Just watched the trailer (http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/iamlegend/large.html) for this after not knowing anything about it and it looks really good. Kinda reminds me of 28 days later/Resident Evil but looks to be a different slant to it. I think the side-kick rocks :D
Oh found a newer trailer here (http://www.movieweb.com/news/21/23821.php)
I'm really looking forward to this. I love these sorts of films.
My first thoughts were that it was 28 days later set in New York. Looks good and could be worth a watch :)
Just watched and enjoyed this :)

I first thought 28 days later was Blue Gender (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=253). I really enjoyed I am Legend.

I am going to have to watch this even though i think Will Smith suxs & he is about the only person in it until the *SPOILER We have all seen the trailer though a ;)* other things turn up.
Anyway the trailer looks Awesome just because of the epic achievement clearing Manhattan island (is it?) & all the graphics etc.
As an old git i can honestly say Films are Amazing these days. When i was a lad i used to watch Dickie Davis in Black & white doing the sport on a Saturday with my Grandad. Then they invented cars & electricity & all this has grown around me :D

watched this last night and really enjoyed it.
I was really looking forward to this but I didn't enjoy it much. I need to watch it again without a slight pause every second where the frame rate was converted (yes, it was the screener I saw) but I found the story dull and the CGI pretty rubbish. The pause/flicker thing didn't help as I was frustrated within a couple of minutes of it starting and that just gave me the hump for the whole movie.
Ooo - just discovered its "loosely" based on a book (yes I never realised this before :o )

I love Will Smith so I'm looking forward to this just for that if anything else. God that sounds gay.... :o

Just watched this :)
Was the screener as well but seemed pretty perfect for me (Feek sucks).
Very much enjoyed it :D
I can imagine there were a few bits that you didn't like Tak :p

Indeed. The book was also the basis of the cult film The Omega Man, starring Charlton Heston.
As for being like 28 Days Later, the book and original film far pre-date this so, if anything, 28 Days is the one doing the copying here.
Having seen IAL, I still prefer The Omega Man - a true classic and still well worth watching if you've not seen it.

Gathering a copy now and already have a copy of the book which I'll be reading after I finish Making Money (which means my plan of reading all the Discworld novels before anything else has failed :().
Hollywood really butchered this movie, they just can't handle a sad ending.
Will Smith is good in it, I like watching him on screen, just wish he had better material to work with.
I don't like Will Smith but the first 15 minutes of the film look set to be quite good. The Mustang scene at the start is such a lame attempt at product placement though, it's really starting to annoy me.
I liked it, but it could have been so much better :( There were so many directions they could have taken this (and the book had the best idea) but they didn't seem to want to commit to anything. Was he mad? Was he evil? Were the zombies organised? Who set the trap? What was the religion crap all about? I would have loved it to expose the arrogance of humans more but meh! God forbid there be an intellectual backdrop to a blockbuster :(
Pebs you hit the nail on the head for me. Good film, good choice of actor, all the great possibilities there, but it didn't meet its potential.
Watched Omega Man this morning. Wow.. far better film in some regards, but in others a bit "meh"... at least they were prepared to kill off the lead character effectively
Paul is refusing to watch this in disgust at the Hollywood ending when he loves the book.
I'm waiting for a decent HD copy to appear and then I'll take a gander.

I watched it a couple of nights ago, and was quite disappointed.
It started well, meandered through an average plot and ended disappointingly.
It could have been so much better.
****ing scary :(
But what I did see from watching behind my scarf I was a bit disappointed with the whole storyline.
I was **** scared so it was good in that respect :p

:(
I cannot believe you thought that was scary :(
BB I am disappointed...
it was dull, have you seen the Resident Evil films? by comparison they are far worse
I've read the book now, the film pales after that.
Ah... it has zombies in it?
Wont be watching it then - thanks for the warning :D

Actually, as far as I'm aware it's a homage to the Omega Man where (if my memory serves me correctly) Charlton Heston does exactly the same thing.
I enjoyed the movie, although the ending was a bit of a disappointment. Could've been better, but I didn't leave the cinema wishing I still had my six quid in my pocket.
:(

Mr FS... I am a typical girl... therefore ANYTHING scares me... I still cannot sleep without thinking about the film... the scene when they're in the bath and there is screaming and thumping... OMG I almost shat my pants. Then the hoodie guy in the street... things like that creep me out... the actual people probably wouldn't have as it is obvious CGI - but I hid from them anyways from what I saw of them they reminded me of the graphics from the Ressie games let alone the movie (which of course I couldn't watch either ) its sudden noise and movement that **** me, not necessarily gore and bad CGI...
One thing that I noticed that there were no corspes at all... surely there would have been???
BB x
I do sometimes but I'm more a jumpy type person - I won't be scared but I'll jump out of might seat, even if I know its coming (this makes people around me giggle :o )
The end of Carrie makes me jump every time.

The virus did indeed kill the vast majority of the population, however the infected fed on them and also hunted and fed on the immune. I suppose the infected simply dragged them all into their lairs and consumed them during all those years Neville remained in the city doing his research.

Saw this the other day and I thought this too. The trailer is all the best bits tbh.

As iCrag said 13 years passed since the outbreak and when we join the film so I'm sure tigers and stuff will have consumed what was left.
Yeah but no trace NOTHING at all no blood remains?! Surely there would have been something!?!
Still having nightmares :(

Watched this last night, and its a poor attempt unfortunately, the film never really got going anywhere, i remember with 30 mins to go thinking, where can they take this without making things worse? They should have explored so much more. Booooo :(
Would have been much better if they had gone into how the 'virus' had infected everyone, what it did, how it spread etc....
Would have probably had more nightmares though :(
BB x
IIRC it was when Will Smith was doing his "There is no God" speech to the chick, i.e. counting down how many people died, what happened to those that survived etc
Thought it was a decent film but one that had so much more potential than was actually utilised, the final half ended all too soon, would have liked to have seen more exploration of the organisational structure of the infected, more tension/chases and more exploration of who is good/bad etc. Enjoyable watch though!

now how do we know that? was it in the film? If it was, I missed it. It should have been explained so much more. I thought he'd been there 3 years ;D
It said on the screen 13 years later :p how did you miss it? then again have I read 13 somewhere else ;D Infact I'm totally wrong 2012-2009 is 3 :o
i thought it was yubbish.
the CG was guff and great all at the same time. the stuff they added in was rubbish. the stuff they took out was outstanding.
I Am ... Watching it now
not that bad so far... not great, but not great.
Bit of a thread revival after a couple of months but I grabbed a good HD version of this and have just watched it again.
I was very disappointed after I first saw it as I said above. I've since read the book.
Watching the film again this evening was like watching something completely different - I think because it didn't have the annoying stop-start pausing that it had before transformed it from a film that irritated me greatly to one which I quote enjoyed. I had the knowledge of the book to go from as well but even so, I found it a good view. Easy to watch, not a huge amount to think about and a enjoyable way to kill nearly two hours.
Not sure about the ending compared to the book, but I can forgive it that.
