Finding I can't settle into a game since Fallout 3, I need something with a strong storyline again I think. :( I want a new RPG but I've played everything that's currently available :/
There's not much I've played that you haven't but you could give Blue Dragon another go. I really did enjoy it and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
There's also Kameo or Test Drive Unlimited. Both are corkers and offer a lot of fun for your money. :)

Okay, much like those 2 show offs above, gonna write my own little thing.
Currently playing Fifa 09: Ultimate Team, the DLC for Fifa 09 which was just released. I was a bit unsure about it all, but after getting my head around it I must say, for 800mp it's a complete bargain and offers so much. It's like the best parts of Fifa and Forza 2 in one and had this been in the original release of Fifa 09 it could well be the main mode in it. Superb, possibly the best DLC I've ever bought.
Secondly is, or more accurately, was Fallout 3 which I scooped the full 1100/1100, although that now stands at 1100/1200 thanks to The Pitt DLC, which I purchased, downloaded and then found along with thousands of others that it simply doesn't work. Bethesda are at work fixing it and getting it ready hopefully for release today.
Then there is Resident Evil 5 which I've just got, but much like Dead Space I'm finding it a little slow to get into, but enjoying it as I play. Beautiful graphically, decent voice work, good sound and an intriguing story all make it an enjoyable experience, but something just isn't gripping me, I do think I made a mistake starting it in Single Player rather than Co-Op, thankfully I'm still near the start though so I can start it again with someone who hasn't played it through yet. Anyone?

Good point :) I couldn't get into it initially but I know RPGs do take ages to get into. Might give that another go after Condemned.
I used to have Kameo but wasn't overly keen :( Just not my sort of thing. Work's got TDU so might rent that :D
Cheers for the tips :D
Nokkon: I'll have RE5 in about 2 weeks time if that's any good.

Is it really that good? I'll have to download the trial and give it a go then. Can you explain what you do in it as I've not seen anything yet that gives a decent explanation of it.

If I had to describe it as anything I'd describe it an almost RPG-esque addition which fits beautifully. For any mode you don't understand the Ultimate Team DLC will play a video tutorial narrated by Clive Tyldesley and Andy Townsend too, which is a really nice touch, so you always know what you're doing.
You start the game and are asked to give your team a name and an abbreviation for your team name, then you're presented with a pack of player cards (a starter pack) which contains several 'Bronze' level players, as well as playing kits (home and away), team crest, training ground and some additional cards such as training cards (ability to give player morale or fitness), injury cards (to repair broken legs or injured backs) or contract cards, to give players further contracts.
After you're dealt your cards you are asked to Create-A-Captain, a custom player (whose stats you cannot change to start with), similar to that you would have created for Be A Pro, he is given a long contract of 50+ games, so you don't need to worry. What I've found from playing online is that everyone had the same idea, a 6'7" monster :p.
All players contained within 3 catagories of cards, Bronze, Silver or Gold, the better players are obviously Gold. Amongst these 3 catagories are managers as well as further cards like those mentioned above (fitness/training etc..) as well as new shirts, new footballs, new crests, league crests etc... Gold cards are better than Silver which are of course, better than Bronze, so a Gold training card might add on +15 morale points where as a Bronze one would add +4. The cards also offer numbers on the 3 levels too, so for example a contract card that offers +20 to a Bronze player may only add +12 to a Silver player and only +7 to a Gold rated player.
Players are signed with 'contracts' which is basically just a number of games those players can play before they 'expire', purchasing or trading (I'll come to that later) contract cards can extend the length of the contract (the same must be done to Managers too).
Not only is it hard to keep your squad together, sometimes sacrificing one player to keep another, particularly your better players, your team balance is also important, with a flat back for having better teamwork if they all speak English for example, this system works all over the team, so you can't just expect a team to gel immediately. To do this you are constantly swapping and changing players in and out to try and build the 'Ultimate Team'.
Additional packs of cards can be purchased using points earned through winning matches, however this is where the trial for the game is particularly useless without buying it, which I'll explain in a second. Packs are in order, Bronze through Gold as you'd expect. Bronze cards are unlockable after 6 games have been played, Silver after 9 and Gold after 12, this is of course not difficult as if you've played Fifa, you know how addictive it is. The problem with the trial is you only get 5 games to play meaning you're left with the starter pack only. The cards also have different values, Bronze are worth 500 points, Silver are 2500 and Gold are 5000 points. A nice little touch is that you can get Gold players in Silver packs and possibly Gold and Silver in Bronze, but it's incredibly unlikely, but it's a nice idea.
Each game you play is rated on different things, you get more points for the more goals you score, possession percentage, pass percentage etc... If you've ever played the 'Lounge' mode in Fifa 09 you get the idea, as an example, a 3 or 4-nil victory on Semi-Pro difficulty will net you around 500 points. You can earn this points in either single or multiplayer games, which adds further depth to the MP mode found in Fifa 09 (those who own Fifa 09 UT I can never see playing 'vanilla' Fifa 09 MP again) however you won't be able to simply race to 12 games to buy a Gold pack because your player contracts will expire meaning you'll be spending 500 points every 5 or so matches to fill in some gaps, or you could use the trade section...
You aren't just limited to single games either, there are 24 trophies IIRC to win in the game also, which are won by entering online tournaments where you play a knockout competition to win trophies, each competition requires a certain number of 'Skill Points' to enter which are earned from playing offline or online single player matches.
The trade section is one of the areas where this becomes somewhat of a genius mode. Anyone who has played Forza 2 will be hard pressed to argue that the marketplace isn't the best thing about it, and you get almost an identical system here, where by you can sell your players on and people can search for specific players (possibly to try and keep players speaking the same language in a team, or to fill the collection book - mentioned below) and make a bid, for example, you can expect around 10,000-30,000 for a Ronaldinho or Rooney, so even if you buy a Gold pack you're not guaranteed a top player, many of the Gold players aren't even what you'd call top class, but certainly rank higher than Silver or Bronze, as an example, Luis Valencia of Wigan is rated Gold, as is Gianfranco Zola as a Manager, where as I don't think you'd necessarily class either as that in your head. However, there is a reason for this, because not only are you able to offer money for players through an auction system (you can set auctions much the same as eBay, 1 to 7 days and even add a 'Buy Now' price), but you can make offers for players with incentives such as coins and players, so for 2,000 coins, a Ribery and a Cannavaro you might get a Cristiano Ronaldo. You can check each auctions end time and attempt to snipe someone, or search out bargains, for example, a Gold player was listed with what I can only thing was an accidental '250 coin' asking price in the 'Buy Now' section when the player was going for over 1,000 for other people in standard auction format (you don't need to add a Buy Now price), sadly I was sniped, and no, I can't remember the player.
Now some people reading this might be thinking, 'Well I'm not gonna be able to sell any Bronze or Silver players', but again, EA have thought of this and added a 'Collection Book' which is most comparible with a Sticker book you may have collected as a child. You can get players and commit them to the collection where you won't be able to get them back or sell them. The book features EVERYTHING, literally thousands of things to collect, from players at teams to team shirts, crests, celebrations, footballs and stadia. The reason this has been added is because if you complete any team line up you are rewarded in handsome fashion, in mine I have started to collect players from the South African team 'Kaiser Chiefs', so if I complete their team I will get a substantial reward in coins - how much I don't know, it doesn't say, but I got 250 points just for getting the 'Coca Cola League 1' crest in a pack of player cards, so I'd expect a good chunk for a full team. The reason I started Kaiser Chiefs is because they are all Bronze players, and from looking at the Marketplace I may have possibly already collected a rarer player than others with 2 of their players appearing a lot, the one I commited to the book I haven't seen anyone selling. It's also a lot easier for me to place a Bronze player in there than a Gold player who are better.
EA have also added the option to literally buy packs of cards in the game for those without the time to play through the almost RPG element of levelling up by using actual Market Place Points, but in a total shock the prices aren't ridiculous, but are also high enough that people won't just take liberties, with the cards coming in at 20, 40 and 80mp a pack, a great deal if you ask me, and something I was expecting double the price (if offered at all).
To describe the depth is almost impossible, what I would say is that for 800mp you're possibly getting the best DLC I've seen from a game, if this was Fifa 09 I would have happily shelled out £40 for it, so that gives you my impressions. When you compare it to any other DLC out there for the same price it really does set a new benchmark, I would even say it offers more than anything that costs more! It even has that same level of excitement when opening a new pack that you had as a kid opening a pack of stickers!!
I've written this a bit all over the place, constantly remembering brilliant little things that are in it, so forgive me if it's a bit hard to follow, I'm happy to describe further.
Really like the sound of that :) Very tempting, and cheers for the summary :D

Been playing Call of Duty 2 all evening. Haven't played it for a couple of years and felt it was time to go through it properly. It's a lot easier than I remember it being, i've been through several level on vet with out getting hit. I am now stuck at the start of the famous D-Day level. God it's a bitch, but I know there's worse to come, with Hill 400 :(.
I'm looking forward to playing CoD2 on Veteran :) Still my favourite CoD game I think.

On a side note, spent about a further 300mp on card packs! Managed to snafu a Daniele De Rossi, who is one of my favourite players in the game, however I've thrown him for sale on the Trade to try and get me some money for more packs, 5,000 starting prince, 40,000 buy now ;).

I succumbed and re-bought Fallout 3. It's very rare that I rebuy a game
However it worked out quite well for me. I sold my copy for £20 and bought a pristine CE copy for £20 :D The bobblehead can go to my slowly growing collection of random models.
And thanks to the sale of Shellshock 2 I can buy the DLC too \o/

Just played through the first chapter on KillZone 2 and wow what an experience from pretty much putting the disk in. I never thought I would see the day that an opening video from the Dawn of War series was bettered. But hell yes this is good.
It has been billed and compared to Gears of War 2. Although the story line is a lot different, so is the pacing upto now. KZ2 feels a lot more intense. Much prefer this to GoW 2. Upto now I got to say I am loving it.

Platinumd Dead Space last night, woop! Was really hard until i got a couple of nodes to get the cutters damage up, the necromorphs really take some punishment in this and with the ammo shortage it made things difficult. As soon as it got it up to the sort of damage it did in normal the ammo started to accumulate so i could play less safe. Didn't bother upgrading my health at all until the gun was maxxed out, i figured why bother, its often better to just die and try again if you take loads of damage. Also bought the most powerful gun, forget the name, as enemies only drop ammo for guns you own and the ammo for that gun sells for 1k a pop, result of this was plenty of money to play with.
Tactic paid off, didn't actually die that much, probably less than 10 times, had 100k in the bank and over 30 medium medpacks in storage come the final boss.
Gonna calm down on the gaming for the next few days and get some serious work done, then next week i'm going to hit KZ2 multiplayer hard so i can get that all important honor rank #1 trophy for platinum (top 1% of players for the week). I'm turning into a right trophy whore.
I'm now playing:
FarCry2 - LOVING it, I love Sandbox type games, and this is a grown up version of Just Cause (which was one of my faves)
SR2 - Done the main mission(s), now finishing off the activities like Pimping, Fights, and the CD, tags etc.

how many games (inc extras and bits & bobs) can one tend to get on the 60gb 360? :)
Davey_Pitch
02-04-2009, 14:06
It all depends on how big the install file is. I think the Gears of War 2 install is around 6.5GB in size, so assuming that is a rough average, I reckon about 7-8 games could be installed with enough room for DLC and various extras.
Normally I would but I have Fallout 3 installed and mods for that and Oblivion. So no space left really on my feable 20GB HDD :(
Just delete Obvlion for a week. You can always add it back, doesn't take long.
I'm also currently hooked on Fallout 3. Working my way through the achievements at the moment and seeing a few new things as I'm being evil this time round. I keep feeling guilty when I'm evil though :o

I was the same Jen, though there are some quality lines in there for being evil. I started being more good towards the end of the game though as my moral compass wouldn't let me be too evil for too long. I prefer being a bad ass like in Mass Effect rather than a true evil character.

All singles titles obtained on Rumble Roses \o/. Now to put twice that effort in to get all costumes. The twice that effort for the 1k....fun :(
Finished Battlefield Bad Company both on hard and normal and played a single ranked multiplayer game which I thought was superb and lot of fun even with complete strangers. Great game despite some annoying tank kill, respawn miles from where you were, 3 minute run, repeat scenerios.
Finished the Guitar career on hard in Guitar Hero World Tour and quite enjoyed it. Didn't fail a single song so either I'm getting better or it's not too hard. Started again on Bass on Extreme and so far so good; even 100% a song.
3 Chapters into Resident Evil 5 and playing coop with Nokkon. After dissing the demo the full game has blown me away with it's ridiculously high production values and great pacing. I also got used to the controls within minutes and there really isn't an issue there imo.
4 chapters into The Bourne Conspiracy. Controls are awful, Boss fights on Assassin difficulty are a pain, it's extremely linear etc etc; but I'm quite enjoying myself. Go figure!

Has anyone here tried Flock? It's a game that a fair few mates have been working on and I reckon it is quite fun for a quick blast but I might be a bit biased in that, however there should be a free demo of it so I figure there is no harm in me pimping it out too. :) A couple of points though if you are going to play it on PC you really want to be doing so with a gamepad and secondly it might not be 100% with Vista yet, some people report no problems while others say it crashes.

I didn't actually find it that difficult - once I'd figured out the route I wanted to take it only took me fifteen minutes or so. Next time I'm down your way I'll have a go ;D

Mile High Club too me hours until I found the shotgun that is... I didn't find the campaign too hard on Veteran and it was certainly easier for the most part than COD3 and COD2. I'm not sure I have the stamina for another COD Veteran run through so I've stayed well clear of COD5 so far.
I tried Flock yesterday with my bairn and whilst it's certainly charming and well presented it just didn't hold my attention. Half way through the 2nd challenge I found myself feeling I'd already fully understood all the game was going to offer. Then my 4 year old turned to me and said "I'm bored" and we turned it off.
*edited for spelling: not enough sleep & typing one handed with baby in other
CoD5 isn't as good anyway. It's also meant to have the most frustrating veteran campaign of them all iirc.
I'm hoping to work my way through CoD2's veteran mode soon, it's still my favourite CoD :)
Time for a rant.
Guitar Hero...
A year or so ago I finished GHII on hard and GHIII on medium all 5 stars and on hard except after 100+ goes I just couldn't beat Lou.
..forward to now..
I finished GH:WT on hard. Pretty straight forward and I quite enjoyed it. On Bass on expert I've managed to finish all the songs then hit the last one before the encore and bam. The usual GH trick of suddenly really ramping up the difficulty. Had 20 or so goes and go out at the same point. I think with a little practice and no kids running around me I'll do it though.
So I thought, with all this additional practice let's go back to Lou. Fired it up and much better, I'm pretty much pulling off all the solo stuff now with ease and then Wham, Lou hits me with a double up, I somehow manage to stay in it and even pick up the attack, which I hit him with and he shrugs off with ease. 4 or so more attacks on me and I'm out though. 10 more goes and a similar story. I cannot believe how hard this is; it's random which attacks he sends at you and some are game enders, any attacks I send at him have negligible effect. I don't think I've played anything quite so demoralising. It's the first time in ages I've come close to smashing the guitar and disc up.
Do the GH developers have no idea how to finish games? I agree the finales should be tough but they shouldn't feel out of reach. It's one thing the Rock Band guys have always got right, GHII and Rock Band were much better at progressing the difficulty.

I really struggled with the battles until i realized you can stack up 3 'attacks' and use them all at once. The result of this is just hang on till your opponent hits a difficult bit, hit them with all three attacks and they'll fail.
This tactic actually becomes more effective the higher the difficulty as they miss more notes in the time it takes them to shrug off all three attacks. This does rely on luck somewhat however as three rubbish attacks at once won't do much, i just keep trying again until i happen to get three good ones stacked.
That's exactly what I did Streeteh :)

Same here. It must have taken me 5 months to beat Lou, though I went some time between goes. The secret is just staying alive long enough to reach Johnny's solo with 2-3 attacks stacked up, and using them at the right time.
Cheers guys I'll give this a go though I never seem to be able to handle all the attacks to see me through to get 3 of my own. I'm stubborn though so I won't give in; well, not yet anyway.
Still playing Call Of Duty 4 Multiplayer, can't believe I'm not bored of it yet :p
I'll be spending much of the long weekend playing Silent Hill Homecoming. Fell behind a bit with my review deadline for it :o And need to crack on.

Call of duty: United offensive expansion pack.
Stuck on a bit at the moment, I have to snipe 8 people with anti tank weapons, from a bell tower, before they can damage our tanks. Much harder than it sounds, because the scope on my gun has no crosshair, and I keep getting shot at by light and heavy machineguns.

It's what always happens when a game series is handed over to new developers. When a concept is concieved by someone they have a whole image of their invention and because of this it is realized to the best of the developers abilities, along with that they can better cultivate it in future titles as it is their idea they know exactly how it works and how they can build on it. When a new developer gets his hands on an idea all they have access to is what has been done, the ideas, visions and understanding of the world in which the game takes place are lost.
Same can be seen with so many other games in the past, as soon as they're handed over to new people they become lost.
I'm addicted to Worms on XBL atm. Constantly kicking Psymonkee bum is fun ;D

Hitting SF4 hard again...
I'm not sure whether SF4 is the greatest or worst thing to ever happen to me regarding gaming. I'm utterly addicted and when i win a good match the sense of satisfaction is unrivalled, however the number of lame 'giefers' and disconnecters really take away from the experience. Another thing that is bugging me as of late is that people are either far worse than me or far better; i either hand someone their ass or have it handed to me, both outcomes result in me learning little. There are few people who are on the same level as me anymore, i think the problem is i have the potential to be good but haven't played a beatemup since Tekken 2 on the PS1. Other people who enjoy fighters probably have indulged themselves over the years and thus their dexterity and reactions have carried forwards, i however am pretty much learning from scratch. I know how to play but am incapable of playing very well. Then there are the low enders who just can't play beatemups and are unwilling to learn, they just spam dragon punches and are easy prey for anyone with a modicum of skill.
Anyway, boring rant aside, yeah, SF4, love it or hate it it's addictive as hell.

Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts, picked it up cheap secondhand, took a short while to get into it but wow what a great game. Reminders me so much of the Mario 3D games, and if I do say it's actually better. So much to do it's keeping me hooked (not even tempted to look at the other new stuff I've got , GOW2, Fallout 3 and something else).

Bingo
Many players simply mash the R1 button, this unleashes a constant stream of 'lariats' (spinning clotheslines) which are very high priority and very heavy on damage. As all they have to do to execute this rather effective move is press one button they can just mash it during your combo and if you mistime an attack, even by a few miliseconds which you would get away with normally, he'll do his lariat and more than likely knock off more health than you did from him during the bit of combo you managed. Then there's the more skilled players who use his throws which are incredibly high priority and also tend to break combos well.
Solution against the lariat spammers is to stay back and keep out of range, this is really boring as it just involves lots of zoning and quick jabs from range. Very dull. The solution to the latter is use a decent ranged character, people like Abel (my main) who also rely on close range attacks will lose out to giefs meaty throws. From reading around on enthusiast websites it seems Gief is at the center of many character blanance debates. I would be happy if they just lowered his health a bit as at present he deals some of the most damage but can also take more punishment than most characters. This results in you chipping away at him for a while only to make a single mistake that he then capitalizes on, doing huge amounts of damage, and you're back to square one.
In essence, i hate him. He's either boring to beat or he'll beat you. You also tend to find its the gief players that quit a game when they seem to be losing, i think his easy to execute lariat lends itself to players wanting easy wins. In the hands of a skilled player he's very impressive but imo bordering on unfair at times.
With that said, i've got all my ranked match related trophies now so i don't often venture into the world of the gief.
Rar. Just finished No Fighting In The War room - that run through the silo's was tough. Can smell the 1k now :)

I've also fired up Doom 3 again and its actually not that bad now. When it came out the hardware couldn't cope (partially due to being coded by chimps) with all the patches applied it's not that bad. So far that is, we'll see later on. I got it when the ID pack was on offer with Steam over xmas, something like £10 or £15 for all Dooms, Quakes, wolfenstein, Hexen (rubbish) which was a bargain.
On the list is the Quake mission packs as I never got them all first time round
I know I'm about 10 years behind everyone on this forum, but having had 4 days off I managed to get a copy of Mirror's Edge and I have to say that I'm loving it! What a cool concept, irritatingly addictive and so fun. If they could do a map of PAris or London one day that would be fantastic!

Playing Fifa 09 UT. Like Nokkon says, it's a bit like crack, trying to build a team. I decided to try and build a team of Spaniards (I had 3 of them) before I found out via the EA forums just how many people are doing the same thing. May go for a Brazilian or Argentinian team instead to make it easier to get a full team.
Did have an incredible bug last night though. Got Van Persie as a trade and in his first game, he curled a 20 yarder into the top corner to give me a 2-0 lead. However, instead of the usual goal celebration, he dropped to his knees and it registered the goal as an own goal instead! Bizarre! Thankfully I went on to win 5-1 so it had no real effect, but very strange indeed.

Yeah I thought I'd see what HMV's trade in prices were like and was quite happy with it :)
They even gave me £4.50 for a copy of the first Blitz the League game which didn't have a manual, I bought it for £5 ages ago! So not bad at all.
Looking at CEX's prices on their site, HMV were slightly less than them but in my case, I can't go to CEX anyhow making HMV the best at the moment and of course with 4200 points for £30, it's excellent.

I finished my second play through of Mass Effect, still need to play it another two times to get all the points. Annoying. Achievements should encourage replay, but to get the 'have person x in your party most of the game' achievements, you are locked into playing a certain way. Which goes against the general idea of a RPG.
I've now restarted Tomb Raider Underworld. I got to the start of the 'rainy jungle' level (the name escapes me right now) before and in an afternoon got there again. I was using a walkthrough to pick up the hidden treasures on the way, but it's spoiling my enjoyment of the game, so I've stopped that so I can just bash through it and do a second pass to scoop up missing achievements.

Well, I've finally beaten Guitar Hero: World Tour on expert; woohoo! After getting past the song I was stuck on the final song (the infamous BYOB) wasn't too bad and it only took me a few tries. Still can't come close to beating Lou on Hard on GH:III though.
Finished Penny Arcade: Episode 1. Excellent stuff if a little frantic at times. I missed out on 2 achievements due to an autosave after the final boss though I don't mind too much. Going to wait and see if they discount episode 2 before I buy it though.
Tidied up Lego Batman with 1000/1000. I finished the story with my little girl and played through quite a few of the missions free and found myself with a little time yesterday and polished off the remaining achievements. Great game and imo the best Lego game to date.
Really enjoying Resident Evil 5. Played one chapter with Nokkon but due to time/physical constraints it's looking more a solo job which isn't too bad as Shiva isn't as bad as she could be. just started playing F.E.A.R on PC - not too bad... though seems a little repetitive
I've planned the games I'm focusing on now so that I stop flitting from one game to another :D
Currently I'm playing through Dead Space which I suspect probably won't take that long to finish at the rate I'm going! I'm enjoying it but I've got a feeling it's going to get a bit repetitive after a while, however I think overall I'll still enjoy it.
Then the list consists of Call of Duty 2 (with an aim to do veteran at last!), finish off Condemned (as I've had it forever), finish off the last few Fallout 3 achievements, stopped for now as I've burned out a bit on it. Plus for a change from the survival horror theme, Grand Theft Auto IV :D Fancy going back to this at last.

Bought gold packs with the rest and managed to land a big fish, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, so gonna train him up to 99 and get rid I think. Got others that are neither here nor there, but shouldn't be hard to sell for a couple of thousand each, like Robben.
Davey_Pitch

Pernia is a quality left back, with a cracking free kick on him, something like 89 accuracy and 97 power, so anything close range he can just blast into the top corner.
I'm thinking of training RvP up to 99 just to get rid of him as well, as I don't use him but not many people seem to want him. Tamudo is turning into a beast, 97 pace and 88 finishing, and he's scoring about 2 a game. Also got Yakubu and Gomis as my reserve strikers, both of whom score for fun when they're playing (Gomis is faster, Yakubu stronger, so a good partnership), though I may look to get rid of Yakubu for a French striker to improve the chemistry when Gomis is playing.
Hopefully I'll put a good few hours into this tonight. I always get distracted by the trade forums on EA's website which means I only play half as many games as I should. I'll try to ignore them tonight, play enough games to get a few gold packs, then look to trade off all my excess players for a couple of thousand each. Really hoping to land a big player like Ronaldo or Messi so I can train them and sell them for muchos coinage.

Yeah, RVP seems to be sold loads (or attempted to), but no one seems to buy dutch as they have too many CAM/CDM/W positions to fill rather than standard 4-4-2.
If you land Torres you're laughing, you get ridiculous money.
Davey_Pitch
17-04-2009, 21:06
If I got Torres I would probably keep him and either have him as my main or reserve striker. I've got 2 completely Spanish midfields (bar a backup LM) and 3 Spanish full backs to I'll probably just have 2 Spanish teams so I can get the benefit of having Aragones as my manager.
Stuck on Fear 2 on a quicktime event. Killing vanec. Mash the right mouse button. Straight from the xbox, except i'm mashing the thing when told so fast I got cramps. I then used both index fingers to rapidly tap as you can do it quicker. Still not fast enough. Absolute rubbish, I'll have another go in the morning :(
edit:-
Had an idea which was to rebind a keyboard key. Still not fast enough
The solution is at hand though, I have a gamepad that I can map the keys to. It has a turbo button that you can set the timings to, 0.09sec quick enough? ;D

Opposing Force up next :>
I've spent quite a bit of this weekend playing Monopoly. Got Lovefilm back for a month as my Mum wanted to try out Lego Batman so I've bunged a few scorewhore games on :D
Quite enjoying Monopoly although one of the achievements is a bit of a grind. Haven't really scorewhored in a while so makes a change.
Battlefield 2142. Not sure about it yet, it was a right pain to get going. Incremental patching, Punkbuster problems, blank error messages, EA Downloader refusing to download my game again. Yep, that's right, purchase a game through EA Online and download it and all's fine until 6 months later. They wipe it off your download permissions, it's in your purchase history but you have to pay again if you want it. You can't even save a local copy of the installation file, EA Downloader won't let you access its cache as its downloading, and once it's downloaded and installed, it automatically deletes! What a crock of ****!
Anyway, despite all of that I'm playing it at the moment and it seems quite OTT compared to Battlefield 2. Going to see if I can get into it more and get some unlocks (I'm sure it's better once I've gotten the proper weapons)
If anybody else fancies trying this game, get a hard copy for christ sake. :(

I never really got into BF2142, although I didn't really give it much of a chance. It kind of seemed pointless really - didn't offer anything over BF2 which was still very popular at the time. I guess if I'd given it more of a go I might have started to enjoy it, but I generally prefer my war games to be in modern times.

Used to love BF2. I was no good at it, but it was a great game. I remember upgrading to 4Gb of RAM so I'd be first to load into the level.
I finished Tomb Raider Underworld on the 360. I have mixed feelings about it. The plot was completely forgetful and after all these years the control scheme and camera are still completely insane. Still, some of the level design was inspired. I got the full 1000 points in one playthrough, but I'm not going to spend any money to pick up the addons.
Anyone considering it, pick up Legend and Anniversary on the cheap for a better experience, the former for the fun value and the later for a challenge.

I'm feeling like a sad little geek now. In Fifa 09 Ultimate Team, you can train your players using training cards. Each card has a positive effect on one skill, and a small negative effect on another skill. Using a Head Coach you can use these cards to really good effect by increasing the positive effects, and even turning the negatives into positives (ie, turning a -1 on shooting into a +1 instead). Trying to figure out exactly which head coach is best for which card can be a pain at times, so I've just made a quick Excel workbook so I can put the training card details in and instantly see who would be the best coach to use for that card. :o

Ooooh, I want the workbook! there's a points calculator kicking around too, I have that on my PC, but not tried it yet!
Fifa Ultimate Team is arguably the best DLC I've ever had for a game, I love it. I still believe that had it been in Fifa 09 from that start it's all anyone would play anyway.
Peggles awesome how come I've never heard of it before! Stuck on the level that looks like a car :(
Had a few scorewhoring days lately although not to the detriment of fun :D
Besides Monopoly, I ordered the Trivial Pursuit/Burnout Paradise: Ultimate Box set for £16 off softuk as I've been wanting a copy of Trivial Pursuit for social gaming since it came out.
Trivial Pursuit is excellent fun. Besides liberally throwing out achievements, it's just plain fun and makes a refreshing change from Scene It which me and my Mum had played to death a bit too much! Not tried the free movie DLC for Trivial Pursuit yet but that's bound to be handy.
Just had an hour of Burnout Paradise and that's good fun too. Perhaps not something I'd have normally bought but as part of the bundle, it's great. I haven't properly played a Burnout game since Burnout 3 on the Xbox, forgotten how fast it is ;D Quite liking the sandbox style feel to it, vaguely reminds me of Need for Speed Underground 2 (my favourite street racing game in recent years). Looks like it may provide great stress relief too :D

I finally finished Far Cry 2 - I've just started playing L4D and have loaded Fallout3.. Anyone know the average gameplay length for Fallout?
Still playing through Mirror's Edge on the Xbox360 at the moment - Loving it  ; A really pleasantly different game and I'm loving the number of options you can play through i.e. find a different route / minimise conflict / sneak, disarm & shoot the place up hehe!
I've started RE5 but have to try and play that at night with Emma in the room for maximum scaryness! ;D Very impressed with the graphics but getting annoyed at my in-game-partner who seems insistant on shooting through me to get to the zombies! ;D
Looking to pick up Rockband/guitar hero soon (for the whole familia) - anybody know if you can buy rock band with just a guitar yet?
Then it's going to be L4D, fallout 3, fable II and then some classics and arcades i.e. gears of war, dishwasher etc. :)

I'm the same Jen. I think reviewing has taken away the whoring bug for me as whenever I was bored in the past I'd put a whoring game in and get some easy points. Nowadays a fair bit of my gaming time is spent doing something for review, so when I get quiet times I tend to play my own games for fun. I'm even thinking of changing my Lovefilm account from 3 games at a time to just 1, as I can't get through 3 rentals at a time any more.
Makes perfect sense. I've got Lovefilm set to 3 games at the moment but that's due to my Mum as she's got 2 on the go (Lego Batman and Civ Revolutions) but if it was just me, I'd probably cancel it for a bit.
I'm trying to focus on just a few games at the time which is sort of working. Damn my attention span :p

Heh, I just have too much I want to play again. I want to re-finish my Mass Effect playthrough to get the completionist achievements, then do it all again. I want to try and do Bioshock twice, once on easy to get all the audio diaries and weapon upgrades, then another on Hard to get the final 2 achievements. I want to go through Condemned finally. I fancy getting back into Tiger Woods again. CoD4 on Veteran is really tempting me as well. Grid is still sat on the shelf unplayed since I bought it.
All that is assuming I can drag myself away from Fifa/Fallout, and not get any new games like Resident Evil 5 and The Godfather 2. I need there to be more hours in the day :D
I'd best not list how many games I want to get finished :o
But for now I'm concentrating on GTA4, Silent Hill, Dead Space and Fallout 3 (only got a few achievements to wrap up there).

Now this is a game with real cult style :) I love the animation, juxtaposition and the general dark undertones and goth-comic mis-en-scene.

On pre patched vanilla I still use plenty of filters on my server list to bring it down to a sortable amount. There has Never been a time night or day when I haven't immedietly found a 64 man server with plus 60 players on & in most cases I have a choice of around 6 with spaces & maybe another 6 without spaces, These are just the 64 man servers with pings of less than 40 my end. Loads of servers still up whether you want vehicle servers or Infantry only action. Patch just released which will breathe even more life into the game. Tons of people play this game regularly & most play it properly with Team play being a must or you die quick & often & you'll get yourself tea bagged till you shrivel. ;D
Best thing about this game talking to others who have come back to BF2 is Anybody can kill Anybody. The hardcore action Forces you into a squad for survival then once in & amongst your own gang the Buzz starts, Once you have the buzz for roaming Huge maps with a bunch of mental FPS'ers armed to the teeth you'll Never stop playing. ;D
You cannot beat roaming a map mobbed up & running into another gang of heavily armed FPS'ers, To say it kicks off is the understatement of the year.

Is this the MMO ? :) If so, I've heard great things about the community of this game :)
LoTR Online is a fantastic MMO :) I reviewed the expansion pack Mines of Moria earlier in the year and really did enjoy my time with it. If I was still into MMOs, I'm pretty sure I'd have switched to it from WoW as WoW's just got too stale now.
Jen I've always thought of you as a strict 'consoler' for some reason!
What MMO's were you into etc? :)
Noooo, only in recent years although I still play the odd PC game if it looks good.
For years I was a hardened PC gamer and obsessive hardware nut that occasionally dabbled in overclocking.
I've played mostly every major (and a few minor) MMOs in recent years, except Warhammer Online. But I mainly used to play Everquest 1 and WoW, although I've also dabbled in Dark Ages of Camelot, Eve Online, Age of Conan, Guild Wars, Lineage 2, Everquest 2, LoTR Online, Tabula Rasa, Ultima Online, erm *thinks* Probably quite a few more too ;D
Ah right! How wrong was I then! :o
I used to play Vanilla WoW casually with friends some years ago and loved it, was great fun exploring the place, no pressure of a high end guild, just socialising with some co-op gameplay. I really enjoyed it but then we all got engaged in busier RL activity and most of us quit.
I'd like to go back if I could find a mature guild who aren't obsessed with RAIDING/farming etc- but that will have to be for a time when I've got less work on :)
The new 360 I'm very impressed with for the time being and it's going to take a lot to draw me away from that for the time being! :)
I sometimes go back to WoW every now and then to get a fix then remember I get bored too fast ;D But I'll let you know when I do next :) Tends to be a mixture of money and time (or lack of both) that stops me playing :o
I was never fussed about raiding etc, I did all that on Everquest 1 and now prefer a more relaxed time!Partly why I've switched to consoles so much, it's the lazy option set up wise ;D
Definately, I tend to join RP servers- not because I like pretending I'm an elf or whatever, but generally the attitudes and environment is more immersive and less L33t! :p
If my work calms down somewhat and I end up resubbing I'll make a post to see if any BD'ers end up in WoW again :)
In the meantime, the moneys shall be parted on some more xbox :)
Yeah RP servers tend to have more mature players in my experience. Fewer 12 year olds with too much free time :D

Oh and, still playing SF4, but here's a tip; if you've never used an arcade stick for more than 5 mins when you were 14, don't buy one for SF4 and expect it to be an easy adjustment. I've gone from semi-good on the pad to utterly dire D:

Is this the MMO ? :) If so, I've heard great things about the community of this game :)
As Haly said it is the MMO version and it is a great game to play with Snowbourn being the main european server of choice for a lot of people. Good thing about Snowbourn is there are a lot of mature kins which have age restrictions so they aren't full of the whining annoying kids that float about in MMO's. Similar with the RP servers lots of mature kins there who take it seriously.
It has gone through another free book update recently with lothlorien finally being added on after a delay from launch last year. With this book they have made the levelling from 1-40 a lot easier with reduced xp requirements per level, a quest tracker/pointer for your maps if you want to use it.
Like MMO's people either like it or hate it or cant get into it but thats normal.

Dabbled in a bit of Burnout Paradise: good fun so far although I doubt it's the sort of game that I'll complete but fun to drop in and out of.
Played a little of Dead Space but not really feeling it now. It's a bit repetitive really, lots of backtracking and samey places. It's not bad but not really enthusing me now. And I can't believe how unscary it is! However I'll probably complete it as it's pretty short if nothing else.
