I want to place a portable TFT in our bedroom only since I had the room fitted I've lost the external ariel jack..
Is there anyway of receiving a digital signal without an external ariel? I was wondering if there is a device that can broadcast digital TV around the house without the cables.
Are you looking to re-transmit the full RF signal for decoding by another freeview box in the bedroom or do you just want to send the output from your existing freeview box upstairs? I know the latter is doable but i'm not sure that the former can be done wirelessly.
Google 'AV Sender'
Your mileage will vary though. They tend to be a bit picky about where you install them, and picture quality might not be as good as you'd expect.
The other option is a PC and wi-fi, but I wouldn't rate that as particularly practical for a bedroom (yes, I know some people can sleep with a fleet of PCs humming away six inches from their head. ;D)

haha
I don't have freeview but I have Virgin Cable downstairs.. I just want to broadcast the signal upstairs.
Do freeview boxes (or those that have it built in) need an external ariel?
Yup, freeview needs an aerial which is why I assumed you meant freeview when you mentioned the aerial jack.
So you have cable downstairs. Nothing upstairs and want to watch TV in the bedroom. First of all, Are you looking to send the signal wirelessly or are you happy to run a coax cable up to the TV in the bedroom? Secondly do you just want to watch whatever the cable box downstairs is showing or do you want to be able to watch a different channel upstairs?

This is correct.

I would prefer a wirless connection rather than having to feed a coax cable through as it's some way to go. I could, however drop a coax cable from the atic.. Would this help?
Secondly do you just want to watch whatever the cable box downstairs is showing or do you want to be able to watch a different channel upstairs?
I'm not fussed.. However, the kids might want to watch their own channels.. I suppose they could have their own free view boxes if i drop a cable down from the atic as I said before.. What would I need in the atic?
I'd say your easiest DIY option is to put an aerial in the loft (if you've not already got one) and drop a coax into the bedroom with a freeview box. The alternative is to see what virgin can offer with regards to a second cable box. We're not in a cabled area so I'm not familiar with whats available however i'd have thought they'd be able to install a box upstairs and do all the necessary cabling just not sure what it would cost.

Would i need some sort of splitter in the atic and/or a booster?
Yes, you can have a 2nd box no problem - I've heard of people with three.
Might have to pay for it though, and I don't know what the cost is.
As for the freeview option, depends how many boxes you want to 'hang' off that aerial.
