Well.. its been nigh on two years now that I've had my Corsa (1st of May would be the two year mark), but the time has come for me to sell her. Living in London she's just an unecessary expense for me. Insurance is due next month, along with an annual service, then tax in July; to have her up here I'd have to change her address with the DVLA and then fork out £10 per month for her to pretty much not do anything except sit on the road and only occasionally go out for trips when heading away from London; maybe a half dozen or so in a year if that; or maybe if I'm heading home. Given most of those journeys can be done by train and actually living in a city with a good public transport system its nigh on impossible to justify the £700+ pa before fuel costs to keep a car runnning!
One of Dads friends expressed an interest in buying her "as is" as his wife has minimal use of her left leg due to hip issues, but has unimpaired use of her right; so an automatic is ideal. I popped home Easter weekend and put the original radio back in her and sorted out my end of the paperwork, and the exchange will be taking place tonight. '94 L Reg Vauxhall Corsa 1.4GLS Automatic, Sold for a lovely £650 (street price according to estimates I got were around £500!), mainly because she's only got about 36k on the clock :) (yes its the first time around on the clock :p), and just two careful owners, myself and my grandad before me.
She's served me well. I'll replace her when next it becomes necessary so probably not for another year or so. If I need a car it only costs about £30 a day to hire one so thats probably the other recourse if I can't get to my destination by train :)
