today I took and passed my bike Theory Test (31/35 and 65/75), which is nice, because it would have been a reet squeeze to fit another one in in time for my test.
I've got my CBT tomorrow, and I bought all my kit today :D jacket, lid, gloves and booties, £329. He didn't charge me for the gloves.
It's all quite decent kit - budgetish, but not cheap crap. My family tend to trust the dude that runs the closest bike shop to us, he's been selling stuff to us for a long time and he's a good fella, he gave me a lot of advice and so on and was very honest about some of the stuff he stocked being total pish budget crap, so I think I did ok.
The rest of my training and my test is next weeked, the sunday monday and test on tuesday. I'm all excited! Nervous though.
I WANT TO RIDE MY BIKE!

That's that all out of the way, it was a cool day and everything went ok. There's some stuff I have to brush up on but her reckons I'll be fine for my DAS next week :)
Looks like good kit - but I have to say I'd still get some leathers, or leather based clothing - even though textile stuff is pretty much as good now.
What sort of trousers you getting? Bear in mind your legs are usually the things that get trapped under a bike at times.
Congrats on the theory, and how did you do on the CBT? I'm sure you passed with flying colours
Great news Rob :D
Keep us updated on how everything goes.
Rar! Bagsy pillion bagsy pillion!

I only have jeans right now but by the time I take my test I will probably have some good textile trousers. I'm planning on getting leathers at some point. Also I want to try on some Draggin' Jeans to see if they're any good - they seem like a really good compromise, especially for around town. I'll be riding almost exclusively in town anyway.
The CBT went fine, I got picked up a couple of times on the ride out for road positioning (taking left turns from pretty much the centre of my lane, oops) and a couple of times I stuffed up my gear choice, but nothing major.
I didn't stall it or bin it all day, thankfully :D
I popped into a bike shop on the way home for a gander and a new contender has appeared on my list of bikes to think about getting...

umnyumnyumnyum!
Is that the Kwak Z750? If so lush bike!
When Burble and I sort our bike situation out we'll DEFINITELY have to do a proper bikers meet

It is indeed. I'll have to do a lot of saving if I decide to get one though, £3.5k for one of them really. I think I want one though :D
I can ride dad's TDM for a good six months or so if I choose to, so there's no real hurry other than the fact I want my own bike.
The others on the list are:
Bandit 600/650 - doubtful though, they just don't appeal to me a huge amount.
Hornet 600 - nyum nyum.
Husqvarna 610 supermoto - eee! I want one! BUT reasonably expensive and fairly useless practicality wise, plus the plod love to pull motards over.
BMW 650GS - I'd love one, but probably too tall a seat for me while I'm a new rider. Tippy toes job almost.
Fazer 600 - I like these, definitely high up the list.
When Burble and I sort our bike situation out we'll DEFINITELY have to do a proper bikers meet
:'(
:p
Okay okay okay... when everyone on the forum interested in bikes sort out their bike situation.... ;)
I do love you Jaimie! :lubu:

So THAT is what the noise was overnight at the NYE party...
Nice one Rob. My first lid was a Lazer. Mine was a bit of a budget hat in hindsight but saying that it did last me 3 years, it was comfy 'til the end and withstood a right proper beating :D

All lids are safe enough, and brand and stickers doesn't matter anywhere near as much as fit. Doesn't matter how much it cost, if it don't fit your head it won't work :D
I'm much rather have this £120 lid and know I can afford to buy another if I have to, than spend £300 on an Arai or Shoei and not be able to afford to replace it. They're all safe enough, and anything over £100 that fits my noggin is good enough for me.
I don't think I've got an Arai shaped head anyway :D

It's pretty much down to two contenders now..
Z750
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b78/mohinder1/z750.jpg
and an FZ6
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b78/mohinder1/fz6.jpg
The Z is edging it for looks and riding position, as well as that apparently it's much torquier... I don't want to have to rev the tits off my road bike, I get enough of that on the MX track!
BUT the FZ6 is much more sindy friendly when/if it comes to her riding pillion.
I'm buying it for me though not for her, and my dad had a perch on the pillion of the Z and said it would be fine for around town.
I won't be taking her anywhere on it for at least six months anyway I should imagine.

One of the guys who works at the Data Centre has a Triumph Daytona 675 http://www.paulgraydon.co.uk/images/Daytona675.jpg
Its an absolute beauty of a beast.
It is nice definitely agree with you, but Rob's after more of a street bike rather than a sports bike I think.

Yeah, daytonas are lovely but I"m after a street bike right now. I'll have a sportsbike one day, but I'm not feeling it yet. I love street bikes :D
Had a full day's riding on the 125s today, and a little go around the pad on the 500s. It was good, but looking forward to tomorrow much more - the 125s are painfully slow. ****ing awful things.
Should be ok for my test I reckon, and so does my instructor, so here's hoping Tuesday goes ok. If I fail, I fail, and I'll take it again, but I"ve got a fair crack at the first time :)

My brother in law is picking it up for me tomorrow :D
I'm not going to be out of work til gone nine though, so I will only be going for a bit of a plod round the block. Never ridden in the dark before so I won't go far, probably best to ride it during the day for a couple of hours first. I will go for a small poodle round the 'hood though :D
Dammit I want my bike back :(
*mum*
Be careful pleasepleaseplease! If you have to be scraped off the tarmac and put in a jar I will be very very cross!

wuahaha :D
It's awesome, I'm in love. Only been for a couple of quick rides tonight, but I've definitely made a good choice here. It's like a spaceship compared to the 40,000 miler ER-5 I learnt on
Of course I'll be careful! I'm a cautious sort anyway, me.
Now go forth and scare the **** out of yourself! It's the only way to feel alive  I miss doing dangerous things - I think I need a new hobby....

Nicely done Rob. Have fun on your new death trap (can you tell I'm not keen on motrbikes?).

Have you hit any moving objects yet?
I smacked wing mirrors with a car coming towards me around a corner once. There was glass and plastic everywhere ;D

And every other one - including MTBs
Some silly bint in a 4x4 pulled straight out in front of me t'other week - which, sad to say, I was expecting. I stopped with the back wheel in the air about 6" from her front wing. The look of total shock on her face was priceless!
