I just got back from a week in Paphos, Cyprus. Well needed break and here are some pictures I took.

1) Tomb of the Kings, interesting shaped rock:

2) Tomb of the Kings, hand cut tomb in solid rock. It was near dark and this was with no flash, just a steady hand:

3) Paphos old town, window in the side of a church being renovated:

4) This is the tower from the church:

5) View of the rocky breakers from the top of the fort at the edge of the harbour:

6) Inside the fort looking up with super wide angle:

7) Mosaic at medieval church archaeological site:

8) Carved column top at same site:

9) Christian church erected at a later date on the same site as above:

10) More mosaic, really well preserved for 1000 years old and you can just walk all over it:

11) Gnarly column, I just loved the texture in the stone:

12) They put a lot of the columns back up so you can get an idea of what the place was like before it was destroyed by an earthquake:

13) Sunset over the harbour, this was beautiful to watch. The block is the fort from 5 and 6:

14) This is a fort on the main archaeological site. I thought it was a chapel at first because there are undergound vaults cut in the solid rock. Dates back to 1000 years ago and they have put some of it back up so you can picture the scene. Through the arch is the deserted lighthouse:

15) The fort in the harbour at night. The sky was too beautiful to not photograph:

16) Last one, this is the main church in the town. No details unfortunately but it's recent and we couldn't go inside:

Ahh Cyprus - how I love that country. It's my 3rd home :) I'm glad you had fun - I love it. Paphos is a little too touristy for me too many ex-pats, but you can find some little gems, and the architecture, and archaeological sites and historical sights are amazing. So much history, so much culture, so many wonderful people and amazing food. I'm still very tempted to move back there and just have a good life for a few years.....

Paphos is way too touristy for me. It was a bit of a shock, I had no idea. Was really looking forward to some trad Greek grub but there's none of that left there :(

Would love to go to other places there though. The weather was spot on, about 30 degrees and completely clear during the day and dropping right off during the night so it was comfortable to sleep.

You should have told me, I'd have met up with you before you left and told you all about it. Cyprus is another home to me I'd have loved to share what I knew about it with you. :) Did you go for a swim? The sea's still warm at this time of the year!

I really really would love to have a mini meet there sometime - I love sharing my experiences with people. Hence why I'm gutted I missed the French trips :(

Did indeed go in the sea, it was warmer than the pool

The pool was too cold, it made my willy try and hide :o

You need to spend some time in the south part of the island (the best part ;)).
