View Full Version : The first blade shaves you close, and the second closer still

A good few years ago, Gillette introduced a twin blade razor with the claim that "The first blade shaves you close, and the second closer still".

Time has passed and we had a three blade, then a four blade razor and Mrs. Feek has just bought me home a new Gillette five bladed razor (six if you count the single trimming one on the other side).

Does that now mean that the first blade shaves you close, and the second closer still, the third takes off the skin, the fourth slices away the muscle and the fifth cuts a sliver off the bone!

I've tried it and I have to say that it's very good, but does it shave any better than the four bladed one? That depends on the definition of 'better'. It's quicker, so therefore it's better as far as I'm concerned. Anything which reduces the time I spend mowing my face is a good thing.

I spoke to my barber about these multi bladed razors a while ago because every now and then I treat myself to a proper barbers shave. He's stopped doing them except for his few remaining regulars because he now feels that a modern razor gives as good a shave as a sharp cut-throat blade.

They're just so bloody expensive for the replacement blades.

Dude, i thought this was going to be a Horrific razor Youtube vid link kind of thing going on :(
I'm a bit dissapointed to be quite kin honest ;D
Anyways on topic i'll go.
I only use the two bladed ones, sod all that multi bladed nonsence, when i tried them they felt like i was pulling a fag box over my face they just didn't roll around my face like a two blader.
Suits me & my budget being on the two bladers so i say be gone with your multi bladed nonsence.

And that's telling ya ;D

I love my fusion (think thats what its called, the 5+1)
you are right, its not any closer shave than the 4 blade, but it is faster.

I have found Makro cash and carry good for replacement blades, usually about 2/3 the price of tesco etc.

Fay has a 4 blade razor and i bought him 8 replacement blades for £8.99 the other day  The fusion razor blades are about £10.99 for 8 i think
Fay gets a sore face from shaving so i wouldn't be bothered spending loads on blades if it means he'll have a smooth and rash free face. :)

Chainsaw for the win!

Agreed, but for now we're only talking about removing the hair, not the whole head ;)

A real shave is when the mirror is peppered with blood, and you can hear the aftershave hiss.
