Not something I do often ( normally get others to do it ) but gave it a good clean yesterday, was particularly impressed with the results on the wheels, they look like new ;)

Looks good, what products did you use? Did you use a polish/ sealent afterwards?

nah , just a bucket and a sponge ;D have some autoglym polish / sealant that I intent to ue at some point but this took half a day ( not helped by my neighbour popping across woth a box of Magner's as I was doing it ;) )

The wheels look amazing though I think the method I used could prove costly if I did it every time but they do look like brand new now

I do use Polish on it some times but I also find that the Kosovans and Albanians do a decent job too ;D

Yeah it takes me upwards of 5 hours to wash, dry, polish and seal the MINI and that uses a paint very similar to the BMW paint. If you do decide to do the polish sealent thing then I strongly recommend Jeffs Werkstatt Prime followed by Trigger which gives an amazing finish which lasts for weeks :)

I should go get a picture of my Silverado truck right now. I haven't done a thing to it since I finished putting the engine in. This also includes all the foot prints where I had to climb in with the engine to do work on it.

It's a hideous mess that I don't think is going to be helped with any amount of washing....

You would all be very impressed with how your cars look if I did!! :D

Bah I thought there'd be something nice to look at... ;) :p

Joking aside I do like those M3s - though they're everywhere :( It's a shame as they are great cars usually driven by dicks though. Like the numberplate - didn't realise your middle initial was X - sounds very mysterious ;)

I did polish/t-cut/wax/toothbrush my car recently, but I never bothered to take pics, you'll have to take my word for it that it looked beautiful :D

Good job I've learnt how to use the gearbox since then or I would have needed to employ you full time :p

I cleaned Tochi today. Just jetwashed though as the weather is too changeable. Products being used on the next clean are:

Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo and Conditioner
Luxurious Lambs Wool Wash Mitt
Water Magnet Drying Towel
Foam Applicator Pad (twin pack) x 2
4 x Microfibre Cloth
Quik Clay Detailing System
STEP 1 - Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner
STEP 2 – Deep Crystal Polish
STEP 3 - Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax

Today though I did polish my exhaust and it's so shiny and sparkly yay! Mind you I did get carried away and it started on the tip and ended up doing the whole back box :embarassed: I also did my alloys, the only problem is now the difference between the corroded bits and the shiny bits is horrifically obvious :undecided: So this year I think it's going to have to be a set of silver 16" Rota Circuit 10s *save save save*!! ;D

I applied a similar technique to Rotty to get my exhaust nice and shiny and looking like new this weekend. I'm also considering trying his technique for wheel cleaning. Looking at Bronze Rota Grids myself (Was after gunmetal/chrome Slipstreams for a while but they're getting a bit too common now :p)

I'm even getting tempted to splash the cash and send it away for some minor restoration and a full respray before the work of the rust fairies starts to become noticable.

Well I did it today...... Unfortunately, no camera available other than my camera phone which is shockingly low quality. It's come up looking brilliant - the pics really don't do it justice. I'll just have to get Memphis to vouch for how good it looks when he gets to see it. 5 bleedin hours though, still Tochi ain't looking bad for a 12 year old boy:

Good job :) Looks lovely.

I love the body shape of the E46 coupé - M3 is out of my reach though. I've been to look at a couple of 330ci recently, but think i'm actually going to end up with an e39 5 series as they just seem better value at the lower end of the market.

always been the case that the 5 series offers better value 2nd hand than the 3

the diesels fetch too much but a nice 530i or better still a 540i are superb value

Never seem to get any water marks. Didn't do anything special. When washing and rinsing never use a pressure washer - washed with a mit and then rinsed with a gentle stream of water (not a spray). Then dry off any excess with the water magnet towel, works a treat :)

EDIT: The wash mit is excellent by the way, the other side has a mesh on it that will clean off all sorts including tar with just normal car shapmoo and nothing else. No swirls or scratches. The clay bar lifts off all sorts of clag and leaves the paint feeling glass smooth. I also was able to remove a couple of surface scratches easily with the polish.

OK it's not something you are going to (or should do) every other week, but once or twice a year - it's worth the effort.
