View Full Version : Friend offered me his Nokia N95
for £100....
Orange offered it to him when he threatened to leave on his contract, but he doesn't like it and uses his old one still so offered it to me for £100.
In the box I have the phone, USB lead, Video/audio lead, headphones and manual. Picking up the Charger tomorrow. No CD thou, is that a problem?
Good deal?
I am on PAYG, and it works when i put in my sim card so that's fine. But would there be any restrictions on features wise?
I actually have it in my hand now, and it's scratchless, perfect condition.
I really want to take it but i am thinking if there is a catch somewhere.
Amazing deal! It's about 400 new.
Sounds like a cracking deal to me. I believe that all the software can be downloaded from nokia.com so you're not missing out by not having the cd.

Yeah sounds like a great deal, usually the retail for around £250 minimum, so great deal. Have a play and see if you like the phone if you do snatch his hand off ;)
I'll prob take it, it didn't crash on me so far playing with it. Thou there is a tiny hint of the hizz that's seems to be common. Been Googling user reviews, it seems that there's a 60/40 trend of people getting along with it or not. Guess I'll take my chances.
Have it, if you don't like it after a week or so then box it all up and eBay it. Sorted :)

QFT. It's a bargain and you'd almost certainly make your money back if you chuck it on the Bay.

Corrected ;)
From my time at the shop & chats to Chris the owner the N95 is a moby to stay away from. Nokia are being Arses these days with software releases & faults & probs are real common with them apparently.
I'd have it then put it on Fleabay & make a few quid

It's a great phone, it really does do everything, the SymbianOS is wonderful, the phone is held back by its terrible battery life. That really is the only problem, but to me its HUGE let down :( modern phones don't last long enough now days, let alone modern phones that are even worse!
I know its to be expected, you can't put wi-fi gps 3g and everything else under the sun in one product and expect 5 days usage, but until we can last more than a day reasonably meaning i may be able to do a weekend without being tethered i just can't see the appeal!

I can often go nearly a week without charging my W880i, and that's with making several quick calls each day, sending tons of texts, and occassionally listening to music on it. The Sony batteries have always been great in my experience.

3G has always been known to be a battery hog and the gps I'd imagine would make things even worse. My N70 didn't have gps but with the 3g turned on the battery got battered.
I'm looking forward to getting my hands on an K850i as that has 3G and it'll be interesting to see how that performs.

Same here but then i am a confirmed Sony E fan boy when it comes to mobiles. Nothing will do for me except a Sony E
Got it now, charged, and debranded (no more orange stuff) and it seems to be wonderful. :)
It's not as laggy as some people suggests, and hasn't crashed on me yet:p The screen is absolutely amazing ! So bright and clear, and the ability to play videos or view photos on either portrait or landscape by just sliding the screen is cool.
I am going to put it through its paces this weekend, will see how the battery fares and what its like using it daily.
Here is a quick pic :)

It is a nice phone agreed, but do you not find the lack of assisted slider is weird?
using it now to type this, online is great, tons of features, wonderful screen but you guys are right about the battery. I've charged it again already. That's with about 3 hours online with the screen on all the time. Hope there will be a bettery out soon, then this phone will be perfect. Because i just can't believe how much this thing can do.

I'm sorely tempted to get one of these now on my O2 upgrade rather than wait for the K850i to come out in a couple of weeks...
Oh the dilema!
not seen th k850 i but it'll take a hell of a phone to beat this for features.

Features wise the phone has everything you'd probably really need, apart from it being truly quad band etc... (i think) and xeon flash (getting picky!). But it's still huge, and a little slow and has a very medicore battery life. Thats what i'm hoping the N82 will fix (when it's out, they last mentioned Q4 this year, it's now looking like its Q1 next year).
But it's pushing phone tech to its limits, and bleeding edge always has its drawbacks, as people who have been/are interested in tech we all know this first hand probably!
