This video was posted up on Youtube a few weeks back http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aucAIvOMoNU and suffice to say a few Lotus people on Pistonheads got rather upset and after a bit of investigation using Facebook and Myspace their real life identities have been found out
http://gallery.seloc.org/albums/userpics/28532/q.bmp
Scott Hobson, Adam Smith and Danny Worby
Unfortionately the original thread on PH has been deleted due to excessive moderation/violent threats (delete depending on your opinion) but there is a good thread on SELOC and lots of people with media/Police contacts are doing their best to get charges presses and a nice story in the paper :D
Especially if you're a criminal!
Hope something comes of it. What a bunch of wallies.
Can't see them getting proper punishment, but any thig is better than getting away with it.

Well a few people have spoken to the police and they're getting some mixed messages but what it comes down to is that they can't prosecute without a complaint from the owner. People are trying to track down the owner of the car given it's rarity but it could take a while.
One of the guys ex-employers has been tracked down (left two weeks ago) and given the number of people who work in the city who are following this I suspect it's only a matter of time before his new employer is found.
Another one of he chaps is ex-military and the details have appeared on a number of military forums where the members seem less than impressed with his actions.
Pistonheads have washed their hands of the whole thing now but it is springing up on motoring and non-motoring forums all over the place. I really wouldn't want to be one of those 3 right now.

This is getting very good now....
No point putting liquid in uxbride on the hunt according to a spokesperson from there just now they were never employed any of them as a photograher and they are barred. ooops less places to go for your nights out boys
T'other side had a thread that has now been removed but it's still going on strong on SELOC
http://forums.seloc.org/viewthread.php?tid=133650 REGISTRATION REQUIRED
and Pistonheads have a 2nd thread which has tidbits of information.

That is absolutely disgusting. Peoples' complete lack of respect for oneanother's property never fails to amaze me. I'd never dream of touching someone else's car, let alone doing that!!!!!

I'd always wondered how long before someone posted a video of themselves doing something stupid and left enough information for them to be traced would take. I guess I've got my answer now. :)

I see people arrested for criminal damage about 10-15 times a day. The stupidity and pointlessness of it all bemuses me.
I love the way the internet catches people out like this. When the police can't or won't do anything it's great to see people take the law into their own hands :)

I very nearly did one day - came out of B&Q after getting stuck in a mahoosive queue to buy only one thing and some idiot had parked an SUV kinda thing on the pedestrian walkway (blocking it completely) as they seemingly couldn't be bothered parking a little bit further away. I really felt just like climbing onto it, walking right over the top and down the other side on the basis that he was being an inconsiderate **** so why shouldn't I - glad I didn't though as I'm sure I would have regretted it even if there hadn't been any repercussions :embarassed:
I think it was probably a Bank Holiday - nuff said ;D
As for the guys above I hope they get theirs

These guys are now properly screwed.......
Long story short, there's this bloke, who posts up the following video on his Myspace (his myspace is private, but this is public).
Cache of original page:
http://64.233.183.104/search?q=cache:sF8krIKOav8J:vids.myspace.com/index.cfm%3Ffuseaction%3Dvids.individual%26VideoID %3D15614701+lot %20%20us+trashed+in+london&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=uk
(this is the re-hosted video on my Youtube because the video was subsequently withdrawn after he figured out we were onto him)
Now, while his myspace was private, a bit of sleuthing dredged up one of the other two in the video (specifically the bloke in the white shirt, who we found to be called "Scott"). On his webpage he also had some photographs of the trio taken earlier that evening, throughout the early morning rampage shown in this video (and others of similar attacks on cars).
After some more digging we were able to find out more about them and identify them as Danny Worby (original poster), Scott Hobson and Adam Smith. While we found it hard to get details on Adam Smith, due to it being such a common name, we were able to find out Danny's Home address, and Phone number. We also tracked down Scott's place of employment (from a photo hosted up on his girlfriend's myspace of him at work), although this turned out to be a place of employment he left 2 weeks ago. This was usefl however as it enabled us to positively identify him from the photos and videos we sent them. We hope they'll give us the information necessary to track him down in person.
Scott (L) and Adam (R) The first two to jump on the car in the vid.

(insert more images of gormless yobs here)
Meanwhile we needed to try to find out where this took place to try and trace the owner of the Elise to try and let him/her know that there was an entire community trying to track down who did this to their car.
By reconstructing the events of the evening from their little timestamped sequence of photos we were able to plot their little trail of destruction across several affluent London suburbs.
With the aid of Google Earth and some keen local knowledge, we were able to track down what we thought was the location of the crime to here:

This was confirmed this morning with a visit:

A Mail drop has commenced in the area to find out who the owner of the car is as we desperatelyl want him/her to know that their damage doesn't have to go unpunished. Regardless of finding the victim or not, it's gone to the press we'd like to see it get some exposure. The Cops haven't done anything yet, although the Police are now starting to look into it. We're hoping with more media attention they'll have no option but to chase this case up and see it through to three successful convictions for vandalism, wilful damage and possibliy other charges from their behaviour in some of the other videos we have of them.
The noose is tightening around these blokes' necks.

and it's now made it onto a Norwegian news website. The Police are now properly investigating (couple of Police officers on SELOC) and The Sun are thinking of running a story.

I hope something is done to these people, it's disgusting
Personally I'd go to the times/independent/ more high brow papers than the sun too with the angle of 'internet catches criminals'. They'd love it.
Agreed, they'd probably analyse it a bit more and make a decent sized story out of it too imo :)

Most of the national press have been contacted but so far only The Sun have shown an interest as someone knows a reporter there. The London papers are also being contacted as they are more likely to run the story and god knows how many people in London read them on the tube everyday (well not today obviously, or tomorrow, or Thursday but you get the idea).

ok well if you want me to speak to the Times guy, let me know. I've worked with him several times and he's a well respected guy. :)
That would be great. The more media exposure the better.
I'd point him towards the thread running on SELOC as it documents the whole process though he will need to register. He may have trouble as there are a lot of people registering just to follow the progress since Pistonheads took down their thread. If he does let me know and I can get him pre-approved by a mod.

I'd also send him my post at the top of page 2 which gives a full update as of ~3pm today.
The sun doesn't interest me, it doesn't need a sensationalist newspaper, it needs a real one :)

4th Sept 11:30pm The Sun are aware of the story but are putting it on hold as it doesn't make much of a story without a conviction. The Boys in Blue have also been notified and are doing their 'thing' - we await feedback!!
4th Sept 08:13pm The Elise has been found.
I hear CID are looking for recruits...

Latest update
OIC has been in contact with Paul O and number of SELOC people. He, as the owner does, offers his thanks/congratulations to all concerned in this for their efforts and support.
The job is in good order with police and CPS and everything has/is being thoroughly investigated.
A proper update is expected with more detail at the beginning of November.
Still ongoing eh? Surely that evidence is fairly irefuteable? I hope they personally have to fork out for the damage costs each. It doesn't surprise me they may be army people.

Maybe one of our resident BiB can expand but I'd guess that once the CPS gets involved there'll be a whole lot of red tape to deal with hence the delay.
