So a week or so ago I tried an Innocent Orange, Banana and Pineapple smoothie and really liked it. I have a kind of issue with the textures of fruits, strawberries for example is a big no no. I just end up retching. Mum knows not to make me eat strawberries. Doesn't stop her from trying occasionally though.
I need to improve my diet and get more fruit and veg into my diet. Veg I have a way of working in but fruit is a bit harder because of the textures. If I can make my own fruit smoothies I'll be able to get around this issue. My Mum was quite amazed when she took the bottle away for recycling. She looked at it and then asked if I knew it was a smoothie and did I drink it all.
So I'm wondering if the good people of Boat Drinks have any fruit smoothie recipes to hand out. I haven't got a blender yet but will get one soon.
I'm a bit of a noob with fruit so I don't know how I'd prepare some stuff. I'd peel oranges and remove the core from apples?

Hehe thanks Lozza. Like I saw I'm new to this so I've no idea what fruits are good for this or not.
1 banana (or 2 if you want a thicker smoothie)
A handful of frozen summer fruit berry mix (you can get it from Tesco)
A large glug of apple juice to get it to whatever consistency you want
YUM!
That sounds delicious! I quite like mango, banana and pineapple.
edit: Crikey, you're up at the same ungodly hour as me!!

I would love to get back to making smoothies but unfortunately our blender died :( still haven't got round to getting a new one yet.
We tended to use 1 banana, 1 hand of Tesco frozen summer fruit and half a pint of milk.
In the blender with: 2 bananas, 100ml of pineapple juice, 100ml coconut milk (from a tin)

Haha, glad you remember me. Yep textures are my weakness. Hopefully strawberries blended up should be OK for me. The taste I'm OK with.

I know what you mean about textures, I can't stand salmon, the texture just doesn't sit will with me :(
How odd, I don't think I have any aversions to certain textures. Not something I'd ever considered before.
Blueberries always add a nice dark richness to a smoothie, and banana for thickness. Kiwi gives a bit of zing as well.
I make banana, soya milk and a teaspoon of cocoa smoothies. My kids love them and far better than chemical milkshakes.
Also strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, blackberry and apple.
If things need thinning I add a bit of orange/apple juice and if they need thickening I add a banana.
Basically I just like raiding the fruit bowl and making things up.

Agreed - blueberries rock!
I've never heard of the textures phobia/aversion before - how peculiar!! I guess there is pretty much an aversion to nearly everything it seems!
Roberta - soya milk?! Yech! Why ruin a smoothy/milkshake with that?!! :p

Cos she's a vegan ? ;)

It was a rhetorical question m'dear ;) My sis does them with soya milk as she's lactose intolerant - horrid stuff if you ask me, far too many female hormones for a start! :p
Smoothies are about the only thing I have for breakfast. My usual is 1 banana, 100ml orange juice, squirt of honey, natural yogurt & whatever berries I have available - blueberries are by far my favourite.

Some brands are foul, some are nice. Full of beany goodness!
I have to admit beans and root stuffs are good... I've just don't like the taste - probably because my mind's telling me it's milk, but obviously I'm not tasting milk!

Never mind, boobies wouldn't suit you anyway. ;)

Thanks for all the replies guys. I shall start experimenting as soon as I can find a decent blender nice and cheap.
