It seems to suggest he was very lucky and that it was caused by a blowout. Its interesting in that it gives an insight into the production processes of Top Gear.

Interesting reading.. loved this bit:

18 PTLE have failed to provide any meaningful documentary evidence about the history of the tyres fitted to Vampire, and in particular the fact that the rear tyres were 5 years old.

5 Year old tyres on the car? I know its not like your average 20k miles+ per year sort of car, but I would have expected they'd be wanting to routinely change the tyres on a much more regular basis if nothing else but because of their own safety!
