Well just tired to get on www.boat-drinks.co.uk and am greated by this

http://www.badasszebedee.com/images/bd.jpg

So have logged into our sonicwall software and checked the rating and apparently we are:

The URL
www.boat-drinks.co.uk
is currently rated as:

Category 9: Criminal Skills/Illegal Skills

So I'm currently accessing it via the ip :) not sure what happens when that gets blocked. I don't think there is anything I can actually do about the rating :(

You can view the rating here (http://cfssupport.sonicwall.com/Support/web/eng/newui/viewRating.jsp) yourself so if one of the mods could send a request asking for the rating to change that could work :D

I wonder if its rated that way because its a closed community.

You can always use a VPN or some sort of VNC connection to home no?

Wierd, illegal skills/questionable skills - what an odd rating!

Search for online web proxies - there are a lot of anonymous online web browsing services available. I don't know which ones are good - but I have heard a lot of them work really well.

I've emailed them asking for it to be changed

What category did you ask for Matt?

Not sure if they'll re-categorise it without having more access to the site. A lot of services like that tend to put sites like this into a 'better safe than sorry' group, though I've never seen it put so bluntly before. Maybe we should make the most of it and talk about building bombs or something :D

Does it categorise it owing to what header information/metatags are listed on the site?

It could be one of two things

a) The subtitle of the site is 'where gangsters rest in peace' which ties in with the illegal activity thing, although you'd need to be pretty dumb to take that literally

b) Or some berk who we wouldn't let in thought it would be funny to get us flagged as a naughty site.

I basically told them the score but I don't know if it will make any difference what so ever

No idea what Sonicwall's specific criteria is, but you would think so.

well for the time being. I'll try it again after 2pm and see what is going on as I think Andy is messing around with it.

Be careful of using "free" web based proxies from work, a fair number of them are vehicles for exploits, malware and viruses. Depending on the terms of use where you work, the use of them could be grounds for gross misconduct.

Ah yes, the small print... I always forget that :embarassed:

Obviously I meant sensible non malware, exploitative ones ;) Obviously if IT catch you they may well throw the book at you anyway :p
