View Full Version : Cleaning a TFT and keeping it clean in the first place?
I never touch screens so they don't get fingerprints but my oldest TFT could use a good clean and I don't want my new one to get into that state.
What's good to clean a dirty TFT and what's a good way to maintain the nice clean-ness of my new one?
That's spooky. I've been meaning to create this thread for days :D

Anyone tried these (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/COMPUTER-SCREEN-WIPES-TUB-OF-100-FAST-DELIVERY_W0QQitemZ270000636120QQihZ017QQcategoryZ4 0001QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem)?

I just use a damp cloth and dry it straight away with a lint free cloth to avoid streaks.

Right brand, wrong product, they're pants unfortunately. We got them sent by mistake, decided to give them a go... regretted it.
At work, we keep a stash of these (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SCREEN-CLENE-Perfect-for-TV-Plasmas-PCs-And-More_W0QQitemZ250091580938QQihZ015QQcategoryZ162QQ ssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem). I have them at home too :)
I might have some of those at work, I'll try them. My problem is more dust than dirt.

I use a bottle of squirty stuff I got from PC world, and a sock. If there's smudges I buff 'em out with an old glasses cloth.
Looks ideal for me :D So purchased. My Widescreen TFT got a bit smeared thanks to an erm 'incident' with some milk from a bowl of cereal. *looks innocent*
We use "dynolube" (ooer) anti static foam cleaner at work. It's ok, but you have to be careful else it leaves smears. At home I have a screen shammy [sic] that I bought in the states. Seems to work ok:

Even though I said I'd grab some of those wipes from work, I tried the slightly damp lint-free cloth on my oldest and dustiest/smearyest screen and it did a very good job.
Aye, like Daz said, avoid the tubs. They dry out before you've got anywhere near using them all. Slightly damp cloth does work well though.

Cheap but effective - gets my vote every time.
