My Xbox has been sent back to MS today for scratching discs. I'm sad and lonely.

Our relationship is only a month old but already I'm missing it. The kids are on holiday, they're not happy as they'd fallen in love as well.

They're currently quoting 25 working days turnaround. With shipping I reckon it'll be gone for at least six weeks, probably nearer two months.

:(

They're probably quoting that to account for increased volume after the warranty increase, it'll likely be sooner than that. Still, :(

Gonna buy a Wii component and PS2 RGB scart cable at dinner time today so I can use the other consoles while the 360 is away being doctored.

I dunno Daz, from what I've been reading, people are waiting that sort of time at the moment :/
Not to say it won't be sooner though. Guess it's all luck of the draw.

Can I send you LMF and YMF to look after while it's being fixed? ;) :D

Maybe we should ban BB from the Computer section :D

Cables purchased. It'll be the first time I've had decent displays (as far as possible) out of the Wii and the PS2.

I'll be looking for the GT4 CD when I get home!

Mine went back yesterday. I'm missing it a lot, especially after having nearly 3 weeks off work without it already when I was off with my back. I want it back :(

In some ways it's not a bad thing - I bought the PS2 after the bowling meet having seen GT4 on MBs projector but because I was running it on a ratty old portable TV I never got into it so I'm hoping that this will give me a chance to play the game properly.

But I'm missing Forza already and Mrs. Feek and the Feekletts had Boom Boom Rocket withdrawal symptoms before I'd even left the house.

I keep getting urges to play Guitar Hero, Saints Row, Dead Rising, and stuff like that, then realise I can't. I think when I get it back I may not sleep that night for playing it so much :D

The Wii looks soooooo much better going in via component than composite as does the PS2 on RGB but they're still rubbish compared to the 360! I'd also forgotten how I don't like the lack of a trigger for accelerator on the PS2 controllers.

Is it fixed yet?

Now I'm arguing with Microsoft.

When I first called, the guy I spoke to said he'd give me an email address to send a photograph of my damged CD (front, back and the box) to get a free replacement.

We then sorted out the box itself and I forgot to take the email address.

I spoke to someone a few days later who mailed me a link to their disc replacement programme but there's a £10 charge.

So I just called back and had a long discussion with a guy who kept telling me that the disc is free but the tenner is a postage fee. I refused to accept that after what I'd been originally told. I refused to accept that a tenner is a valid cost for posting a disc, and that I was not happy to pay anything.

I asked for an address to write to to make a complaint but he kept trying to give me an email address which is no good as I wanted a snail mail address. Finally he said he'd escalate the call to someone higher up in the 'customer satisfaction' tree.

I'm not paying for a bloody replacement disc, the console scratched it and I see no reason I should pay anything for the disc. I'll pay a couple of quid for postage if I really have to, but not a tenner.

So I'm expecting a call back in the next 48 hours.

I'd certainly expect the game to be sent for free, and replaced for free as well. Tell them to send it back with the Xbox when it's fixed, they can just bung it in the box for no extra postage then, and you won't be playing it until you get your Xbox back I guess.

That's what I'm going to suggest when they call me.

I can't see the factory doing the repairs have loads of games kicking about so I doubt they'd do that. Still, you shouldn't have to pay a thing although I have heard of this £10 charge before.
