So I went on a mission today, to try and find a nice pair of going out jeans ( mine are getting really tatty ) and some new work trousers.

Not too much of a big deal you would think ? There's plenty about, just walk into a shop and pick some up...... MY ARSE !!!

Because I am a stupid small size I couldn't find any in the right short arse leg length ( 28 " :embarassed: )

All I want to do is go into a shop and be able to find something that fits me :'(

On the upside all the size 8's went over my arse and I could do them up ;D

I'm not lucky enough to be able to fit into size 8's (yet, anyway! :p ) but I have just now accepted the fact that everything needs to be taken up before I can wear it. :embarassed:

I actually have rather short legs and an expansive midriff (in case you hadn't noticed ;) ). Buying troosers can be somewhat troublesome since most manufacturers seem to think that if you have a 38 waist, you must be 6'6" tall and have a 34" inside leg. My inside leg is only 30-31" and trying to find 38"/31" troosers is not the easiest thing in the world.

I'm in a similar situation to you stan, I only have 30-31 ish inside leg and usually find trousers/jeans are a pain to find. I think I like US sizes more as I've lost 2 inches of my waist here ;D

Dymetrie
27-08-2007, 15:47
I have the opposite problem...

Trying to find trousers in 30/36 is a right bugger...

Oi! Clothes manufacturers! Just because someone's slim doesn't mean they're a midget!

grrrr...

Add me to that list - 29" inside leg and oversized rest of me. Used to be a place in town I got everything modified but that shut up shop a few years ago. :(

I have a wife who is a dressmaker :D
All my jeans/trousers have always been too long in the leg... so she takes them all up for me :D

I think the moral of this thread is 'is there any such thing as normal sized?' :)

Real odd ball sizes

Do they account for that in trouser sizes too? They think of everything!!

OMG you shouldn't have said that! I will inevitably attack her when I require something taken in/up/out ;)

Piggy - big time boo. Can you take things up though?

/me will look around shops in a couple of days and see whether I can spot anywhere for piggaroo

I always used to be 30/30, which was a pain, but these days I'm closer to a 30" waist and 32" legs, again still often a pain. Not sure whether the size sells fast or no one bothers stocking it much but grrrrr.

I bought some and will just have to turn them up - they don't look toooo bad.

Bought a pair of work trousers that are about 6" too big and I am hoping MummyDesmo will take them up for me .. I can't even sew a button on ;D

It's just so frustrating - I just want to walk into a shop and be able to buy something that fits :/

Fankoo for wubbles :D

30 is too tight around the crotch and butt-ocks for me, but 32" is hardly fat mr Belmit.

I'm guessing the haddock the size of Gibraltar's fishing quota made you need the 32" again?

Not much fits me because I'm skinny. If it fits in the arms/legs it's baggy then if it fits the body it looks all mincy and I look gay. Maybe it's time to get bang on the 'roids and make some clothes fit :D

Think how I felt at the time of joining the navy. I was 26-28"W X 34-36"L

Try and find THOSE pants anywhere!!

Nowadays I fit comfortably into 34WX34L. I'm getting fat in my old age.....

I've been 30W32L since I left school and can confidently say that no-one bothers stocking it much :(
But on the upside, it's usually cheaper than average when you do find some, so it's good to stock up when you get the chance.

I've always been a 32"W 30"L and never have a problem finding stuff that fits. Guess I'm just lucky to be in that proportion. Being a short arse can have it's benefits :D

34R is pretty much right for me, or 34 waist 32 leg if it has a leg measurement so it's not too tough... :)

Where I struggle with is shirts - they design shirts by neck size usually hence 18" usually is made for larger people so I have to tuck 20square feet of shirt into my trousers! :p I've ripped shirts on the back of my arm seem which sucks.

I can't say I feel your pain Sinead as my "issues" aren't as bad as yours I guess but I do know clothes shopping is a pain.

Piggy, my mum has the same problem and DPs sell petite stuff but not that much to chose from eh?
She's got a cataloge coming that sells petite clothes. I'll have a look through it when it arrives and if its any good i'll let you know (some cataloges are not too modern) :)

27-08-2007, 21:52
That would be lovely, Thanks Lom :)

I can get nice stuff from DP or Next but neither of them are in town and aren't cheap :/

I would love to be able to get some jeans from the likes of peacocks but I can't .. ARGH !!!

LOL. I just had a look at the ladies section of a shop I use. I easily found Jeans in 27" and 29" but not 28". If that's any use let me know and I'll give you the links (mail order or shop in Freeport btw).

Marshall Ward (and Littlewoods, they are now the same company) do a petite (http://www.marshallward.co.uk/rf/mar/navigation/spreadDsbs.do?categoryId=6676441) range Piggy

DP's also has a website (http://www.dorothyperkins.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=20552&storeId=12552&categoryId=51566&parent_category_rn=51561&langId=-1&top=Y) if you wanted to have a look :)

Being tall and skinny ain't much fun for getting clothes either, not quite as bad as Dymetrie but I'd normally be wearing 32-34 or 32-36 (these are sort of compromise sizes for me) and having to use a belt to keep the jeans up.

I was comfortable with 32" but recent exercising has reduced my belly, which is where most of my fat seems to sit. And that fish!

Sucks not being able to find stuff the right size. It doesn't matter if I'm fat (atm) or slim (before) my proportions stay the same and it's all wrong for most shops. Hipster jeans were a godsend, for a change I could get jeans that fitted (normally to get jeans I could get my bum in would mean the waist was huuuuge). Fitted shirts and dresses were always a no no as they were always the wrong shape. Bravissimo are great and I can get stuff that fits now but it's pretty expensive and the range is far more limited than other shops.

I feels your pain Piggy *hiugs* hope you can find some nice petite clothes from the links posted :)

I'm quite lucky in that respect, i'm somewhere between 32/30 30/30 generally which i think is a highly stocked (but popular) size in most clothes stores. Only problem is its the first thing to go in the bloody sales annoyingly...

You guys need to go to outlet shopping places - every time we got to the Levis shop in Gunwharf quays all you can find is 30W36L or 38W30L

Real odd ball sizes

Ohh I might have to put in an order!

My main grumbles are leg length and falling inbetween sizes. Also inconsistent sizes means I am often unsure which size to go for anyway.

I am thinking about taking some clothes to a local tailor as I seem to have a few things where the fit is just not quite right. I used to alter more things myself but I don't really have the time these days plus I think they will do a better job of it. Have many people tried this? I am not really sure what to expect although I popped in today for a price list and they seemed nice.

Bah!

BAH DIDDY BAH WAH WAH.

I went bra shopping yester and was absolutely ecstatic as there were some gorgeous ones my size - 34 DD - there never normally is!

HOWEVER!

Non of them fitted me right. The cup was eating my boob alive and the width was too big.

Soooo I have been refitted and I'm now a 32 E. IT'S SILLY! I'm losing weight yet my boobs are getting bigger!

What annoyed me the most was there were no bras (unless I wanted granny ones) in my new size :( *sobs some*

So. I'm still hippy and bummy (which means POOPY to finding any trousers - currently atwix size 10 and 12 - size 10 hips but size 12 butt), widdeler waist and whooping big mummas on top. I tried on a nice couple of tops which had buttons on too and *POP*POPOPOPPOP*.... they all burst open (like belmits cowboy shirt!) I swear it sounded like I was cooking popcorn in the fitting room. Yet, rather annoyingly it fitted perfectly round the waist - the next size up was too baggy.

WAAAAAAAAAGH!

/me officially hates clothes shopping even more so now.

Actually Peebee, cup sizes increase as the strap size decreases.... So a 32E is pretty much the same as a 34D....

Do not ask why I know this kind of thing :embarassed:

I've always had problems with clothes - when I was at my lightest of 9 1/2 stone I had something daft like a 27-28inch waist but a 36 inch arse which meant nothing fit.
Even at my heaviest of somewhere over mumblemumble13 1/2 stonemumblemumble my waist was 32 inches but my arse was somewhere around 50 inches :embarassed:
Now I'm losing weight I've gone down to *goes to find tape measure* 30inch waist (mebbe 29.5) and a 40 inch arse.

In basic talk it means anything that fits across my arse leaves me enough room for a tribe of pygmies to live around the waist band :embarassed:

Pheebs
02-09-2007, 20:40
I thought that too dym but I did a lot of comparing with 32 E and 34 DD's and 32 DD's... and for some reason 32 E seemed to be much bigger (when holding the bras together!)

THough the range of bras I was trying were from the "bustier" range and the "normal" range. "Normal" bras are actually smaller entirely. Scarily some of the E cups didn't even fit me (too small! Eak!)

Weird. Weird weird weird.

OOOh incidently, Picky found out for me the other day that "average D sized boobs weigh 6 - 8lbs!"

That means mine must weigh a tad more which means if I chop off my boobs I will be well below my ideal weight! Yaaaaaaay!

Tak - big butts are great - manufacturers uber suck and don't realise that.
