Feel like a burger today and the only place in town is either the kebab shop or McD's. So decided to make my own.

You'll need

500g mince beef (organic preferable) - enough to make 4 thick burgers
4 rolls
Some Salad
Dried herbs
Grounded peppers and Salt
1 egg
1 Finely chopped onion
Some Flour or Breadcrumbs
Cheese Optional
Olive Oil

Put the chopped onions, a few pinch of herbs, 1 egg into a large bowl mixed well and add the mince beef then some grounded pepper and salt and use your hands to mix them together. Add some flour or breadcrumbs to blend it together.

Put them into burger shape, sprinkle a plate with some flour and put the burgers on it ready to be grilled. Drizzle some olive oil onto the burger and straight onto a already heated hot BBQ, frying pan or a Cast Iron Grill (what I used instead.)

Using low heat to grill the burgers, while it is grilling toast the rolls under the grill lightly, put on some salad. Flip the burger when you see the side of the beef is cooked half way.

Finally, flip again add cheese and soon as its melted, serve onto the bun.

Viola !

p.s. I messed layer on one of the bun hence the salad ended up at the top and cheese at the bottom.:embarassed:

A couple of things which you might want consider experimenting with are including Tomato Sauce or Horseradish both of them add a very piquant flavour :)

There is some tomatoes sauce on both (think you can just see it), but I forgot to mention that :)

My recipe (enough for 2 burgers):

1/2lb (none of your continental weights in my kitchen :p ) Steak mince (good stuff - not cheap sh*te).
1/2 small onion finely chopped.
1 sachet bouquet garni.
1 teaspoon chopped garlic.
1 teaspoon chopped chilli.
4 slices plastic cheese.
2 buns.

Bung everything in a bowl (rip open the bouquet garni first and just add the contents), get your hands in among it and give it a damn good mix and follow Mr Lin's directions for cooking.

Don't bother with the salad. Bung them in the buns with the cheese and eat.

Stan :)

Look lovely Raymond. Just wondering what a viola has to do with burgers though ;D ;)

I mix the mince with finely chopped onion, mixed herbs and a smidgeon of mustard. I don't even like mustard, but it enhances the taste :)

English mustard should be added to absolutely every meat based concoction. And white sauce. And cheese sauce. I know the fnar potential is incredible but Im serious! :D

I think you'll find it's called grass and should only be eaten by cattle before they're minced up to make burgers :D

Stan :)

This is the last time I'm going to say this, if you want a good burger, you need only one ingredient: BEEF!!! Ya freaks!

Mel

ummm.. and BUNS!!!

Darrin

Darrin's method of cooking burgers :

1 pound ground angus beef.
1 tsp ground black pepper.
1 tsp salt.
1/2 can Budweiser.
1 tsp onion powder.
2 eggs.
1 oversize bun.
Enough process cheese for two slices per burger.

Light BBQ with mesquite and oak twigs for smoke. Combine first 6 ingredients. Flatten beef out to about 1/2 inch thick and about 6 inches in diameter. Ensure BBQ is hot enough to attract every heat-seeking weapon in the world simultaneously. Slap beef patties on grill. When juices coming out the top turn brown, flip the burgers, place two slices of cheese on each
patty. When cheese starts to bubble, scrape patties off grill and place on bun bottom. Spread condiments to flavour (ketchup, mustard and mayo for me) and proceed to get messy.

Even though I don't drink, these are best served with a chilled beer (or three). Preferably the beer's in a thick glass that's been in the freezer for a few days.

One near me used to do the Big Bubba Bad Boy Breakfast Bap which was everything shoved into about a foot of bagette.

We got the Waistline Stretcher at Dizzy's Diner which is two 12oz burgers in one bun with bacon, chilli etc, fries and coleslaw. Le Will that's right by me and that's a challenge. Fancy dinner tonight?

Then there was Milner's Diner, a 50's american diner that used to do the Milner Burger which was burgers, bacon, eggs, round sausage, onion rings, pork, chicken and whatever else they could jam in served up on a plate with a 12" spike down the middle so it stood upright. They are long gone unfortunately :(

I couldn't be bothered to do an easter themed smut thread in the end (well I didn't have the props needed for a contribution piccy)
Not sure when the next of my "themed" smut threads will be - need some confidence and some inspiration before it'll happen.

I'm sure you could start a "generic" one, but I think themed ones work better ;) ;)
