View Full Version : one of 4 100" plasma tvs in Europe...
Look at this beast!

Haven't had a chance to look at it yet, bu t it's not yet available to anyone, as I said, this is 1 of 4 in the whole of Europe! Some people just have far too much money to spend... It's a good nice 5 figure sum... By all accounts it's supposed to be typical Panasonic Plasma quality i.e. pretty much the best you can get. Can't wait to see it in action! :D
Imaging for all you console dudes, how awesome it would be to play a console on that! :D:D
BTW: the guy on the left is about 6'4" for scale...
Very nice :D
Can you borrow it for me so I can play the 360 on it please? :D

Mahahahahahahha!
Guess what?
I don't have to pretend ;)
OK the contrast ratio isn't as good and you need a dark room but a £700 projector is just as good IMHO :p
MB
Oh I'd definitely rather pay 700 quid for your projector than the horrendous price tag this thing has... but still, how awesome??! :D

Damn that must be a hell of a sight to behold! I can imagine it being fragile though...
Bet he has to buy extra small pants ;)
How many people did it take to carry it? I know how heavy my 43in plasma is.
I'd end up trying to run into it, joypad toted like a machine gun. :D

LOL! I can imagine you doing that! :D
Mark it took 6 people as a) it's heavy (~1.5cm thick glass at the front) b) had to be careful to mount it on the brackets sensibly c) we all wanted to touch it! LOL ;D
Aye, that's about what I thought. I'm not looking forward to ever needing to move mine.
And yes, I'd be the sort of person to walk into it too. ;D

So true ;D
seen one of these , massively impressive ( 103 inch I thought ) , last I heard they were special order at £50k each
They are indeed 103 - I just said 100 for effect. :p
They are not available to public for at least another month or so - as you say on special order - only 4 in Europe which is amazing really!
Done a bit of research. This is the one I found on Panasonic UK:
http://www.panasonic.co.uk/plasma-displays/th-103pf9ek/index.htm
220kg . 20 pixels/inch. :)
Also checked the Japanese website (battling through undisplayable japanese characters, and using guesswork and pictures instead) and found a different model number, but it looks the same.
Wouldn't want to pay the leccy bills though. Although, having said, that, it consumes about the same as my PC farm, so I already do pay the leccy bill. :(
If you can afford one of those, odds are the electricity bill isn't really a problem ;)
Certainly a valid point. :)
I guess I'd not say no if offered, but I'd have to have the new house to put it in as well. ;D

That resolution seems small for a display of that magnitude? Unfortunately I don't know much about digital projection of images so my assumption that it would look blurry/pixelated is probably totally unfounded...
I had the presumption that each pixel would be the size of a postage stamp - however it's really rather good, even from less than 2m it's surprisingly crisp, actually amazingly so. It has the same pitch (I believe) as the the 42" Panasonic of the same series - Certainly from about 4m away (the minimum (IMO) viewing distance) it does look shard as a mofo - added to that a blue ray player, it's pretty astounding. The AV equipment in that room alone is nigh on 70k!!!
The electrcity is supplied by generators - so it's big diesel bills really, of course at the moment they are on shore power and the yard is doing all that ;)
I REALLY want one.
