Just started watching this; Aitch and I just finished BSG series III and need a new series to download. I had my doubts about it originally but it seems really good, not too heavy but not too plot light either and the ends are really good they leave you hanging for the next episode :)
Excellent TV
MB
I've got to episode 18... I'm desperately waiting for 19. I'm HOOOOOKED. That's why I shouldn't watch tv!! :p Well "internet downloads" maybe a better way of phrasing that ;) Still it keeps me entertained when I'm away. :)
I'm hooked as well, desperately awaiting episode 19... Dym has just finished watching the first 18 too :)

It's true, absolutely superb plots, acting, twists, SFX, everything!
The end of the series is due to be shown fairly soon so we should be able to find out what happens :)
Currently working my way through the first series of House MD while I wait. I want to be House, he's a total **** :D

We're just about to start this, well start acquiring it :D
Currently working my way through the first series of House MD while I wait. I want to be House, he's a total **** :D
We're watching Season 3 and yes it's awesome, best medical program on TV. Well greys anatomy works a close second :)
I've been watching the episodes on the Sci-fi channel but last weekend I couldn't be arsed waiting and watched 11-18 in a row! If anyone wants to catch up without waiting for the torrents to download, try www.alluc.org. It links to places where you can just stream them, sometimes in HD.
dailymotion is where I go to watch them :)
Hiro is the most awesome character ever. In the most recent episode they showed over here, I loved the part where he tried to ring Ando in Japan from the diner and his past self picked up the phone, and he hung up saying 'Great Scott!' :D
I think the cheer leader's hot... ok ok she's a bit young but I don't care....
Now, Mr Bennet, good or bad? I'm warming to him... Hmm should we add a spoiler tag Matt?
Clare is hot, but I think I prefer Jessica (not Nikki!).
When the series first started I assumed there would be a group of 'goodies' and a group of 'baddies' and that Mr. Bennett was some sort of leader of the latter group. As it's gone on they've revealed that he's trying to protect his daughter rather than manipulate her, which is what I had assumed was going to happen. I think it's great that they've made the character hard to read and it's testament to the guy's acting ability that he gives a quite ambivolent performance.
Incidentally, when Peter works out what his ability is, he mentions borrowing other people's powers, like the mind-reading, self-healing and being able to bend space and time, but I don't remember him using Hiro's power until he stopped the stun gun on the roof, which was after he worked it out. Does anyone recall where he used it before that?
Edit: Oh, and yes we might need a spoiler title! 'Spoilers up to episode 18' or something.
I thought he had used Sylar's telekenetic power to stop the stun darts?
Yeah Jessica is fiiiine - though I reckon Nikki might be more fun ;)
Peter and Sylar are going to duel I reckon... they're polar opposites but identical at the same time... I can't wait to see what happens, Sylar was just about to crave his skull open wasn't he.... arrrghhh I need to see the next episode!!
When is it due to be aired?
I thought he had used Sylar's telekenetic power to stop the stun darts?
Possibly - I thought time had slowed down initially though, before they dropped out of the air. He definitely said he'd used Hiro's powers though - he gave it as an example of other's powers he'd used.
Yeah Jessica is fiiiine - though I reckon Nikki might be more fun ;)
Maybe I got mixed up then, I thought Jessica was the bad one?
arrrghhh I need to see the next episode!!
When is it due to be aired?
Not until this coming Monday or Tuesday I think, but then it should be on every week after that.
I was sure Bennett was going to buy it when Sylar had him. I was gutted about Eden. :(

I've had to zap to the end of my own thread without reading it so as to avoid the spoliers :D

Sowwwy MB.... :embarassed:
Hiro is the most awesome character ever. In the most recent episode they showed over here, I loved the part where he tried to ring Ando in Japan from the diner and his past self picked up the phone, and he hung up saying 'Great Scott!' :D
He is the best by far. His funny face when he "leaps" and he's just so funny. "Ride-o? Beep beep" I think its a great show because its not silly. Given how rubbish Mutant X was I was a bit worried, but the show really does have something about it. It seems so down to earth. Some people want to be super heroes. Some don't. Some want to be villians, some want to get by. I think the next episode is out next week, which is really frustrating.
Hiro is one of the best characters I've ever seen in a program, great fun :)
The guy that plays him is actually American and highly intelligent guy, I keep seeing references to him having an IQ of 180+; and is a geek programmer type too :D
He's in Scrubs too. He plays Franklin and looks rather geeky in it. Not as cool looking as Hiro.
The point when he's in the train is where you hear him speak properly - with his american accent and all, he does look nails there.
I still think that Peter has got the best "gift" - but Hiro is hard to beat for charisma. Nathan Petrelli is a sap IMO.
I like seeing the Haitian speak in his native tongue too ;) A bit of culture... ;)
Man I want a super power :(
One thing that bugs me.. all of the characters were able to identify the Haitian as being Haitian outright. How many even highly cultured western people can you think of are able to pinpoint someones origins that closely? I don't consider myself completely insensitive to cultural traits but I know I probably couldn't say with any confidence that a black guy like him was definitely Haitian or, say, from the Dominican Republic. *shrug*
Exactly what I was wondering.
I found that odd too. He's "mute" as well so you wouldn't have heard him speak. Another glitch is that Peter has all those abilities and yet he gets a scar from something bad according to Hiro. Interesting article on the cheerleader (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/30606). Also, in theory, Hiro could conquer the world. He could jump back in time 2 seconds next to himself. Then they both do it, and so on till he has an army of ninja time travellers. He could also do things ala Bill n Ted. Stuck in a hairy situation where he needs a mars bar to appease a grizzly bear? No problem. Just do it after and put the mars bar next to where he's standing. Although he could just teleporto out to start with but it would be funny.
Hiro has already pointed out that he can't do that otherwise it would cause a rift in the space time continuum.
I suppose. He would be stuck with an army of Hiro's that he'd have to kill off.
Maybe he was introduced to them as the "Haitian" in scenes we never see?
But if Hiro jumped back in time 2 seconds, he would only meet his 2-second-younger counterpart who was about to jump back in time. He would then be left alone. Hiro may exist in our timeline and be able to move around it and manipulate it, but he has his own timeline which is linear and should he cross paths with himself it will be literally a crossroads of events - he can't go back and enlist his past self on an adventure because the past self has to live out the linear events leading to the point where he goes back in time. If you see what I mean.
Yeah.. it's as clear as.. errr mud. :p
Yeah.. it's as clear as.. errr mud. :p
Standard paradox stuff. You can spot the sci-fi geeks that have read a lot :)
The modern film "Lost In Space" with Matt Le Blanc has a classic example of a paradox.
If you've never seen the film, don't waste your time, really its that bad.
If I remember this correctly: In the film one of they suggest the creation of a time hole that will enable someone to go back and stop them from making the ill-fated space jump that gets them lost. The machine that would enable them to do this was created by an older version of one of them that had been stranded on the planet. What they fail to mention is that it would be impossible for this to occur.
If the character had gone back in time and stopped the space jump, he would never have been stranded, and thus would never have made the time machine. Thus his future self wouldn't have jumped back in time which means his future self wouldn't stop the space jump. Which means his future self would exist to make the time machine and jump back and stop the jump... and so on and so on :)
Hiro can't change the past, he can only do what has already been done. We know that at some stage in the future Hiro has to jump back in time and say to Peter Petrelli "save the cheerleader, save the world". We know he has to do it because from our perspective it has already happened.
If Hiro jumps back and tries to recruit himself, that would stop the future self from existing thats trying to do the recruitment. because it impliese changing his present self, changing the future and thus not having that future self to jump back in time to do the recruitment :D
Of course to scramble peoples brains: It may be possible for this to occur... if the future self that is recruiting Hiro is the one recruiting him from the changed future that will occur if Hiro is recruited..
You know what? I think I watch & read too much Sci-Fi if stuff like that doesn't give me a headache any more :)
I studied a lot of this from a theoretical physics point of view, not from a sci fi point of view - my comment was merely a bit of a piss take ;)
Ah but according to the laws of Back to the Future, you could do that. You'd end up in an alternate time line, probably a parallel universe. :D
The thing is parallel universes may well exist, and within them have their own time lines... Causality is necessary in all time lines and dimensions.
I remember Belmit posting that "10 dimensions" explanation which was rather fascinating.
If you start going on to the concept of parallel universes things get more complicated. So far no 'proof' concepts I've seen of the existance of parallel univeses was worth more than the piece of paper it was printed on :)
You could very well argue that every time Hiro jumps back in time, what he effectively does is make another parallel universe exist or jumps into another pre-existing one, a parallel universe in which the timeline is changed by his presense :)
Given their talk of space/time continuum rifts I doubt we're going to see anything about parallelism appearing in Heroes :D
So what do we make of those scars in their necks? Were they genetically modified? OR were they a result of genetic evolution?
There's the scars that look like a small tattoo and the bigger version on Jessica / Nikki which is also on Hiro's sword. The same sword from ancient Japan.
I'd be interested to know if all the main characters have them - it seems to only be those that have been 'captured' by this organisation that have them.
Something else interesting I spotted that maybe everyone else did as well (I can't remember how obvious it was); the combination of symbols on Hiro's sword are the same as the tattoo on Jessica's shoulder (don't recall if Nikki had it as well, but it stands to reason). Not sure where that's going yet...
Edit: Beaten!

Umm.. its from the tool thing they use on people. I thought the techno 'I hack wirelessly' lady made that clear?
I'm curious about the 'f' symbol myself. I could accept it on Nikki and co, but appearing on Hiro's ancient sword? I'm wondering. Maybe Hiro was that old warrior? *shrug*

I'd be interested to know if all the main characters have them - it seems to only be those that have been 'captured' by this organisation that have them.
The scars/tattoos on their shoulders are made by a marking gun which injects a radioactive isotope into their bloodstream so that 'the organisation' can track them. This was explained. How well they can track them hasn't been revealed yet.
Something else interesting I spotted that maybe everyone else did as well (I can't remember how obvious it was); the combination of symbols on Hiro's sword are the same as the tattoo on Jessica's shoulder (don't recall if Nikki had it as well, but it stands to reason). Edit: Beaten!
The symbols on the sword and on Jessica's (not Nikki's) shoulder do mean something, Hiro said what but I forget... It's something to do with providence and destiny though (which is why Jess has them but not Nikki).
Speaking of which, from what has been said then I believe that Jessica (who existed) is the one with powers rather than Nikki (although I think she has her own). Jessica is a pure powerhouse of rage and power (hence the strength and body count) but she died years ago. I think she was Nikki's sister/twin and Nikki's power is being able to recall her sister/twin when needed... Discuss... :p
I'm curious about the 'f' symbol myself. I could accept it on Nikki and co, but appearing on Hiro's ancient sword? I'm wondering. Maybe Hiro was that old warrior? *shrug*
Now there's a paradox. Hiro gets the sword in 2007 left by himself in the past. It appeared in the past because Hiro in 2007 goes back in time and becomes the Samurai then leaves the sword for himself in the future. But where did it come from originally?
I don't recall anyone mentioning a key figure. Mr Linderman. The guy who owned the sword Hiro wanted, collected all the paintings by Mister Eezack, and seems to know everything about everyone.

It could easily have been commissioned by Linderman :)

He's a mutant/evolved human too :) But you have to read the graphic novels to get that. He's got the power to heal himself and other people.
I'm now pondering where Claire really gets her healing abilities from... illicit affair between Linderman and Petrelli's mother? Linderman had a lot of dealings with their father (war buddies) so its possible.
So is there actually a book? Or are you guys researching it and reading every little bit of info on this series? I've watched the series pretty closely and tend to absorb things pretty quick, but I have no idea how you guys know so much about all the most intricate parts of the series! :p

Anyone watched episode 19 yet?
I thought it was awesome.
Got it.. suspect Dym and I will watch it tonight :)
One thing I like about Heroes is that a lot seems to happen every episode that moves the plot on. 24's on it's 6th series now and it hasn't had as much pace, which has been pretty disappointing.
24 is starting to grate on me now, even though I was enthusiastic at the start of the series.
I have 1% of the new Heroes episode! Yes!
Although will just note I'm watching 24 at the same rate as the UK, I can get it on HD so I'd rather wait. Whereas with Heroes I can get a much better picture quicker than the 4:3 SD crap on the sci-fi channel that's 10 or so eps behind.
I think the next 4 episodes (all there is left :() will be great if the latest is anything to go on, seems to have set things up for a good climax.

We finished episode 2 on Sunday :D it certainly is looking good.
If you think it's good already, you're in for a treat. I thought it took a few episodes to pick up, but from about the 3rd episode I was hooked.
Next episode tomorrow morning ;D
We're up to 6 now... Few too many people with powers cropping up for my tastes. The first 2/3 episodes were pegging the story in a 'this could really happen' kinda way, I dont want them to start creating characters with whatever powers they can dream up as an excuse to move the story in a direction they wouldn't be able to explain otherwise.
Kind of what's happening to Lost. The mystery of the island gives them the excuse to add whatever or whoever they like into the mix, which will just be abused to milk and/or ruin the franchise by dragging it out.
It all starts to make a bit more sense in terms of who has powers and who doesn't as time goes on. Even now towards the end of the series we're just starting to find out how some of these people's lives are entwined. In fact it's almost getting incestuous...
Without trying to give too much away, there is almost certainly a finite number of people with powers, and that number starts to drop throughout the series. ;)
Just watched Episode 20..
At the risk of sounding rather like Dym.

How could the Hiro from the future have not known what happened to his past self when they jumped forward 5 years, given they're one and the same people? Unless of course you play with the concept of that being a 'possible' future, rather than a definite one. But then I suppose you could play with the idea that the Hiro who went back in time and told Peter to "Save the Cheerleader, Save The World" wasn't the future-Hiro we just met in ep20...
Spoiler (select with mouse)
Thats the thing. Future Hiro leaps back in time, changes things and that time line wouldn't be accessible from present Hiro's time line. Its basic Back to the Future. Unless that was actually the real future from Hiro's point of view.
I've stopped trying to think about it in the hope that it all comes out in the wash. Awesome episode.
Multiple dimensions hurt my brain, though the theory and the maths aren't THAT tough, it's just the concept that kills me! That was a cracking episode - especially the face off at the end - I was NOT expecting that!!!!

It'll piss Kate off ;D;D;D
I don't think the last episode was that good, but it was decent. Still, looking forward to the next :D
I think it was great in terms of character building. Finally we got a glimpse at what makes Sylar how he is. Being this close to the end of the series I can understand why there was less about the plot. Especially liked the Hiro parts; the bits behind the painting and with the sword were especially tense.

Just watched episode 20. My GOD that was good.
Can someone PM me and let me know this thread is still true to it's title and safe for me to read? :)
it should be to the lastest episode! I want to talk about ep. 22, it was fantastic ;D
Good buildup episode to the finalé. Anyone able to confirm the length of the final episode? I've heard conflicting stories that it's a double-length one, and that this will be a normal length episode that was meant to be part of a triple-length version but they split it into episodes 21, 22 and 23.
Also, I'm an idiot. It took the summary at the start of the episode for me to work out that the Walker Project was the little girl. What a div.
I've heard similar things. Some say next weeks is the finale with an extra 5 minutes. Everything is set now but unless I missed something, why does Sylar want to blow up NY? Sure it ends well for him judging from Future Hiro's timeline but current Sylar doesn't know that does he?
At the moment I can only speculate that either he's just severely pissed about his mum, or that he gets cornered towards the end and uses it to escape... I only assume that now he has the power he's immune to its effects so doesn't burn himself up, but then that would mean Peter was immune too.
So, to summarise, I don't know. :p
The thing is, he went to his mum's to talk to her about blowing up the city. Now he has the power he seems to want to blow up. I just can't work out why.
The way I see it, he went to his mother's to gain clarity on his destiny, knowing from the paintings that he may well be the one who was going to cause the explosion. Clearly he has issues with wanting to be special because his mother has always told him he is/could be. Without her acceptance that he is special without needing to be anything special he somehow needs to prove that he is.
How awesome was it when DL killed you know who?
What a way to die, and too right too. The guy deserved it!
All up to date now, episode 20 was a peak but the past 2 have also been excellent - great build up ton the finale.
As has been pointed out there are some holes, my current one being about Sylar not getting the shape shifters (or whatever she is) ability - she's about to be killed, and yet in the future time line he has her skill. You just have to forgive all this for now to enjoy it, and I am.
Also, I'm an idiot. It took the summary at the start of the episode for me to work out that the Walker Project was the little girl. What a div.
Oh me too. I literally went 'neeerrrrr, spakcaaa' to myself.
'Boom' :D
While I think about it - was it explained in previous episodes how Sylar got his freezing powers, and I've just forgotten about it?
It wasn't, but I think he used it when he did Molly's parents in (right at the start, when Parkman found her under the stairs). He either had the powers before then, or took them from one of them and used it on the other.
A lot to answer now in one episode, not sure what they'll answer and what they'll leave for next season:
Who is the bomb?
Will Hiro save Ando?
Will Bennet cap the little'un?
Will Jessica/Nikki save Mika?
Will the bomb go off?
And most importantly:
Will Sulu beam everyone to safety at the last minute?
(Did you know his characters license plate NCC-1701? - Geek!)
Yeah there's a lot of questions to be answered in just 42 minutes. Speaking of Sulu isn't it true that most of the older ones have powers that have been passed on to their kids? His son has the ability to beam up, so to speak, so maybe Sulu could save the world by beaming everyone to safety.
It's strange, you would think there would be more of a correlation of powers between parents and children, but it just seems to be random. Clare can regenerate, but her father and mother have the power of flight and pyrokinesis respectively. However, there must be some link that shows what mutation the child would have, which is why Linderman machinated the relationship between Niki (super strength) and DL (phasing) to get Micah (technopathy).
Another one for the Back To The Furure pile. In the 'new' future Hiro visited (5 years on), Sylar had acquired DL's power. Yet he is obviously now off the table, so somehow Hiro's actions since returning from the future have prevented DL and Sylar meeting - I dont see how though.
Another possibility I thought of is future Sylar gaining future Hiro's time travelling abilities - but of course we dont really understand how Sylar does what he does.
I guess one possibility is that it isn't just one power, one person, so there could be others out there with similar powers that we don't know of. Sylar may have harvested all sorts of powers in those five years.
Alternatively, it could just be that the writers make mistakes. They already admitted to one; the reason given for Mohinder's sister dying is that he was born too late to provide the transfusion to cure her. Earlier in the series they say that he was two years old when she died.
I think with the whole introduction of time travel you have to forgive a lot and take it on entertainment value as much as possible - which I am. The geek in me likes to understand these things unfortunately :D
Ditto. Time travel is a great tool for a story as Hiro can literally take the show anywhere, but of course its tricky to play with. Babylon 5 did it brilliantly with Babylon Squared and then 2 years later War Without End. They dropped in hints about things in Season 1 and concluded it in S3. The timeline never changed it played out as was intended.
Also DL isn't 100% dead is he? We just saw him get shot. People are only dead in TV land when they've been chopped up into 1000 pieces imho. I was thinking that since Linderman has healing powers maybe Nathan's dad isn't really his true Dad and his mum was naughty with Linderman. Then the healing power skipped a gen.
Another one for the Back To The Furure pile. In the 'new' future Hiro visited (5 years on), Sylar had acquired DL's power. Yet he is obviously now off the table, so somehow Hiro's actions since returning from the future have prevented DL and Sylar meeting - I dont see how though.
Susan wants to know about one of the newer powers we saw Sylar display. "In 'Five Years Gone,' 'Nathan' pulls Peter through the door, so they can have their showdown in the hall. My question is did Sylar get that from D.L. or is that a variation of Zane's melting ability?"
He got this ability from DL. One thing that was really fun to do with this episode is to string some stories across all our characters. If you watch the episode a few times, you'll notice that Peter says DL is “gone” to Niki. Hiro will admit that he brought DL to Bennet. Bennet explains that he told Matt about some specials and handed them over to the government. And then we'll see the end result of Matt rounding him up in Sylar's phasing ability. It's all there, although we'll admit we certainly put the b in subtle.
Some interesting stuff in that interview, like Adrian Pasdar (Nathan Petrelli) got Zach Quinto (Sylar) to record all of his lines for him so that he could study the inflection and character so that he could bring that to his delivery of the lines.

Totally awesome. Great way to end a series.
90% of the episode was fantastic, and it is my no 1 show this year. thou just being nipicking
The last battle between Peter and Syler was a let down, way too short. After what seems Peter absorbed Nikki's super strength you would think he could beat the crap out of him. Also I would've expect Hiro to stab Syler more than once.
Why couldn't Peter fly away himself?
Why not just wack him unconscious, it's shown that will stop the radiation, already done earlier in the episode. Nikki would've done the trick with that parking meter.
Shooting him dead would've worked too, since taking the bullet out he'll live again so Nathan basically died for nothing (thou he might have flown away before he died but certainly got a good dose of radiation
OMG, OMG, OMG, and another dose of OMG.
Thus summarises my view of that episode and that series :D
...
At a guess because this was a better ending. Maybe Peter couldn't have flown off because he wasn't exactly in control of his abilities. Also Peter has already absorbed Sylar's telekenetic powers so surely he could have just cut him in half. I think there's a lot of things that *could* have happened but that was a great ending. I still feel the Nikki / Jessica storyline was quite weak and they devoted too much time to it.
I had a lump in my throat at that ending. Loved it. Sugoi!
Aye, I watched this episode this morning. It wasn't my favourite episode of the series mainly for reasons stated by Raymond. Don't really understand why Nathan had to do that. It was a satisfying ending though, and wrapped up a lot of things quite nicely.
Also, why use the spoiler tag inside a thread that has **SPOILERS TO SERIES 1 FINALE** in the title?
Either way, fantastic series  Can't wait for the next one!
At least we found out Bennett's first name!
Edit: And thinking about it, it's explainable as to why he didn't just fly off:
"Nathan, I took his power. I can't control it. I can't do anything."
That pretty much implies that he's concentrating on trying to contain the explosion.
Um, well that didn't work!
I'll agree that the climax of Sylar vs Peter was a bit of a let down in terms of length, but overall I enjoyed the episode. And the series for that matter, great start to a new franchise.
24 to finish tonight, and Lost tomorrow!

Well we caught up to episode 20 whilst we were away :)
Ok so I don't completely spoil everything for myself, can anyone that's downloaded all of the episodes so far possibly burn them to DVD and mail them to me? I'll cover costs...
It's just that with my sucky connection it would take longer to download them than it would to wait for them to come out on DVD and buy them. ;)

sure thing mate, let me know your address and I'll copy mine :)
Right then, it's a bit of a bump because I've only just caught up having had a few marathon Heroes sessions over teh last couple of weeks.
Very good series, I think I'd have been humpty if I'd had to wait a week inbetween each episode but certainly looking forward to the next season.

It was so frustrating having to wait towards the end, particularly when we had that mid season break and had to wait 3 - 4 weeks to see what happened next
the break came after the episode that finished with Pete pinned up against the wall by Sylar in Mohinders apartment. Hopefully they won't do the same thing with the next series!
I think I was just served in Sainsbury's by Sylar - the guy looked just like him. Worryingly, he commended me on how quickly I typed my PIN in. Maybe that's my power...
Your power is quite clearly l33t dancing skillz (http://www.boat-drinks.co.uk/showthread.php?t=5228) tbh.
Yeah, let's hope I don't lose that skill! :/
Good quality teaser trailer for series 2 which doesn't really give anything away.

I was just watching that episode and noticed that. Someone went to a lot of trouble to include that!! ;D
Very much so!! I'm on Ep 17 right now (doing a weekend (for me) marathon from beginning to end).
Ok, I just finished watching through the end of season 1. What part of everyone being all happy-go-lucky in Dealy Plaza and all wanting to go home and such, but not noticing that Sylar crawled down into the sewer just doesn't sit right?:undecided::shocked:
*taps fingers on desk patiently waiting for season 2 to come out....*
Ok, so not quite so patiently

I was thinking exactly the same as you Darrin, though my thoughts kinda went onto "oh great what a cop out"

I think the cheer leader's hot... ok ok she's a bit young but I don't care....
Now, Mr Bennet, good or bad? I'm warming to him... Hmm should we add a spoiler tag Matt?
I agree she is Hot & only recently turn 18 :)
Though Jessica is worth a look ;)

Where can you down load the episodes ! ?
Use any of your favourite torrent search engines and just hunt for heroes - You'll probably find a single torrent for the whole season.

if only I'd have known a few weeks back I had the entire series on 2 DVDs and posted them to Darrin. I might have the first 14 or so on a disc somewhere if you're interested.

Of which I am eternally grateful to you for. If there's ever anything I can do for you from this side of the pond, feel free to let me know.
