Not sure if people know but have just seen an advert stating that Top Gear is back on BBC2 tomorrow :D

Must remember to set the V+ box (was going to say videos but that is so last century ;D)

I don't care how gay hammond looked, that jacket he was wearing in the studio was great :D If anyone can find one like it, link it :p

Does Topgear need spoilers? Meh placed it in one anyway

I want to see 5thGear's response to burning down the TopGear set! Cool wall rocked!

Arrggghhh..... MY EYES!!!!
I sincerely hope that they burnt the seat in that Aston after that trip!

For the record - I would have the Aston over the other 2 without a shadow of a doubt.

I'd prefer an Aston with a few creature comforts if I would be driving it a lot, then again my view isn't really valid as I don't have a car history.

I find the Lotus Elise to have too many toys in it now. Hell the new ones have traction control - no thanks....

I think the Aston was a very bad choice for the circumstances. I suspect James May had the blinkers on when deciding what car to drive (if he actually had a choice) thinking that because it's a racing car that it has to be the best. If that drive had been in this country then yes, it would have been better but the weather made it unbearable.

Sure, it's nice to have a race-car but in that situation it was the totally wrong choice.

Hammond's hair was Gay & he looked like a hippy !
Aston would have been a good choice if it was the DB9 S.
Some how I always think that some things the boys do when they are dicking around on some excursion aboard is staged. Like the Aston not starting on the ferry !
How strange is it that women will now watch Top Gear, when I can remember my wife not liking any car programes, including Top Gear in the old format. Bit like what 5th Gear use to be. Now they how gone down the Top Gear road of alternative car program

shockingly bad episode, the program needs a serious revamp before it goes down the pan

not a decent motoring prog on TV at the moment :(

Have to admit, it was pretty much the same old stuff. I don't mind these little adventures they go on, but they do seem to take up too much of the show IMO.

It's just 3 blokes having a laugh now - which is what I watch it for :p
I'll be the first to admit I have no idea about cars, but I likes the look of them and the noises they make, but Top Gear is really good entertainment.

Totally agree

It just that 3 grown men dicking around in, on cars is such good viewing :D

Plus the cars they review are not the ones we can afford, and the ones we can afford get slated :'(

But we still watch it, cos we like it ;)

hammonds hair is still Gay though;D

I do knon what you mean, it seems the shows are now of them dicking around doing some task / tasks ;D
The whole car thing seems to by product now of them messing around.
Again they have made cars very entertaining for girls to watch. ;D

Also I wish they would review more affordable cars for the masses :)

Desmo

Enjoyed last nights show..had me laughing lots. The thing that detracts from it for me though is that it's made to look like it's all just happening but you can tell it's scripted...just annoys me a bit. Entertaining though.

And I guess that's what Top Gear has become...an entertainment show and not a car show. And that disappoints me a bit.

Haly
15-10-2007, 10:46
It was good fun but I also wished they'd reviewed a car or two. I wouldn't have particularly wanted them to review affordable cars (if I wanted to see reviews of cars I could afford I'd read it online, not that I can afford any anyhow :p) but would have been nice to see them review something, even if it was something I could only ever dream of owning :D

Will
15-10-2007, 11:27
I like the comparissons they do. I'd love to write to them and ask them to see how fast my car could go round the track :D It is an entertainment show more than a car show now, well it's a motoring magazine really - more cars please!

Agreed. I love the aesthetics of cars, not the engineering. Last weeks episode makes me want to sell my Corsa, buy something fun and drive to Europe. I'm seriously considering it too. However this weeks doesn't make me want to turn it into a boat ;) Bloody good tv though.

Mat

Is it just me or do they seem to get all the better looking female members of the audience and get them to stand at the front so that they are in camera shot behind one of the presenters?!

I love the challenges, no matter how staged they are. It's a great dynamic how Hammond and Clarkson are eternally at conflict, but team up to rip into May.

Will
16-10-2007, 21:40
I found it entertaining sticking two fingers up at the law - that's what JC does best! :D It was a bit of a statement, and a bit of a tongue in cheek go at the law, it really isn't worthy of all this fuss IMO.

Yeah - or a member of the audience etc...

No. Don't. My immediate boss at work got tickets for a show last year and he said it was terrible, he'd never do that again. Hours and hours of standing around for very little entertainment. He said that most of the stuff didn't seem scripted and there was very little re-shooting, but it just took ages to get it all set up and was very tiring.

At the recording he went to, they made no effort to move people around in the crowd for better totty placement, it was just a rush as everyone tried to get to the front.

Piggymon
19-10-2007, 22:02

Best not bring it down our road then. It might lose a kilogram or two getting down here. :)

I loved that episode and his review of the civic pretty much summed up what I thought it would be like. Apart from the looks I did like the old one for it's pure hooning ability.

Those luxo estates were pretty sweet, the merc's faster than the m5 estate (in a straight line, it has nothing on it on the fun stuff) - that's immense - then again that AMG 6.2L engine is pretty brutal.

A good episode, but yes what is up with his hair?! :/

Dallaglio was a fantastic guess - shame he's a fat bastard else he'd have been faster :D LOVED what he called football - the Andrex Premiership* - best name ever, it's so true! ;D

And did anyone like the joke last night? The rally cars section where he got a bit too close and the screen went fuzzy but afterwards you could see body parts all over the track. ;D
