Stranglehold Demo

Downloaded this at the weekend and was fairly unimpressed at the start. Just looked like an inferior version of Max Payne, what with 'Tequila Time' instead of bullet time.

Have now played it through a few times and it really is a lot of fun. The perpetual sliding about on surfaces takes a bit of getting used to but there's some brilliant action to be had. The little sub-games where you get ambushed are a nice touch, and I like the precision-shot feature. I like how many objects you can shoot to land on people too - other games have made use of it but they're all over the place in this.

Definitely one I'm going to buy. Multiplayer looks interesting as well.

Played this through again last night and unlocked the Barrage power up - nice. Played it through again on Hard and got the Spin power up - nicer! The latter cuts to your character spinning round with whatever gun he has, doves flying everywhere (it is a John Woo game after all!) and slow motion shots of every bad guy in the vicinity getting shot up. Really starting to like this!

For Xbox Live adherents, a short trailer video at the end for the multiplayer mode may also stoke your interest. It looks like you can play as John Woo in multiplayer. Hell, it looks like you can play as Chow Yun Fat and shoot John Woo in the balls - judging by the sheer breadth of weird porn on the Internet, we're damned sure there's someone out there to whom we've just guaranteed a sale.

I played it last night. Like Feek the quit thing was annoying. Complete demo, trailer. Exit demo, same trailer. I did find it a bit annoying sliding off everything and it did feel like a cheap Max Payne game, lacking the refinement those had. However, there are moments were its damn cool.

Nice, good mixture there which should certain help replayability, and none instantly look insanely difficult to get :)
