Hi people,
I have purchased the above camara at xmas and love it :)
The only problem is the price of accessories :'(
I would like to get a spare battery or a battery grip power pack that bolts onto the camara body. Which can have either 2 of the normal batteries or 4 AA rechargeable batteries.
Plus the usual extra len's which are a fortune ! :'(

Does any know off any out lets or web sites that I can browse.

Many thanks

7Dayshop (http://www.7dayshop.com) have batteries 2 for £10. Well worth it. The grip is around £150 from a UK store or £100 from Hong Kong. Lenses are expensive but well worth investing it. Its part of the package with a DSLR.

If Tysonator isn't interested, Tell me more :)

I'm toying with the 400d and nikon d80 (formerly d50) at the moment. I will have a try of both but if the lenses are the right price then I could be tempted one way.

Well I have decided to sell everything bar the body, kit lens and 50mm...

Which means I have the following for sale:

Canon 70-200 F/4 L (Immaculate)
Sigma 105mm Macro (slight wear due to the design of the finish)
Canon 430EX Flash
Canon 35-105mm USM (old style USM)

Well Jessops want £500 for one new and importing one from HK would set you back around £360-400 with the possibility of tax on top.

I would be looking for about £300 really, delivered :)

Anything by Canon, Nikon, Fuji is good. The problem with a DSLR is that you need to buy different lenses for different uses. A good set would be a 10-20mm lens (£300), a 24-70 lens (£300-£800), a 70-200 (£450-£1500). It'll give you fantastic results but at a hefty price. If you want a nice camera that'll satisfy your immediate needs, get a Canon S3, Canon G7, or a Panasonic Lumix something.

What about the flash £'s ?

The best thing about DSLR is can take a pic at a setting and instanly see the results. With a normal SLR you had to wait till you got the film back from Jessop's or Boot or Snappy sanps etc. Then you might have wished you had taken the pic at some different setting !
It is always the way.
I have recently taken mind to Granada in Spain. Where I used inside a cathedral, on a Ski slop, in Granada's Alhambra Place, the old Arab quater of the town.
There were bright days, over cast days and very sunny days.
Once I was brave enough to turn off the Program setting and explore the creative side of the EOS400, the quality of the pic's was amazing.
Plus I can print only those Pic's I actually want, and thats after ( if you wanted to ) played around with them in some Photo suit software.

You'll get the image preview on a normal digital compact too, not just a DSLR :) As for flashguns, the Canon 430ex is quite nice and around £160ish. You'll need some form of diffuser too. Just to make the light nicer.

Well it was not a proper complete testing as the show is only 45mins. The Nikon was 1st, though only slightly ahead. As I think it is the better camara. However it is alot more money, and I think the extra money does warrant the slight extra quality of the Nikon.

I would still go for the Canon with Suzy Perry !;D
I own a Minolta X700 Manual 35mm SLR & Canon EOS50 35mm SLR
The X700 I have had lots of fun with as everything is manual, so very creative. The EOC 50 was my introduction to the world automatic focusing.

However the EOS 400 I have lots & lots of fun with as I can see the result instantly. I do not have to be waiting 2-3 days to get the film developed from Jessops to fine out if the pic's I took were any good.

Digital SLR's are the best.
