My godson got that with his 360 at xmas, I will nick that off him when I next see him. I might add it to rental until then to see if it comes through.
I wasn't bothered by Banjo Kazooie when I rented it, it was ok but nothing that gripped me :(
Kung Fu Panda is a very easy 1k! And quite fun too :)

Rock Band 2 & Thanks to Nokkon I will be playing GH2 through as well
Davey was right though the Rock Band series is a better game, Especially RB2, Better tunes, Untold more content & it is transferable between RB1 & 2. I downloaded all the tunes from RB1 for 400 points, JD.
Looking through the content available for RB2 today there was over 400 songs/tunes/packs including Full albums
I think I may be busy for a while ;D
Look at my sig ;D I am a plaggy guitar addict but more Importantly I am over 6k :D

I think for me I just prefer the way the Rock Band career is handled, especially in Rock Band 2 with the World Tour mode. If you're playing Guitar Hero 2/3 and meet a song you can't beat, you're stuck with practise mode until you get do it. In RB2, just try the song on a lower difficulty or just go to another venue and play a different song. You should never really get stuck in it :)

The way it scrolls don't mess with my eyes & head like the GH series does, I get the same thing that I get when watching a fishing float on ripply water for a bit, You know when you look away things are moving, Well I get that with the GH series but not with RB2

I'm almost through Trauma Center on the Wii.
Standard difficulty had me hurling obscenity at the TV. :o I probably won't put too much effort into hard.

You know how much I loved Mirrors Edge (my 2008 goty). If it was 2nd, what was your no. 1?
At the moment I'm playing "The Maw". My daughter loved the demo and talked about it all night so we picked it up this afternoon and it's a little joy to play.

I bought RB2 2nd hand today for 35 quid & then spent 400 points bringing the tunes from RB1 that I free rented from Lovefilm over for play with RB2, I suggest you do the same Young Lady ;)
There is Untold downloadable content for these titles as well, A must have in my opinion but I can be ignored as a Blatant fanboy :p
Ssssh I'm cutting back on my games spending :p When I decided I'm allowed to spend money again though, good plan :D
Last year I got really into guitar games. First with GHIII, easy career the medium then hard (never did beat Lou though) then GHII career on hard then Rock Band; solo guitar career and coop career singing/guitar. I haven't picked the guitar up for quite some time though and now have no desire at all to get RB2 or GH:WT; I've just lost the vibe.
A little part of me does fancy going through GH:WT as I generally found GH more 'fun' than RB but I'm in no great rush.
I bought The MAW as well booie, I love it :) Bob moves a little slow but it's a charming little adventure.
Haven't really clicked with Mirrors Edge yet, dont know if I'm approaching it wrong, just end up getting frustrated when I get stuck and not very satisfied when I pull the moves off. Dont get stuck often mind, just when I do it's long enough to annoy me :p

I've a hunch though the seperate careers will be back for the next one, atleast in addition to whats already there. I dont see the challenge mode staying, it's pointless.
The rockband forum is hammered with people wanting better information on how they are progressing like the linear career showed for each instrument with a score and star rating.
That will defo be back.

Skate 2 :>
Spent the morning trying to get a decent price on left 4 dead and dead space at auction. Failed! Bah :(
I have £10 in points at game but I'm not paying their current prices for those games.
I had some money on play.com's playtrade so gave in and got it (Left 4 Dead) for £35. I do think it's going to be quite some time until it's really cheap.
I've got back into Dead Space and I've got to say I'm starting to really get into it. Now I'm a bit further in I'm not finding it so utterly terrifying I'm starting enjoy the set pieces and whole ambience. One thing though, I noticed there's an achievement for retaining hull integrity of 50% of more in the asteroid bit at the end of chapter 4 and my god it's hard, has anyone else actually managed this?
I think possibly Left 4 Dead is at a consistently high price because it's not overly easy to get hold of. When I was looking before Christmas in HMV they didn't have any copies despite it not being out for long. Also Blockbuster where I work hasn't had any copies since early January despite quite a few customers requesting it. Just not been able to get the stock in. Not sold out of anything else, not even Wiis!
Seems easy enough to find online though.
Valve's business model is not around cutting prices, it's around adding value through DLC (free on the PC, would be free on the 360 if they had their own way). They've never been ones to cut prices quickly - The Orange Box took around 12 months to consistently hit the £20 mark.
Oddly I'm playing Bejewelled at the moment. Never really did that well on it first time round - Dee recently bought it on her iPhone and after having a go it seems I developed that part of the brain somehow :o 200,000+ points on level 20 later, I've gone back to it on the 360 - currently on level 12 with 5 hyper cubes :o (the achievement is at level 17, never even got close to that before).
Bejewelled is brilliant fun :D One of the first games I got for the 360.

I didn't get that one on my first run through as I didn't even look at the achievements till I was nearing the end of the game. I fully intended to go back through this on Insane or whatever the unlocked difficulty is called but haven't got far with that yet.
Achievement for classic mode done, first time, and still going \o/

I was shopping in York that day just before xmas and despite not planning on getting anything I snagged Orange Box from Game for £25 and COD4 from Gamestation for £25 (or something like that).
Ok, maybe I was dreaming that then :p
Their business model being based around adding value through DLC rather than cutting prices (and building a platform to generate more revenue through a potentially higher install base and charging for dlc) is definitely the case though, Gabe was talking about it on gamesindustry.biz (I think) :)
I spent most of the weekend playing COD4mp on the pc. Haven't played a COD game online since COD2 came out. I forgot how much fun it is. Managed to level up quite a few times aswell. After I stopped playing S&D. Headquarters is where it's at :D

Up until last night I was playing Call of Duty: World at War, but I finished it last night so not sure when I'll be going through that again. Might be time now to start making inroads into all the games on my shelf that still need to be finished, maybe back to Mirror's Edge or something older like Condemned.

Still bang into Rock Band 2 & it hasn't even left my drive once since I put it in. I have purchased 4200 points as well so will be adding more content as & when I need it, I have already downloaded the Oasis pack but kin ell Dudes who wouldn't instantly jump on the chance to play along to Live forever & Wonderwall.
The game is Bang on & I've even bought myself 8 duracells for spares so my Guitar Never runs out ;D
O.T.
Bought myself a Message pad thingy yesterday that clips onto your controller, It's Awesome & typing on it with 2 thumbs is not only easy but preferable to sitting up my desk with keys would you believe.
Expect some comms from me now
One thing about it is the way it changes the overall shape of the controller, For me with massive hands it balances it out real nice
Well worth getting if a little expensive for what it is, I paid 25 quid from gamestation & got Another bloody headset with it, That's 3 in all then 2 as spares :p

The chatpad is amazing and I can use the pad with it with or without attached easily, but the one downside is it appears to be thrashing the knackers off my already on its way out controller and battery pack :p.
I would go as far as to say it's the best peripheral for the Xbox360 though.

I'm currently testing out the limitations of my new netbook (NC10). I've managed to play a bit of Unreal II on it, although it's a bit jerky and it has difficulty with some of the complex graphics occasionally but it's playable.
I decided to try something a bit more within it's capabilities so I've installed ScummVM and am slowly getting into 'Beneath a Steel Sky'. I'm having quite a bit of fun with it so far :D

Currently nothing. I finished Lost last night (not actually as bad as I thought it would be, I enjoyed figuring out the fuse puzzles on my own) and unsure what to play next. Don't currently have anything to review, so may well spend the weekend playing through Mirror's Edge or Mercenaries 2, assuming I don't pick up anything new tomorrow.

I'm thinking my extreme criticism of LOST comes from being jaded by the instant death mechanic. I'm tired of having to replay sections of games because of some small mistake or small turn of luck. LOST at times wasn't that bad but I really didn't like running through the forest avoiding the smoke or some of the instant death parts in the caves. I think it's also why complained so bitterly about Prince of Persia; the wall running and flying bits werent that hard but at times it was hard to see exactly which way to move before it was too late, ergo, death, remember and try again.
I've been looking at COD5. As someone who's done COD2, 3 & 4 on Veteran you'd think I'd be all over it but I just can't face it now I've read it's the hardest of the bunch. I think I may pick it up at some point though and do it on Normal.
As for what I'm playing.. I've nearly finished Dead Space. After my initial trepidation after the first couple of levels; it was far too scary for my liking, I've grown to really love this game. Each of the chapters is unique and has amazing architectural touches with some of the larger stages inducing a genuine wow. Two chapters to go which I hope to do tonight and I think I will have 1 more go to get the completionist and one gun achievements but think I'll push a play on Insane aside.
After this I'll dive into Tomb Raider: Underworld :)
I also for once have nothing to review, and I can't remember the last time that happened  Good few months at least. I'll probably have something to review from Tuesday though so few days off is good!
I'm going back to Prince of Persia which I'm still enjoying, it just doesn't hook me as much as some games so I can easily put it down and come back later. Not sure what else but probably another game from my collection, maybe Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway or Mirror's Edge.
Got paid today but as the draw to spend money seems to have gone completely, I'm still resisting buying a game :D

I really like Call of Duty 5 Steven, I'd recommend it. I love it in online MP too, I think map for map it's a bit stronger than CoD4's selection and that's saying something.
Agreed the maps are far better, the gameplay sadly isn't. It's the hardest VET imo. Hardened is much more fun and if you want points just pick off the easier vet levels.
Brothers in Arms I loved, even though it's not as good as the PC originals as the team controls are crap on the 360.

While I've not done much veteran on any of those games, it was certainly a bitch when I was testing various levels on that difficulty. The sky was literally pissing grenades at some points though, which was more than a little annoying. My review of it is online if you fancy a read http://www.xboxgamezone.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1875&Itemid=36 :)

Cheers, good review and I think I will pick this up at some point when it's reet cheap. :) Think I may avoid a Veteran play through this time and actually enjoy the ride.
Finished Dead Space and I have to say it's pacing was probably the finest I've come across in a game for a long time with a great last couple of chapters. I decided to do a new game plus to get the maxed out achievement and found I was enjoying a fast run through so much I also got the one gun achievement for finishing the game with just the plasma cutter. I actually managed the whole run through in one day, it took about 6 hours.
Just completed GTA4 on the 360. Superb game! Going to get Saints Row 2 next I think.
I'm back to playing Forza2 at the moment. Plenty of races to finish off so I'm gradually working my way through them in an orderly fashion. It's a superb game and I think the only reason I put it down is that I was getting bored of doing the same tracks over and over again. Now I've had that break from it, it's a fresh start again :)

Hah, I only got it Jan 9th! ;).
I find it hard to do more than one chapter at a time as the first 4 have been an hour each and I never get consistantly long periods of time to game except late at night, when I'm tired, and that would ruin the experience - which is why I play Championship Manager late on and Dead Space when it's dark in my room.

Long, veeeeeeery long. Most of the achievements come on disk 3, so at least 25 hours in. Final ones need around 100 hours of gameplay.
Anything interesting or just long winded? I dont mind putting time in for my GS but not just grinding through them.
You could quite feasibly finish Blue Dragon with 40 hours put in and walk away with 0/1000.
My 1000/1000 came from blind stubborness, a handy don't miss this then guide and much grinding at the end.
Loved the game though :)

Though Eternal Sonata is very low on points? How come?
The bulk of achievements can only be had on a second play through. I didnt fancy it at the time, thats why mines low anyway.
Same, I really didn't fancy a second playthrough at a harder level as the bulk of the game was complete tosh.

I'm bouncing between Mirror's Edge and Mercenaries 2 currently. Mirror's Edge is good fun although a little infuriating at times just trying to figure out where to go. It's great when you pull off a great string of moves though flowing through each one of them. Mercenaries is just great fun for blowing the crap out of everything. Taking down buildings with artillery fire and rolling around in tanks is just awesome :D
I loved Eternal Sonata but never got round to 1king it :o Will do eventually as I can always rent it.
I've hardly gamed all weekend due to illness and work, however I have the next weekend off \o/ \o/ \o/ So lots of gaming will hopefully be done :D
I'm planning on Prince of Persia and erm then I'm not sure what :o;D
Rented Rayman Raving Rabbids for the week but not sure how good it'll be.

Crap loads of Rock Band 2.
I still haven't gotten over the games Awesomeness even though after a 754 note streak & 100 percenting a tune I got Zilch gamer points :'(
I've started messing with the challenges now as I have played through the game on Medium. Medium was a good beginners level for me & a pleasant way of unlocking all the tunes, Next stop Hard
Can't recommend this game enough.
I'm on chapter 2 of Tomb Raider Underworld and so far it's not so bad. There's far too many collectibles but over all I'm enjoying it.
However I've started to turn my attention to what to play next and could do with some pointers. If they'd go and release Tales of Vesperia I'd be sorted, however...
Here are some I'm thinking about:
Army of Two ~ thought it might be a fun little shooter or
The Bourne Conspiracy or Quantum of Solace ~ more shootie shootie
Far Cry 2 ~ might go back and pick this up now, would keep me busy for quite a while but it does sound like it could be very frustrating
Tomb Raider: Anniversay ~ more of the same
KUF Circle of Doom ~ I'd quite like a fantasy action rpg but it's by all reports very tedious
CSI ~ I'll be honest, it would be for the points mostly.
Anything else?
Or should I just pick up a PS3 and get through Uncharted, LBP and KZ2 until Star Ocean comes out?

Bond and The Bourne Conspiracy, whilst being from similar franchises are not that similar as games, for a start Bond is the much better game (but so NOT the better movie). Quantum of Solace is actually a lot of fun, even on 007 difficulty, has some great levels and you play key sections of Casino Royale too, I would definitely recommend it.
FarCry 2 is beautiful, as nice as any external environments have been in games, it does seem to lack a lot of story progression as a result of its size, but there is plenty to do (although rather repetative). It's a good game though and worth picking up for the level editor alone.
CSI has the worst graphics on the console, easily the worst interface, poor sounds and truly awful presentation, however I did enjoy the stories and because you can't really fail a mission you will get the achievement anyway. I wouldn't recommend buying it unless it was dirt cheap, but I would recommend playing it.
Army of Two is okay, but I did not like it at all in Single Player, I only completed it because I played it in co-op. There are much better shooters than this - it should have been brilliant, but wasn't. Probably EA's weakest new IP from 2008.
If you picked up a PS3 you could play Killzone 2, which is out very soon (same day as Halo Wars), Uncharted I loved, LBP is good fun and your daughter would love it (although I do find it struggles as SP game, I do enjoy it in co-op). You also have Motorstorm 1 and 2 as well as Resistance 1 and 2. However, as daft as it sounds, you might miss the achievements you would get on Xbox360 and you WILL find yourself buying all multi-format games on the Xbox360. But as you are set on getting a PS3 anyway sometime in the future, then Killzone 2 might be the time.
Quantum of Solace is a surprisingly good game :) Really enjoyed it.
I wish they'd hurry up with Tales of Vesperia too :(

I decided to ditch Blue Dragon and rent Lost Odyssey. No idea why as it's an RPG, and I have it for a week =/
Put about 6 hours into it so far, and i'm about 2/3rds of the way through disk 1. I seem to have the problem that I can only play for a couple of hours at a time, yet as soon as I shut the console down, I want to play again. It's a good game though, so that's probably why, and it seems a bit easier than Blue Dragon, as I haven't actually died yet.

Started playing Rise of the Argonauts today, only done the first mission so far but the combat so far seems fun, nice and bloody with body parts being chopped off or crushed by your various weaponry. It's an action RPG so while the action part seems ok so far, it'll probably take a little while for the RPG side to show good it is (or isn't). It's based in Greek Mythology though which I love, so I'm looking forward to putting a fair bit of time into this in the next week or so :)
I'm envious :p
I'm mainly playing Guitar Hero:Aerosmith and Mass Effect. GH:A must be incredibly easy to the likes of Davey and Creature. Even I'm getting 300ish note streaks without much difficulty. It is quite entertaining though :) And just unlocked one of my favourites: She Sells Sanctuary :D
Mass Effect I've rented again to get some more points. I forgot how pretty it is as last time I played it, I was just using my monitor. Really does look nice. Should make a good change of pace as well :)
Tomorrow I'll hopefully have Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon which currently I think my Mum's more excited about than me ;D

I did GH:A in a single session one night while waiting for some boxing to start. Went through on Hard and wished I'd done it on Expert as I didn't find it challenging at all.
Think I'll pass on GH: Metallica though, I find those songs hard enough without having an Expert+ option to kick my ass :p

Expert plus though is just the drums so I've read??? Is that correct. I read that the guitar is the same, but expert plus is for dual pedal.
I bet guitar is as easy as WT.
Currently got two games come through on rental. NHL07 and Cabela Big Game hunter ;D

The other thing that would concern me is Metallica are obviously about Guitar solo's. The tighter hammerons on rockband would make it immense but with the gay slider leaving the ability to just press and hold frets with the loose window I don't see it being that much fun.
Of course if you love metallica then it's probably still a must have. Personally I'd rather play Guitar Hero Bon Jovi ;)

I found Lost Odyssey a little bit tougher than Blue Dragon; the infrequent save points really started to grate towards the end as well.
I'll have a think on where to level grind on Blue Dragon, can you get to that island with the golden poo snake? One of the Soutern islands I think? If so that's a pretty good place to level. It's a while since I played and I can't remember the details but there's also some good places to level if you have the items that let you auto kill enemies by running into them.
I ended up picking up Quantum of Solace (£20) so I'll get stuck into this when it arrives. Also I'm tentavitely looking at: Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Squad at the end of the month lol...

Yea, I know the island you mean, but it only really works if you have level 50 barrier magic, and I don't :(
I'm finding Lost Odysseys save points quite frequent at the moment, but that's probably because it's early on in the game.
I really enjoyed Lost Odyssey.
Unfortunately for me, I got to the last disc, went to the Temple of Enlightenment and saved there (without having one from just before, oops) then stopped playing for some reason. 6 months later and I can't for the life of me work out how to get out of there despite using various Youtube guides. I hated it too. Complicated Maze like dungeon + random encounters + not many saves = ass. Rest of the game was superb though and I loved the stories :)
One thing I really loved about The Last Remnant was the dungeon design; they got it spot on.
Yeah I loved collecting all the dreams :)
Hmm think I'll load up Lost Odyssey and check my save files in the slim hope I've got one from not too far back. Doubt it though, that'd be way too sensible for me :p

Anniversary and Legend are superior to Underworld in almost all ways.

I put another hour or two into Rise of the Argonauts last night, though this was more of the RPG side of things. It's very light in that side. There are no stats for your character, no strength or endurance of perception for example. There's no quest log for you to keep track of things. There is the usual RPG staple though of wandering around and talking to everyone to find all the side quests in each area. For an action RPG though there's currently a little too much RPG and not enough action. I prefer my action RPGs to be more like Fable or Marvel: Ultimate Alliance where you may find yourself without combat for very small sections of the game. Out of the time I've put into it so far, more has gone into the exploration than the combat.
The combat, while not exactly deep on a Ninja Gaiden scale, is pretty enjoyable. You have 3 weapons at your disposal (sword, spear, mace), each having its own advantages and disadvantages. You can change between them on the fly with a flick of LB/RB and you can mix up combos between weapons, which is nice. Each has a nice gruesome way of killing enemies as well, such as chopping them in half, impaling them through the chest, or simply crushing their heads into small bloody chunks.
All in all, it's enjoyable so far. Achievement wise it looks to be ok, with a large part of them awarded for completing various constellations (which is done by completing various sub quests and objectives). I don't think they can be done easily in a single playthrough, though it is possible from what I've read. Hopefully the game will carry on being at least as good as it is now :)

Same here, just completed it this afternoon.
If you're going for a Tomb Raider game, Tomb Raider Legend was brilliant and for me, the best since the first one, although I am about to start on Underworld now that Dead Space is done.
I also really enjoyed Fable 2, completed it and got the full 1000/1000 on it pre-Knothole Island, so I am hoping to pick the DLC up in the future.

I have no idea in the end, I started again the exact same format, sim all but the last 5 minutes and it popped up.

Downloading the NHL demo now to see if thats worth it. I have always loved hockey games but no one else really seems to be into them and playing be a pro with canadians and americans doesn't appeal due to the lag and shallower knowledge of the game.

Oh my I love that game so much.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I just loved taking in all the story and a large part of this were the loading screens which were, quite frankly, genius. As are the inclusion of real TV shows and movies as background elements.
I loved the Darkness still one of my fav 360 games. When the hell is no 2 coming?
I could have sat and watched the one armed man reload that weapon all day long ;D

Starbreeze are working on the new Chronicles of Riddick game atm. (as well as the old one which is getting re-done and added into the package).
Playing Kid Chameleon, Streets Or Rage 3 & Altered Beast :D
occasional game of COD4 but that's about it, waiting for darkfall to come out in 17days..

Cheers mate, I'm sure I tried the tag on that earlier but I probably got the wrong link!
Thanks again. :)
Played the first chapter of Rise of the Argonauts and I'm really impressed. At first I was't so sure with 'invisible walls' and what some-what ropey graphics but the more I play the more charm I'm finding within the game. The graphics aren't actually too bad with some really nice textures (it's a shame they're not all up to the same standard) and an amazing sound track.
The script, story and dialogue is up to a very high standard; easily some of the best I've come across in a rpg for a long time and whilst acknowledging the compaint that it's too story oriented without enough combat I'm finding the balance refreshing and perfect for the story they're weaving.
So far I'm loving it.
I also picked up Kingdom for Keflings a couple of nights ago at my wifes request. We're playing together and it's strangely engrossing; almost hypnotic with just 5 more minutes easily becoming midnight.
None of this advanced stuff for me - I've dropped back into the Arcade, bought Bejeweled, and completed Puzzle mode in one sitting. Ah for the simple pleasures, but I don't think my brain works any more. ;D
Big game hunter 1000/1000
Four 1k games in a little over a week ;D
Now to find somewhere doing African Safari cheap.
Gonna play some gears now til something new comes through on rental :)
On a whim I thought I'd finally go back to Lost Odyssey. I'd already found I had a save file from just before I got hideously lost in the Temple of Enlightenment and as I wasn't far from the end of the game, I thought it'd be worth an evening's entertainment.
Very glad I did :D Really enjoyed the 25 minute long end FMV. I didn't find the last few bosses at all challenging despite not having maxed out characters (I was about level 60-65) but it was still satisfying to finally complete the game after a year of owning it :D
Nice to see the various characters have a conclusion to their tale :)
I'm happy enough with 850 points from it so the game's getting passed onto my Mum as she wants a new RPG now she's finished Dragon Quest VIII.
Tempted to move onto Blue Dragon now as it's been sitting there mostly untouched for over a year

Well done Haly zeh.
Just completed Dead Space for the second time, 47 of 48 achievements also leaves me with an 850/1000 score, just 'Impossible' difficulty to go. Another friend of mine has acquired this game now, so I'll send this on to Leo if that's what Davey wants?
Well done Haly :)
I'd definately recommend Blue Dragon. In some ways I prefer it to Lost Odyssey and I think you'd love it. Did you start it?
Is Rise of the Argonauts a hack n slash like viking or an rpg near to Too Human?
It's primary story driven adventure with hack/slash combat and some rpg upgrade elements. Upgrades to weapons/armour come from completing certain sidequests (there is no loot) and upgrades to skills come from completing specefic tasks for the gods (kill x number of y, or do a certainmain/side quest). After the first island I'd say the ratio of exploring/story/conversation to combat is 80:20.
Spent the weekend playing Burnout: Paradise. Haven't so much fun crashing a car :D Can't see me getting 1000/1000 as 1 of the achievements is taking down 500 cars offline and 500 cars online  Never gonna happen.

I bought Tiger Woods 2008 for £8 at the weekend and I've been playing this, doing very well with the Tiger Challenge (I like this mode). I haven't embarked on the full professional season get but I'll do that after I finish the Tiger Challenge. I'm impressed with this version its more polished than previous versions, I also took the time to create my own Gameface so my golfer actually looks like me :D

Be nice to play 18 with you some time as I have never been online with it, Don't think I've ever played 18 holes either ;D
I didn't play it much at all, Then got distracted but swore I'd get back to it some day.

Using vouchers from Christmas I bought Saints Row and GH:WT at the weekend. Loving SR2, bet it's a right blast in co-op.

Okay bud. PM me your address. :).
Played a bit of Blue Dragon yesterday but like all RPGs, it started very slowly and as I was tired I didn't get any further than finishing the prologue.
Today I've just played a bit of Spyro and Blitz: The League.
Spyro.....ugh :/ It's not terrible but I can't work out who it's aimed at. Sometimes it's very easy and perfect for kids, then it'll have an extremely infuriating jump that you just know would cause a kid to give up. The problem is it's either too hard for kids or too boring for an adult, so who's left?
Pity as I loved the Spyro series and tbh there's nothing hugely wrong with Spyro, there's just nothing particularly good about it either.
Maybe alright on the cheap for gamers who play games with their kids a lot?
Blitz: The League is ok. Again nothing special. Originally bought it for £5 ages back for a gamerscore challenge. Think I'll probably sell it on or trade it in soon as I'm having a clearout at the moment.

I finished Rise of the Argonauts earlier, so now between games while I finish off the review. Will probably bounce between Mercenaries 2 and Fifa 09 until I find something else to settle down on.
Didn't take you too long Davey? How long would you say the game is?
I've finished Tomb Raider: Underworld tonight 1000/1000. Overall I liked it though I felt there was slightly too much collecting... (179 treasures and 6 relics ~ thank god for a treasure guide). Not much else to say. It was... err... more Tomb Raider :) I don't think I'll keep it and bother with the DLC though.

About 20 hours or so I think, not quite sure. Ended up missing 3 achievements in the end (one difficulty based one, one that's extremely hard to get on a first playthrough, and one because I must have missed something somewhere along the line). 785/1000 for a single playthrough is fine for me though :)
Worth a rental/cheap buy Davey?
I've just picked up The Godfather from work for a week, should be worth a go. I remember seeing Davey play it ages ago and it looked good.

Jen - absolutely, I enjoyed it for the most part. A few annoying bits here and there combat wise, but an enjoyable storyline, especially if like me you're a fan of Greek mythology.
And The Godfather is great, I've still got my copy as I always mean to go back to it and finish it off, especially with the sequel due this year.
I'll keep an eye out for Rise of the Argonauts then :) Pity work haven't got it. But next time round when I sign up with Lovefilm again, I'll stick it on the list. Looks good fun and I love Greek Mythology :D
Played a bit of The Godfather earlier just to try it out/check the disc works. Looks good to me :D
If I'm still enjoying it when my rental's up, might see if I can find it for less than £10 in Game as I've still got a gift card from there.
Got golden compass on rental today, truely woeful. Not even good enough to whore points from. An autosave that throws up 'checkpoint' nut doesn't actually save til you finish a whole chapter. Twice I went back to the game today to find it wasn't saving.
Back in the post.
The save system is appalling on Golden Compass. But it wasn't so terrible for me that I didn't complete it.
It is pretty bad though ;D
I was considering The Golden Compass as I'd enjoyed Spiderwick Chronicles... think I might give it a wide berth now.
I did the first two levels of Quantum of Solace earlier and really enjoyed it. To all those that recommended it, ta!
I also sullied my gamer profile earlier with Avatar... It popped through the door while I playing with my little girl; I stuck it in, got all 1k and stuck it back in the envelope and went out to post it back (I have a post box outside my house). The postie was still only about 8 houses futher along... lol.
EveOnline... im hooked again, for the 4th or 5th time.

I don't know how you managed it. For me it's right up there with Jumper as the worst game to have graced my 360.
One of my mates is a total score whore, worse than anyone on here, he even checks wyrdo's profile for hints on easy 1k's to rent. I phoned him up as soon as I took the game out of the drive and the first thing I said as he picked up the phone was "how the **** did you play through that ****"
For once even he couldn't justify the 700 points he got from it. ;D
Every year around this time I go on a bit of a rental whoring session. I run into a game like Golden Compass and I have to question why the hell I'm wasting gaming hours with some load of old pap when I have a shelf half full of excellent MP games that I should be playing.
That number is a weird thing, If it had been trophys only and just a achievement picture I doubt anyone would have bothered much.

It's a weird thing really Danny, but no doubt genius from Microsoft to do so.
Jumper was poor, but there are much worse games on the Xbox360, Xmen 3 for one.

I'd seen Jumper on everyones profile and assumed it wasn't too bad...
Of all the whore point games I've played they've all had something to offer from the day or two I've played them. The only one I've genuinely hated was LOST and I'm well documented on that ;)
I'm definately planning on getting Cars, Surfs Up and probably Prince Caspian on rental at some point soon as well :)
NokkonWud
13-02-2009, 15:10
Jumper doesn't take long, which is a good job as you need to complete it twice ( I messed up and actually had to do it thrice), but I thought the combat at least added something a little different.
Surfs Up is actually pretty good, I completed it twice as the achievements never went on my profile for some crazy reason. Cars I couldn't get away with. Not played Prince Caspian.

13-02-2009, 16:01
I thought Jumper was ok, certainly not the worst game I've played. I had to go through it 3 times as well as I messed up on an achievement on my 2nd playthrough.
Lost I thought wasn't too bad. I've never watched the TV series at all so found the story somewhat interesting (though I'm sure the story in the game is not one that's on TV).
I enjoyed Surfs Up too, that was fairly decent for the 4 hours or so that it took to 1k it.
QoS is excellent fun :) if you ever want a go at the MP, let me know as I've still got my copy :)
I'm definately up for some :) I'll give you a nudge though I'll probably finish sp first.
I gave Fear 2 a quick 20min blast this evening on the PC. I am rather impressed in that my old 8800GTS can handle it at full tilt still giving a solid 60fps during action scenes!
It does smack of a console port, however its not that badly done! The use of sound is excellent as per the previous game and there seems to be a lot more interaction with the player than the lights flickering ala Fear 1. Quite impressed with the AI in room sequences. You do genuinely get flanked and held up by cover fire while someone sneaks around.
Couple of gripes, due to the port I guess. Once you switch the machine gun to 3-shot burst mode it becomes a lot easier. Could be harping back to my UT days but its very easy to get all three in as head shots. I could clear a room without needing to reload and without "bullet time". I think the firefights are setup for you to go charging in guns blasting. Take a strategical look bearing in mind you are only one guy then it could fall down.
The other thing I've noticed is NPC's seem to be four foot wide. They can push you in a direction and you can't get past them, even if they are at the edge of a corridor.
I'm glad that we have a sequel to FEAR as I always liked the game. I'll see how I feel after a few hours playing.

I do fancy Fear 2, I'll get it when it goes cheap. I was actually a fan of the first on on Xbox360, although it's achievement distribution was awful. Sadly the second one has done it again :(.
I enjoyed Surfs Up too, that was fairly decent for the 4 hours or so that it took to 1k it.
I remember that game because I rented it and you had it at the exact same time. The game that put us both through the 30k barrier ;D
Mates on his way over with his game of Rapala Fishing. Gonna give that a try this afternoon :)

Reminds me, I'll have to organize a 50 tiers of Horde game, still need the achievement as I'm sure several others do too.
I'm actually thinking of buying the new maps, such is my love for solo bot play. Will then end up a free maps?

Though I liked the combat in demo it's way too scary for me .. I also still need some time to get over Dead Space.
I finished Quantum of Solace on 007 this morning and nabbed all the single player achievements. Over all I loved it and while it certainly wasn't that hard there were a few moments that induced a swearathon.

No, I nearly bought it a few times but as you know I've generally avoided horror games/movies etc ever since having the girls. I used to love a good scary film or game as well.
I've not had much time to game the last few days, but last night I thought I'd finally give CoD:WaW a go.
It's decent enough, but lacking a certain something that I can't put my finger on :/

I think I'll play through it quite swiftly and sell it on asap to fund other games I want, most notably Sega Mega Drive Collection, The Godfather and Rise of the Argonauts.
Just about to have an afternoon of Scene It:BoS as my Mum's very kindly funded the purchase of the new DLC as she wants a go of it :D
