The Xbox LIVE Marketplace is set to massively expand with the roll-out of a movie rental download service for Europe. Initially, 35 current and library film titles will be available for viewing from Xbox LIVE Video Marketplace, and we’re planning to have the service in full swing by the end of the year.

Sounds good, just need to know how much things will cost to buy before I get too excited about it.

Edit: My guess for the launch date is 24th August, the same day as the Elite release.

It would make sense but my money's on a bit later than that, and the rest of Europe later still.

The cost on US marketplace isnt actually that bad for a rental so I hope it translates fairly. Will defo have my eye on the bigger hard drive when the Elite's out.

Aye, let's hope they don't make the cost too prohibitive. I don't mind paying a pound or two to watch something but if it starts hitting £3-5 then I wont bother.

I'd consider it as well, if there were a way to transfer all my save information from my current hard drive to the larger one. I'd lose a fair few saves if I couldn't do that.

What format is it going to be in? There isn't enough room for more than one HiDef movie on the standard HDD that comes with the premium and at 3-9Gb for a DVD 5/9 you're not going to get many of those on it either :D

For reference:

The Fugitive - 130 Minutes

480p Available (240pts, 1.60 GB)
720p Available (360pts, 6.00 GB)
This is why the yanks got the 120GB hard drive first. Keep in mind that all your downloads are time bombed of course, and will self delete after set times.

That looks pretty compressed to me, although its not a service which is of any interest to me anyway, newsgroups mean I very rarely pay for movies, although if we go HiDef I'll be back to renting even with a 20Mb broadband line.

Sounds good :) I'm not too sure how often I'd use it, if ever, but I like having the option there.
