View Full Version : V Festival
Lineup announced:
http://www.vfestival.com/
In addition to the main players The Killers, Foo Fighters and Snow Patrol – also announced are: Festival favourites Kasabian, party starter Pink, indie rockers James, legendary dance duo Basement Jaxx and Brighton pop entities The Kooks. Plus, Brit award winner Amy Winehouse, The Coral, Lily Allen, Welsh group Manic Street Preachers, British Breakthrough Act Brit winners The Fratellis, 2007 ‘Godlike Genius’ NME award holders Primal Scream and mesmerizing singer songwriter Damien Rice. Also, Britrock outfit Babyshambles, alternative Manchester group, Happy Mondays, Scottish hit Paolo Nutini, indie four piece Editors and Grammy nominated KT Tunstall. Finally chart topper Mika, soulful solo artist James Morrison, Corinne Bailey Rae, dance floor queen Sophie Ellis Bextor, US digital sensations The Fray, celebrated return act The Proclaimers and last but by no means least, platinum selling act The Goo Goo Dolls have been signed up.
That's a pretty damn good lineup. If you're an indie monkey anyway.
Looks pretty good with the exception of Snow Patrol. They have to be the worst band I've ever seen live. Mind you, it'd be worth having to sit through them to see the Foos :D
Yeah, pretty good line up... was almost tempted by the appearence of Killers and Damien Rice, but now I have seen Killers I think I might just ask if I can chill in Pebs' back garden instead :D

I can do open house again if people want to do the Chelmsford weekend. BBQ's and trampolines included!

Would like to go back
Went in 98, I won a compo on The Chart Show and had a limo up there and backstage passes, proper ones, had a beer stood next to Robbie Williams :D

Beats the hell out of last years lineup!
Alas me best mate's wedding a couple of weeks before means certain bankruptcy for that month :(
Britrock outfit Babyshambles
I read that as Britcock. Oops! But then he is....
August may be doable! I was planning another holiday in August after the cottaging meet but I may try to get some V tickets instead.
I'm mega tempted. Need to find the cash though :/

;)
I know I know, but it's a bit naughty! :p We'll talk when I get home dahling ;)
Excluding having no money and finding the time off work, I'd be very interested. Although I'll admit the idea of going to it seems a bit intimidating :embarassed:
But it's got lots of music I like :D
My sister has decided she's going to see the lovely Dave.
I've done Hylands (sp?) Park stuff before (don't think it was V, but it was a concert of some description), so though I don't recognise names (that doesn't mean I've not heard them), I'm up for it. Being Chelmsford, I know I have an escape route should the need arise. :)
Well if people do want to heads down here then everyone is welcome, it ; shouldnt be anywhere near as 'cosy' as NYE....tent in the garden if you prefer (or I can put up the BeastTent) or you can slep on the trampoline :)
If others are going I'll go too....I've not been to one yet which is a bit rude seeing as I can walk there

I feel so old complaining about the price of things ;D
We've decided, we're going, though to Stafford obviously. Does anyone have a Virgin mobile? Pre-sales are open today for their customers.
[edit] nm, mate has 4 PAYG sims :D
[edit2] Ah, looks like it wont work with PAYG.
NEWS UPDATE: KANYE WEST AND GUILLEMOTS JUST ANNOUNCED FOR V!
I bet Kanye is good live if you like that sort of music, and Guillemots have a good live rep too, though I've never heard anything of theirs (that I'm aware of).

It was about £95 when I went about 3 years ago but the amount of bands you see for it is well worth it - if there's a lot on the line up you like of course!
I mainly went to see the Pixies and am gutted I managed to miss BRMC!
I've always been tempted to go to V but never seen a lineup I'd be willing to pay to go and see seeing as I'm not into my music THAT much. But this lot does look damn good. Just a shame about the price :/
I've got such lovely memories of Leeds fest the year before last. Paul sleeping on the grass wearing sunglasses with me on his chest and a huge smile on his face.

Went in '97 and saw the Foos, Beck, Prodigy, Echobelly, others...
Was pretty good but I was feeling old even then (urk) and the only going for one day and walking back to the station in the rain afterwards sucked :(

I have a Reading memory of a mate of mine cuddled up asleep on a frisbee, and I also had a big grin on my face :D
It's the same really, when you think about it.... kinda.
Sarah and I are there, because the foos are headlining. We'll be at Chelmsford
If you read this before 9am, use this link (http://www.seetickets.com/vfoo/vfoo.html) to book pre-sale tickets for V Festival.
I thought of you guys first. :D

Cant get through on site, it keeps saying busy :( Im going to get 2 weekend tickets for Chelmsford if it bloody lets me get them!!
Wish I could afford it but I'd probably lose the same again just by taking the weekend off work :(

I was sure I heard that tickets were sold out already.
Strange, a mile up the road and I've never been. I'm not really keen on live gigs.. paying money to see someone stand there singing on stage.. I find them too borring.
Snow patrol are great for the living room.. not see live.
Hmm... checked the line up again and the only people who I would really want to see is the Killers and Damien Rice like I said... and I have seen the Killers so there's no point me paying over £60 just to see him!
There are some others like saucer face and Basement Jaxx (they ALWAYS play V!) and maybe Mika.. but not that bothered... think I will save the money :)

Aye, I'd still be considering this but for that price, even though I know it's the done thing these days.

The were sold out :( I think I would have liked to see about 90% of the line up, so major bummer for me, but i was a little uncertain about spending 270 on 2 tickets, but then il spend that on a new ipod anyway!
Il enter comps to win tickets lol if not il prob end up at Reading :p

My mate, who booked the tickets, had a mate with a Virgin contract. Put his mobile number into the site and that was that, we booked Tuesday night (4 tickets, 2 couples). Sorry you missed out Holly :(
There are still Staffordshire tickets available though if you fancy the treck :p
My sister got 2 so she's well happy!

Hi, is there any tickeys left fro Chelmsford ?
I thought you lot lived up North, but from what Daz said, it sounded a bit like he had a ticket for Chelmsford!
We were at Hyde Park, yeah. Shame that.
Tysonator, there aren't any Saturday day tickets or weekend tickets with camping left. In fact, I'm pretty sure the lot's sold out. :(

Who is going to the Chelmsford V weekend ?
My lovely sister has given me a ticket for the sunday in Weston Park. Girlie weekend here I come! This is going to be such a laugh!
Semi related, just been walking a friend's dog down at hylands and playing guess where they put the stage. The main stage was easy enough, but bugger knows where the second one is normally!
Quite strange sitting under the tree that normally when we're there it's with 50,000 other people...
Just bought some lovely green wellies for this weekend. They go so well with my sparkly silver cowboy hat.

Did you guys like the festival ! ?
Wet and fantastic.
Juliette and the Licks were amazing as expected. Have wanted to see them for ages. The Coral were great and miserable looking! The Editors were great. My sister went mad for The Proclaimers. Kanyé West was very good but Dizzee Rascal was far better. The Happy Mondays were fantastic and Bez is my hero.
Dave Grohl brought his mum on stage and everyone chanted 'Dave Grohl's mum! Dave Grohl's mum!' It was awesome. The Foo Fighters rocked hard.
;D at Dave Grohl's Mum.
Thank you very much to Karl for bringing a little piece of V and the Foos to me via my phone :D
My sister nearly vaulted the stage to get to Dave.
You should have let her :D

Has any got Juliette and the Licks music on CD or Mp3 at !
I only managed to hear part of their set at V ?
From what I hear she rocks !
I did have stuff on my last hard drive but it died so am having to replace. I'll be getting all their stuff again soon if you can wait?
Hang about, made a copy of Sticky Honey and Hot kiss on a disc. Am just popping out to the car to get it and see if I can send it.
Juliette and the Licks were really good live - they supported the Foo's at Hyde Park when we went to see them last summer. Didn't realise they were playing :)
Have loved their stuff for years but never managed to make any of their gigs so was over the moon when I heard they were playing!
Sounds like it was great, my brother went too.
Tomorrow I'm off to Leeds fest! Anyone else going (or to Reading)?
