I thought we'd start a "quote of the day" thread here.

I'll get things started with Will in mind.....

"If at first you don't succeed, maybe skydiving's not for you."

Well I'll add in my usual quote....

"It is necessary to resign from the human race....
....With a forged signature of course."

I find it covers most things :D

My favourite:

"Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend.
Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read."

Everybody has a right to be stupid, but some people abuse the privelage (Joseph Stalin)

Nothing against our fine American members, I just happened to come across a few rather amusing quotes as I was going through my shortlist. I could just as easily do it on almost any subject, these happened to be grouped nicely though. :)

"America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between". - Oscar Wilde
"Half of the American people have never read a newspaper. Half never voted for President. One hopes it is the same half". - Gore Vidal
"The Americans will always do the right thing... After they've exhausted all the alternatives". - Winston Churchill

Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterwards. Vernon Sanders Law.

It's not cynicism - it's experience.

My current MSN quote:
It doesn't matter what we do until we accept ourselves. Once we accept ourselves, it doesn't matter what we do.
(Its gets changed every few weeks depending when I have an hour spare to browse thru quote sites)

From my sig:
We're our own dragons as well as our own heroes, and we have to rescue ourselves from ourselves
(Thinking of changing this one too but again, will depend when I have some time)

Also from my sig, written by a friend:
For what is a life if untested by fire
That’s why I wear these scars with pride

One of my own, made up whilst working at IBM. Applies to most working situations:

"Compromise is meeting halfway with someone who's wrong."

"Compromise is meeting halfway with someone who's wrong."

Knew a guy who always said...

"Compromise is no-one getting what they actually want"

Canada - It's like a loft apartment over a really good party.

I love deadlines. Especially the whooshing noise they make as they go flying by.

Life goes by pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

From Ferris Bueller's Day Off, bloody good quote though and is the reason I coast through life :D

I'm also quite fond of the following quote but it it probably too large for a signature so I'll never use it apart from now.

"Be fit for more than the thing you are now doing. Let everyone know that you have a reserve in yourself; that you have more power than you are now using. If you are not too large for the place you occupy, you are too small for it". - James A. Garfield

Edit: more of a top tip than a quote.
