Now normally when I travel I don't eat in the hotel as the kind of hotels I tend to stay in for work are **** City Centre Hotels that serve what I refer to as Posh Food, i.e. small servings of very nice food. Not really much good to me as my taste buds can't tell the difference and I like my portions Super size ;)

Tonight I decided to goto the hotel restaurant as I hurt my ankle at the weekend and I've walked too far today so it's hurting like hell. I get to the restaurant (Torino, Italy btw) and immediately realise that I'm in for a night of Posh Food.

Starter - Salmone Shetland - A few slivers of salmon with some guacamole and miniscule amount of caviar in some jelly type stuff.

Main Course - Fassone Erbe - A few slivers of steak on a bed of veal. Now I have no idea what the hell they'd done to this veal or infact which part of the animal I was eating but it tasted ****ing awful. There were no chips

Desert - Gelao crema - Now I don't normally bother with desert but I was still peckish after the main meal and a big pile of bread/breadsticks so I opted for the desert menu. Alas all the 'proper' deserts had something in them that I really don't like (the cheesecake looked fantastic but I HATE almonds) so I went for vanilla ice cream.

Wine - A half bottle of Pinot Grigio that was poured out in 50ml servings by a fastidious waiter.

Water - A bottle of water was put on my table when I sat down, it turns out I've been charged for it.

So the grand total for the meal that was admittedly of a very high quality if lacking in any real quantity. 70 Euros!!! :embarassed: I think I'm going to have to e-mail my boss to explain when I expense this receipt.

Last time I was in Torino (last week actually) I only paid 80 euros for 3 of us to have fantastic pizzas and a big pile of booze :D

I've had hotel food much of this week, it was meant to be a 4* hotel, I can safely say the food was nowhere near 4* quality imo or according to the other 15 people with me.
The chef seemed to boil everything for hours until there was no flavour left, or drown it in olive oil :/
Very disappointed :( At least it was free.

I've just remembered my most expensive work meal so far. Posh hotel in Rome, myself and a collegue had a 2am start and worked all day so all we could manage to do was crawl to the hotel restaurant. Starter, main course for 2 and a bottle of red wine came to a grand total of 220euros

My boss didn't even think twice about signing it off :)

Im going to be staying near Heathrow again sometime next week if anyone fancies joining me for a meal on the company. I really liked the waitress and the steak was absolutely heaven, not to mention the raspberry eaton mess.
