I've been debating about setting up dual monitors for a bit now as it'd be handy with some of my work to have two desktops, and it seems a waste of the widescreen TFT not being used when I'm not playing the 360.
At the moment I've got a 6800le but it's only got 1 VGA port.
I also have a 9800pro (as bought off MB :)) in my other PC in Swansea which has 1 VGA port and 1 DVI port.

Both monitors only have VGA sockets, is it possible to get a convertor? A cheap convertor at that otherwise I'll have to put it off until the summer.

Any other cheap workarounds are welcome :) I'm not too bothered about gaming performance right now because they'd only ever be used for work related stuff as I hardly game on the PC anymore.

i think you can get a converter to convert a dvi port into a vga one :D

infact I think if the video card has a dvi port it should have come with one.

You normally get dvi to vga converters free with the gfx cards. I may have one kicking around here you can have, let me check.

You usually get one with gfx cards with DVI outputs as standard. If you're not in a hurry, I have several at home I never use. If you need it sooner, I'm sure someone else will have one lying around.

Dual monitors rock. I couldn't live without 2 - actually I'm down to 1 at the moment as one died, my next purchase will be 2x19" TFTs (not widescreen) as that suits my needs perfectly. I have 2DVI ports on my card, but I have a DVI->VGA adaptor that came with the card - they're only a few quid otherwise. However my next monitors will be DVI driven. :)

The 9800pro didn't come boxed (it was dirt cheap though so I didn't mind :D), and the 6800le only has a vga port although if I can find the box at home I can check.

If you can find a spare one Zirax or anyone that'd be great :) Let me know what you want for it.

Edit: Bloody hell you all replied fast ;D

If not, I'm sure there's one here. Me with my one monitor setup and all.

I'm sure I've got a spare one as well Jen, if the others can't provide one I may be able to :)

Excellent :D
Going to make things like this site I'm designing a lot easier having extra desktop space.

Oh yeah, having dual monitors is great for stuff like web design :)

It's good to spread out :D
And with essays, I can stick the journals in one window and the essay in the other so it makes it easier for quotations.

Gaming on one screen in a window and web browser on the second full screen.

Life is good with dual monitors.

I used to play Football Manager on one screen and have a film running on the other, was great for those moments in Footy Manager when it crunches data and you have nothing to do :D

Noooooooo don't say those words!
I've been clean of that game for about 3 months now and I'm quite proud of it :p

I've got 2 at work and 2 at home now. It was invaluable at home, and now it's the same at work because I've got several remote-controlled servers to maintain.

Exactly :) Handy if you have to maintain code of any sort too (not just web), as you can have the source on one side, and the compiled program/running web page/script execution on the other. Or Google so you can search for everything you dont know how to do :D

Damn you, I want my two monitors working now :(
It's a pain alt tabbing all the time with this lovely tft sitting next to me doing nothing.

I've had Dual monitor now for a few years, I can use a PC without it but its much easier with it, especially when doing work.

Yay dual monitors ftw :D
Ty Daz for the adaptor :)

Now to get used to it as right now it feels a bit like information overload ;D

:) Dual monitors is good, I found it useful like you said earlier for doing my dissertation being able to have the journals on one screen and the dissertation on the other. Might want to grab an app called Ultramon which is quite handy I found :)

Got that installed :D Definitely a handy little app.
And currently got a presentation I'm preparing in one monitor and the notes for it in the other which is ideal. :D

Any suggestions for good places for widescreen wallpapers? Got a subaru impreza that's a bit stretched at the moment on the widescreen one.
