I need some royalty-free music suitable for use as backing on an Essex meet video (bowling). Anyone got any ideas?

If it's just for "personal consumption", why does it need to be royalty free?

Because it isn't just for "personal consumption". :)

Well that's me all out of suggestions :)

Is there such a thing as royalty free music?

I'm sure it exists, just like you can get royalty-free clipart and so forth.

PS - by royalty free, I mean either copyrighted but free to use, not copyrighted, or copyright expired.

I'd do it without, but even at 24.6 mph, it still needs something (IMO). :)

Archive.org to the rescue! (http://www.archive.org/details/etree) :)

Yeah, that's the sort of thing. Restricted to non-commercial use is fine with me. Don't think a live set would work though. :(

There's also this (http://www.archive.org/details/opensource_audio) section :)

LOL! :D

I getcha. :) I'm sure people use regular music all the time for personal stuff? Or are you going to be publishing it to make money from it? Surely private video creation doesn't require licencing? I know I've created lots of vids (when I used to video skydiving jumps) and mixed in random music clips... It's really not a big deal - heck I even used to sell the videos!

Just trying to keep things above board for Daz. :)

For these boards? Or for something else? I really don't see the issue.... But maybe I'm missing something :)

Well, in that case, suggestions welcome. :)
