Me no comprende. Hardly surprising considering my lack of knowledge on the subject. :)

Its ok. If you didn't know what the things were you wouldn't understand the consequences.

Basically, what you are looking at is a jumpstart pack which is a booster for a flat battery. It has been used and instead of tidying the cables away, they have just been chucked into the car.

They have somehow touched which has created a huge amount of heat and possibly an exploding battery in the pack, which has in turn led to a fire started at the back end of the car.

The scrappy was keen to point out the engine still starts. I was a bit concerned as the chassis leg was buckled from the heat and the fuel lines could have broken.

Ah, OK, it was a jumpstart pack. I suspected it was but wasn't sure if it was the cause. :)

WHOOPS! I didn't check the height of my 12V battery when I converted the pop from 6V. It only dawned on me when I went to shut the hood and it could have touched both the terminals :D

BANG! :D

Shame that such a nice car was ruined :(

Still the engine is worth taking out of that ;)

That was my initial thoughts in that the front looks good, you might be able to nick stuff from it for a donor car
