View Full Version : 28 Weeks Later
Goretastic!
I loved the first one so was pretty up for this, even though I'm not keen on scarey films. It's not scarey at all in the conventional sense though, just out and out gorey...lovely!! :D It made me jump out of my skin a few times and I felt a fair amount of time hiding behind my coat though! There isn't a huge amount of story to develop, but what there is is well done, keeps you interested and is just about believable enough to be vaguely disturbing (well, not believable, but also not utter fantasy if you get what I mean) And seeing a totally empty London is eerie!
If you want an out and out gorey jumpfest, this is for you!
Was just going to start a thread here about this!
Really horrible! The little boy Andy was so much like my youngest Beck I was on the edge of my seat all the way through and needed to cal home afterwards!
I jumped several times too!
Gory like Hostel? Or Grindhouse?
I love gore.
Well I watched this last night..... a really really good film, one that you've gotta go see on the big screen for the full effect.
Part of what made the original film great is that the biological weapon testing is still going on now. If you think the UK infected Anthrax island in 1942 , 65 years of biological weapon research has passed since then.
I couldn't even imagine what they have now. So an outbreak of a virus that sends people mad is not that far in the realms of fantasy.
The sequel..... Well the first was a gritty film and the one of the attractions was that it was a few people who you followed just trying to stay alive. The second one continues with this and you follow the fight of people to stay alive in this mess. There are also some key questions, for instance what would you be prepared to do when the chips are down?
In all a violent, gritty film that breathes a new breath of life into the zombie venture. There could do with being a little bit more development around the history of the survivers and the impact of this. There is scope for more films and its certainly ranking up there with one of the better films I have seen.
Now this, a HD projector, good surround system, and a blackened out room will be excellent. I download a lot of stuff, but this is one thats actually worth the money of going to see.

Gore as in you have infected humans that can sprint like you, thus making a group of them fast. They have pure rage so all they want to do is kill you by beating/biting in the most violent way possible.
I think that sums it up really. These are not slow things like zombies as they are not really dead, just infected humans.

Zirax is right, it's not Shawn of the Dead creeping zombies where you've got time to finish your pint and nip to the loo before they get a hold of you, it's normal people in a insane blind homicidal rage and they turn within seconds.
Pucker up!
Paul did point out that at the beginning they said it hadn't crossed species - it had in the first one when the chimp bit the animal rights protester. We both got the giggles during the helicopter scene - so much gore!
Ohh I wanna see this... Though I've never seen 28 days later - is it worth seeing that first?
Watch 28 days later definitely, good film in it's own right and although I haven't seen 28 weeks later I suspect there'll be some back-references :)
There are, but I think it does stand alone if you havent seen the previous film. You should still 28 Days Later though, excellent film!

I saw 28 weeks later without seeing 28 days later - just read the 28 days later synopsis on imdb.com beforehand.
Brilliant film! :D

Ohh I wanna see this... Though I've never seen 28 days later - is it worth seeing that first?Definitely as it is a good film. Story wise though, the entire explanation of the first film is done in the first five minutes as it explains what has happened between 28 days after the first outbreak (the first film) and 28 weeks after the first outbreak (which is when the film starts in District one) :)

What a great Film ! !
The 1st film, 28 Days was amazing,...do not watch by your self in a dark room with the lights off ! ! ! !
28 weeks I thought was not quite as good as 28 days. It had more action in the form of explosions and shooting, plus some CGI.
This is one of the few films I will by when it is first out on DVD.
Great film
What the survivors need is a cybernet T1 to wade in to the ineffected waste then with a mini gun ! ! !
Sorry thats my imagination running away with me again ! ! ! !
