Windows live messenger

So I rebuilt my rig and found shedloads of dust in it (all now dumped on the floor before being eaten by the Dyson). Then I had fun trying to install XP again due to corrupt SATA drivers...

Then I installed MSN... The only choice was live (i may still be asleep from the weekend though) and to be perfectly honest then I'm less than impressed..

It takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r to log in, claiming that I have a connection problem and to top it all off it's managed to lose all but 16 of my contacts...

Needless to say then I'll probably be dumping it and heading back to 7.4 as soon as I can be bothered (still lots to do on this rig though)...

Anyone else found it annoying? or is it just (as I suspect) me?

I had similar problems with it so I promptly uninstalled it and forgot about it.

Doesn't take long at all to log in for me...

I do miss the thumbnail pics in the contact list thou.

Works fine for me, but then any IM that actually connects is better than I had before. I don't care about the thumbnails but the best thing is that it allows renaming of contacts :)

That was the main thing, I've lost most of my contacts...

Doesn't really matter how long it takes to connect, or the thumbnails, but not being able to use it for what it's designed to do (ie: talk to friends) makes it pretty useless...

Suppose I'll try and find 7.5 tomorrow, blatted a load of stuf but there's bound to be a copy of it somewhere on this rig...

I had to upgrade to it so that I could block more than 300 people - which seems to be the limit on 7.5 :/ It's been completely patched and hacked to remove all the crap though.

I doubt I've got more than 10 on my block list...although that might be because I always forget to turn it on...:embarassed:

The contacts list problem is a common one. It sorts itself out after a while (and a few restarts).
what's a restart? I don't do them... my PC doesn't get turned off very often either...

I don't restart my machine either. It just goes to sleep.
Does it get tired?
