I missed them when they were first broadcasted and I've been meaning to buy the DVDs since. No need! Found all episodes of this series on V demand. Started watching them on Sunday and I've only 3 left.

Fantastic WWII series that follows US Airbourne 101st Easy company from the days of operation Overlord, Market Garden in Holland to the final days.

I have to say, and I'm not afraid to admit, but this is moving stuff and has had me on the brink of a few tear jerking moments.

Absolutely a must see :)

''History doesn't have much impact if you just issue a bunch of dates and military manoeuvres. It is most effective when it features drama between real people, and when the real human cost is evident.''

It amazes me that this actually happened and how lucky we all are. I'm not sure what drove these men forward. Tremendous bravery.

Aye, I agree entirely. A couple of the episodes I thought were a bit bland but the whole series was excellent overall. And I loved the touch of seeing comments by the survivors without actually knowing who they are so as not to spoil anything. The final episode has names under them so you can see who is who.

The episode with the medic was the stand out ep for me, but the entire series is utterly brilliant.

Finished watching this series last night with the Eagles nest and the special that followed.

Very moving stories some of those vets were telling. Particularly about the lad who was worried about never receiving even a scratch through D-Day, Holland and the months that had passed in Bastogne.. He thought when He got hit, he'd get the big one.. he was right.. :(

Great scenes at the end of the soldiers looting the German SS treasure caves.. On asking Major Winters if he had a problem with this, he said no, after what these lads had been through and seen, i think they deserve it.

Very good series.

It's becoming more and more important that these stories are handed down before they are lost forever.

Major Winters has passed on. I hope the series did him the credit he deserved.

Yes it certainly did, he was heavily involved in its creation and I'll be re-watching it as a fitting tribute :)

No. No way. I have read up so much on this man, he is genuinely an absolute legend - his bravery and true loyalty. Well it's a rarity nowadays.

I feel a bit teary eyed... which is a bit unlike me.

I have literally just bought Band of Brothers with some quidco monies left over as I love it so so much. I have just started watching The Pacific which is brilliant but... doesn't quite have the same edge as Band of Brothers.

RIP Winters - what a true gentleman and hero.

Funniest bit in The Pacific was when one of them started singing
"How f***ed are we now! how f***ed are we now!" just before they went into battle. Had me proper laughing for about 10 minutes. ;D

Band of Brothers was a fantastic series - so insightful when you heard the vets chatting about their experiences and also so filled with emotion.

Major Dick Winters was epitome of a hero / legend. Then again anyone who died in those horrible dark times were.

Saw this on twitter, very sad :(

Band of Brothers was a brilliant series. I need to finish watching the Pacific.

Next time a reporter is going to refer to a footballer as a hero for scoring a goal they should sit back and reflect that Major Winters and his ilk are the definition of the word hero. I was saddened to hear of the death of a great man.

I'll be re-watching Band of Brothers when I have a free day but not The Pacific, like many others I can't help feeling that it missed the mark.

I was saddened to hear of the death of a great man.True. Hero is a word/title/honour that we massively overuse. Your footballer line shows how silly we are to consider footballers who earn thousands a week heroes when the real heroes are people like Winters and his men who fought, and died, for their countries for very little money compared to the likes of Rooney, Gerrard and Terry.

The Pacific, like many others I can't help feeling that it missed the mark.I have it on Blu-ray and whilst it is good for TV, it is shamefully poor in comparison to Band Of Brothers. Some episodes made me think that there wasn't much point in making Pacific if it was this bad compared to BoB.

The Pacific is a reasonably good series- it is fairly entertaining and worth a watch - but it is incredibly overshadowed by BoB and holds only a fraction of the emotion and replayability.

I would challenge any series to rival BoB though - I consider it to be one of the finest productions to ever be seen on television.

Got band of brothers on blue ray and it's amazing more like a very long film than a series, also started watching Pacific and that's equally great can't wait for the next disc from lovefilm.

I often watch band of Brothers from first episode to the last one, and it is just an amazing story.
