I've just bought a Palm TE2 for two reasons..
1) Satsify gadget lust
2) Always wanted a PDA
and mostly
3) Can't afford a bike specific tomtom type jobbie, and the car ones don't have a headphone jack, so this bad boy's going in the see through bit of my tankbag so I don't get lost :D
I'm going to snide a copy of Tomtom 5 for it, but I'm a nub at this stuff. for a GPS receiver, will any bluetooth one do?
This one:

is cheap.. would that do it? I'm a noob!
I'm just waiting for it to charge so I can play with it :D
Just noticed on the list it doesn't list the Palm TE2 :(

Probably worth paying the extra for SIRF III chipset tbh
MB
Agreed. Having owned various earlier GPS devices, I wouldn't buy anything that didn't have the SIRF chipset today.

Prices seem to be going from about £80 for those, I can't really afford that...
What will be bad about a cheap GPS receiver? I mean if it's not going to work properly/at all obviously I will have to spend more, but if it's just going to be a bit sluggish, I could deal with that.

ooo bonus :D
So... will that work with my Palm then? It's not listen on the list, but.. bluetooth's bluetooth, right?
Yes bluetooth is bluetooth ;)
I was going to suggest the Holux 236 slim which both me and MB have but looking at the price of them now  ..........ive had mine for a good 6 months and im sure i could sell it on ebay now for a good profit
But like MB said anything with the SIRF III chipset will be the way to go

Finally got my maps sorted at half past three the other night!
I need to sort out some sort of mount, I can't see it properly in the tank bag, so I've got some fabrication type stuff to do (or make my dad do :D)
And yeah desmo for longer journeys that might be something I'll have to take you up on :)

The setup for mine was super gay, I finally found out that the instructions for the hack were missing a rather large and vital chunk :/
Then it took me about four goes (i,e four sets of maps) to finally get a set of UK maps that worked.
Rabbish! But it works now :D

Yeah it's always been a pain, I managed to grab an early release of TT6 when it first came out, shame the install instructions where german, and soddy at best...
