Quite simply oh ****
http://emp.damage-web.net/viewtopic.php?p=62590
Credit cards of everyone that has paid with steam dumped on the net. Dammit I really liked steam but thats a joke. Really going to have to check my cc now
Not really a problem for me anymore considering someone got hold of the details at the end of March anyhow :p
CC is blocked now, sucks for others though.
Aye i'm currently contemplating if I should block my barclaycard.... infact I might just ask for a new card as they could have everything to make a transaction. What a pain in the butt
I'd go for a new card personally. That's what I'm going to do after I get refunded the money. It happened twice with mine in the space of 3 weeks :/
New card on the way. If the details aren't out there then its not a problem, if they are on the net.... i;ve just saved myself some grief
*Hugs Half-life 2 DVDs* :D
Pain in the butt for most though. :(

Having read that it appears that MaddoxX chappy is a bit of a cock but aside from that it is pretty shocking that Valve could be hacked like that. I'm curious as to whether debit cards are in much danger since that is what I used but then anyone using mine is likely to find themselves with negative money because thats what I'm on just now. :D
Well, if you don't mind paying £30-odd overlimit fees every day plus whatever they manage to get out from your bank, then sure, you're not at risk. Of course, there's a fair chance they'll not even bother, but rest assured, if you know your card has been compromised and don't tell the bank, it's more likely than not they'll say you've been negligent and demand you pay back every penny, followed swiftly by account closure.
In short, I'd get it cancelled.
As for the cracker, well, I'm not even going to go there.

Cheers Mark, it is pretty much as I thought then although I was obviously being flippant about the negative money since I know that I could go over my overdraft. I don't specifically know my account has been compromised and the bank would have a hard time proving that I did know since it is essentially the word of one cracker saying he has breached security. Until and unless Valve contact me to let me know of the breach then I quite legitimately could choose not to trust someone who claims to have broken into their system.
I probably will cancel my card and request a new one tomorrow anyway just in case. :)
Plus the average person online wouldn't have a clue about crackers or anything like this. I know my parents wouldn't have the faintest clue until it was on the news on the TV unless I told them.
Both very valid points. Still, having been on the wrong end, it's simply not worth the hassle dealing with fraudulent transactions if they can be avoided. You can always get cash out at a branch should you need to.
Definitely not, I've been on the wrong end too, don't forget ;)
Just saying that I strongly doubt the bank would blame the customer in this case because I would have thought the vast majority of people involved in this would have no clue whatsoever about such a breach, unless valve decide to email all their customers.

Just what I was thinking.. I can't even remember which card I used tbh.. :undecided:
