It's been working fine since being chipped and Jodie has been playing Super Paper Mario for the last 3 days (first import game i've tried). Turned it on this morning and was greeted by a loud grinding noise. Popped the CD out and turned it off quickly and there were no scratches on the CD at all. It doesn't grind anymore but i can no longer read even the original games i have. Is it worth me removing the Wiikey then trying to send it back? I have the receipt still but guess they'd tell me to speak directly to Nintendo?

I'm pretty sure that you can get your VC games back. Think you might have to phone Nintendo tech support and they can link them to your new console for re-downloading.

Ouch but at least you can get it replaced.

Have you got a bank statement or anything like that detailing the transaction? That should do iirc.

Was bought from Ebay originally unfortunately.

Ah ok, should be fine to send back to Nintendo to replace though. From things I've read they've been very good at fast replacements.

Think they'll notice it's been cracked open though? The Wiikey has been removed already.

Won't know till you send it off :D It's worth a try, worst that happens is they say no, and it's buggered anyhow.
I'd give it a go.

Yeah there is that lol. I'll give them a ring tomorrow and can always feign innocence if they find out :D.

Innocence is often handy :D
Good luck :)

I sourced a new wii and chipped it myself and it works :party1:. Am making sure i keep the drive speed set to 3 on the wiikey settings from now on.

As to the old one, i'm being a bit sneaky, have changed covers so the old one has the new serial number etc and am going to return it as broken. Should get a working wii or a full refund if they've run out of stock.
