View Full Version : Which game do I buy?

Well not exactly buy, it's cheaper than that :D
Just got £20 of Argos vouchers from a work incentive scheme thing so just been looking online to see what games are available at my local branch. Don't really want anything else from Argos so might as well.

Options are:

GTA San Andreas (ps2 or xbox) - free - Is there any difference between the two versions?
Animal Crossing DS - £10 - I keep hearing good things about this on the other forum but i played it on the gamecube for a while and it was good but i got bored in the end :s
New Super Mario for DS - £7 - Yeah i know it's got loads of rave reviews but generally with platformers I get stuck then end up never actually completing it, oops. Then again it does seem extremely popular so maybe I could sell it easier if I got bored.
Brain training for DS - free - This looks quite fun but I don't know a huge deal about it.

Good choices,

from agros though you could try this (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5678963/Trail/C%24cip%3D36831.Video%2Bgames%3EC%24cip%3D36832.Pl aystation%2B2%3EC%24cip%3D36834.PS2%2Bgames.htm) crack cocaine game ;)

Though you do have a good selection there

I never really liked it on the gamecube :/ I bet it makes a great multiplayer game but no one I know round here plays games :(

BTW to make my decision slightly easier I'll probably be able to get two, one in a few weeks or maybe even now. Got £20 of HMV vouchers to come from work too, but I have to pick them up from the branch which may be later in the week.

It is pretty boring single player it comes into it's own in multiplayer used to play loads in uni with my flatmates.

What games you like Haly? Could try and help you better then?

RPGs I love nearly obsessively :embarassed: They're one of the few genres I'll play to completion 9 times out of 10.
Quite like platformers, i.e. Mario, Sonic, could you count Tomb Raider because it is in a way?, but I do find if I get stuck, it ends up getting cast aside for a while.
Not hugely keen on FPSes on consoles, besides Halo and Timesplitters, just prefer them on PC.
Almost always single player games as right now the only person nearby that plays games is my Mum but she can't play anything very fast due to a neck injury. I've got a feeling she might like Brain Training too (she's got her own DS).
Quite like arcade racers, things like Burnout and NFSU. Annoyingly Argos have Burnout Revenge in their sale but nowhere local has got it :(
Sports games I'm quite happy to just have one football game every few years (Got Pro Evo 4 at the moment).
Did like GTA San Andreas and played it for a while on the PC when I borrowed it off someone but again it fell foul of me getting bored when I got stuck :embarassed:

I've got a bloody low attention span :(

Right now I'm mainly playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advance as it's drawn me in and I can play it somewhere cooler than the main room for consoles.

So ideally you'd want an RPG on either the XBOX or PS2?

Haly
19-07-2006, 10:59
Ideally yup, but not sure if I can find one from argos :(
I've already got FFX, Xenosagas 2, had Dragon Quest 8, Fable, Jade Empire and both Knights of the Old Republic games.

Ok my initial suggestion was going to be KOTR but as you've got them I'm a little stuffed :(

Oh do you have Wind Waker?

Haly
19-07-2006, 16:22
Used to have it, didn't really like it and don't own a gamecube anymore :)

leowyatt
19-07-2006, 16:24
k :) I'll do some digging for PS2/Xbox RPG games

Haly

I'll be impressed if you can find one I haven't played :p
Reckon i'll just walk into Argos probably tomorrow and choose at the time.

Haly

I can cross Brain Training off my list then, my Mum just bought it off ebay for herself :D
Doesn't look like I'll get a chance to go to Argos till next week anyway though as I've just been told I'm going to a different branch of work at the weekend :( (work opposite an Argos)

leowyatt
20-07-2006, 15:17
Well I'm coming up pretty much blank on the RPG front :(

Though how about Dark Cloud 2 and Baldur's Gate?

Haly
20-07-2006, 15:53
Played em and sold them on.
I've played too many games :embarassed:
I need a new genre to adore :D

I did used to like a few of them. C&C, Empire Earth, Age of Empires I loved.
Hmm maybe I need to find a new one to have a play around with :D

We peaked at Yuri's Revenge in the C&C series. I mourn Westwood everyday :'(

Hmm I can't decide having read reviews of it :embarassed:

Did just remember I've got a copy of Warcraft 3 somewhere so that may keep me busy :D

Daz
20-07-2006, 16:40
That's a top game. You got Frozen Throne?

Haly
20-07-2006, 16:42
Nope :/ Just standard WC3. Might be quite cheap to pick up Frozen Throne now though.

leowyatt
20-07-2006, 16:44
A vote for WC3 here, great game :)

Seconded.

Played it on the PC for a while but laid it aside to play a few FPSs in an attempt to improve my hand-eye co-ordination (not working too well :embarassed: ).

Oooh Brain Training is addictive. Annoyingly though it won't recognise my voice :(

Oh and I ended up getting WC3 and Frozen Throne off ebay :embarassed: Be a few days though.

Daz

How much?

Haly
21-07-2006, 11:02

£11 for both of them which I thought wasn't bad :D

Haly
21-07-2006, 17:58
There's no save points?? Eeek got to complete it in one go like the old days?
That'll add a bit of challenge to it!

I will most likely get it, either with the argos vouchers or the HMV vouchers :)

Haly
21-07-2006, 21:58
Ahh got you :) Sounds a reasonable system to me.

Haly
25-07-2006, 13:32
I've got into the habit of spending :( Must get out of it.
Just picked up Super Mario Bros as paid for with my Argos vouchers, and then picked up GTA San Andreas for the x-box because a mate in work told me Currys were selling them off for £10 :embarassed:

If anyone wants a new copy of Prey for the PC let me know - for some reason I've got 2...
