Went to see this tonight and I must say it truly rocked, I kinda by-passed the original series, I not entirely sure why, maybe I was a little old for it but this adaptation is quite surprisingly good.
Admittedly you need to switch your brain off a bit but it has everything you could want in an action movie; action, explosions, comedy, cool cars (I love the Solstice in Forza and it makes a cool Autobot too :)), cute girls ;) and bloody great big robots.
I seriously recommend this one, so much so I actually went to the cinema to see it

2 thumbs up :)
yeah baby, YEAH! :D
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG and I think also OMG.
Just back from seeing this at the cinema, albeit with a slight detour to the pub on the way back...
What a well produced film that was :D
Had my concerns about it to be honest, with people mentioning the humour and stuff, but I've got to agree, the humour worked and was perfectly balanced for the action.
I felt a bit at times like they liked the close angle camera shots almost too much for the fight sequences, occasionally I lost track of who was the bad guy and who was the good guy, and felt I was missing some of the possible skill and beauty behind what they were doing as a consequence.
I can tell I'm missing a lot of good films right now. Doesn't feel right going to the cinema on my own, and especially as the nearest cinema is an hour away (they keep telling us they're going to be building a local one 'next year') :(
Seen the trailers though and I'd like to see this, as well as several other films mentioned here recently.

That kinda sucks given the size of the town you live in. I'm stunned you haven't got a decent cinema around.
I rather deliberately held out for this film, despite knowing there were decent rips out there. I knew this was worth the silver screen treatment and I'm glad I saw it as such because anything less just wouldn't have quite done it justice IMO :)
LOL @ the Beagle 2 references in the trailer I just watched. ;D
Aye - we used to have a cinema but it was an old-school place - too small and too old for anyone to make a go of. It's now an LA Fitness. :/

Went on Friday and thought it was brilliant though I did totally ignore what can only be losely refered to as the story line ;)
The original is still miles better :D
Amazing amazing amazing - watched it in Leicester Square, was awesomely awesome!
A literal assault on the senses, brilliant start, middle, end aaaahhh it was legendary!
Plus Megan Fox, sweeeeeet jeeeeeesus she is absolutely frickin' smokin' hot!!! Yowzers!!
Brilliant film, loved the references to the original film as well, one shall stand, one shall fall etc :D
11/10- I can't think of anything more the film could have done to be better really, best film I've seen in aaaages
Might be going to see this tomorrow night with Sinead and my mate. Can't wait :D

I went to see it on Friday, I'm gonna ask my mate if he wants to go again. I loved it :).
Loved it all apart from the end.
Was stupid to think they covered it all up at the end. I have no idea how it would be possible to cover up that huge battle in the city.

I didn't think they did cover it, I thought it was just his parents being stupidly niaive and believing the government. People will still know what it was :p.
Spoiler Tags have now been added - Desmo
Thanks for the spoilers, guess I won't need to bother going to watch it now.

eh? There was nothing covered up in the version I saw. The battle ended, then Optimus starts his speech

Doesn't make a damn bit of difference to be honest lads, nothing here is a spoiler.

Someone didn't stick around during the credits then ;)
You missed his parents talking to the media perpetuating a coverup "Its one of the great perks of a free country, the government tells you stuff"
Also you'll have missed Starscream flying off away from the planet, presumably in hunt for other Decepticons

Agreed, what was posted didn't say anything much plot wise you couldn't have already gleaned from the trailers anyway.

They dumped the dead Transformers in a very deep gulf in the ocean so the evidence could never be found.
To me that infers the government covered it up. Which makes no sense as it would be impossible to hide the fact a city just got ripped to pieces by giant robots. ;D
Oh I don't know. Whilst there have been no major plot giveaways, I now know something that happens at the end of the film that I haven't seen yet. It's a kind of spoiler, although a slightly minor one.
I see a spoiler as anything describing the main storyline really. It doesn't have to be a major part of the plot to be a spoiler IMO.
What was said above was certainly not enough to worry me. But then we're not all me are we :)

There was no spoiler posted if you ask me, it's actually nothing to do with the main plot of the film.
Well maybe not. But it's hard to know that unless you've seen the film :)
Just a heads up - Transformers: The Movie is on ITV4 tonight at 10pm. :)
oooooh, cooool :D
We went to see this the other day but it was so packed we could only sit at the very front about 15ft from the screen. Walked straight out and got a refund :/
Will wait until it's less busy.

There was a plot? Why did no one tell me? I thought it was just blinkin' huge robots, fighting, hot girls and some comedy. ;)
I went in with low expectations and came out pleasantly surprised, not a great film but a good bit of mindless fun even if it was about 30-60 minutes too long. I mourn the days when action films were 90 minutes long and you knew they'd crammed absolutely everything in there. :)
Sorry guys, forgot to add a spoiler tag. :embarassed:
I loved it :D:D:D
Yes I am a transformer fan-girl - always was always will be :D
The fact they kept in all the 1980s "mankind is good/courageous/brave/"insert appropriate descriptive here"/etc as long as we all work together" stuff made me giggle no end :D
Can't wait to see what extras get thrown onto the dvd :D
We saw this last night and both agreed that it > The Simpsons/POTC3/Spiderman3/Harry Pothead/DH4 (although close) + anything else we have seen recently.
I was a bit wary about how they were going to get over the cheesieness of the whole talking robot thing but I thought it was BRILLIANT!!! :D
The special effects were amazing and so slick...and although I found myself thinking 'oh here we go again... fit blonde who can miraculously break codes/is a geek is going to save the planet' wasn't as bad as I thought it would be in the end
I loved OP and BB... can you love a robot? meh! :embarassed:
Megatron was fugly though.
BB x
Went to see this last night and, TBH, came out disappointed :/
Too much cheese from characters that shouldn't be cheesy and the robots were, as I said when I first saw pictures, far too detailed. You can't really make out any of their main features because there are too many fiddly bits. Once a fight scene kicked off there wasn't much point trying to figure out what was going on as it was just a mess of metal. Take away the nostalgia effect and this would be a very average film.
Just been to watch it. I was thoroughly impressed. Loved it. Definitely one to own on DVD. Non stop action, cute girl, cool cars, cheese, and fun banter. I thought it was fantastic!
