My 1990 Silverado truck is fully operational now. My son wouldn't let me have the laptop long enough to get a couple sound clips of the open exhaust, but later today I'm planning on getting some of it as it is now.
Even with the exhaust fully hooked up it STILL sounds mean!! And boy, does that thing GO!! Took it out on the road and hammered it. It's not quite drag car impressive, but for a big ass heavy 4X4 truck it sure is!!
Certainly is amazing what 45 cubic inches and a properly working fuel injection system will do to improve your acceleration!! I thought the old '81 truck you've all seen the infamous picture of could get up and go. This one leaves it literally in the dust!!
Now to run a few tanks of good petrol through it and start the mileage calculations. Hopefully I'll be getting somewhere around 15-18mpg out of it.
Once I get it running perfectly I'm going to look into putting a hydrogen injection system in to improve the mileage even further. I know this thing won't run completely on hydrogen. It needs some dyno juice to keep things from rusting inside the engine, but I figure if I run a 50/50 mix of air and hydrogen coming in the intake it should kick the mileage up to about 20-25. That's the plan, anyways. I'm going to give it a shot and try it. Couldn't do it on the old one as it was a carby, hence no way for it to moderate the fuel mixture like the FI can on this one.
Anyways, tomorrow I call the insurance company and have them take the old truck off and put this one on. \o/
