The number of rats that will end up bought individually, put on inappropriate substrate, kept in too small a cage, end up as unwanted pets worries me - there are enough stupid owners and unwanted rats out there already. Because the "demand" will be for dumbos people will try breeding just for that, probably producing hundreds of top-ears who won't get homes because they're not like the rat in the film.

Get off soap box :o

I'm really looking forward to this! :D A guy at work is selling it - but I want to watch it at the cinema - it looks great!

Ratatouille is delicious too! :D

I saw it a couple of months ago for the first time, and watched it several times since too! Really good

I somehow managed to miss this earlier.

You're right and this is what I thought you were intimating (even though it wasn't obvious from the article).

This kind of thing happens whenever there is a movie with a cute animal in (does everyone remember the hoohah after free willy was released when thousands of poor killer wales were abandoned!!??) and I certainly wish that it didn't happen.

Unfortunately, people are materialistic ****s :(

Didn't Flushed Away increase rat ownership as well?

Nah, it just increased bleach usage...

Not really - in the UK it was marketed as being about "Roddy the mouse" because the producers thought UK people were too up themselves to want to watch a film about rats.
Sales of mice went up something silly though and I know a few rescues who said their intake of unwanted mice a few weeks/months after it was released was nearly double what it normally was.

With each release of an HP movie there is an increase in people wanting an Owl as a pet, and parents daft enough to try to give in to their child's whims.

They should do a film about dung beetles or sloths.
