Just a warning if any of you were thinking of upgrading in the near future, do it now! Since AM2 is now ddr2 as is conroe, the days of ddr are numbered. The shops are running out of half decent stuff damn fast.

I just managed to nab some mushkin redline from http://pc-memory-upgrade.co.uk/
after my crucial borkex did what it does best.

I'll be sticking with my opteron and x1900xtx well into next year as it can run everything thats out at the moment maxxed out :)

Nicely done, I got the borkex while everyone thought they were still the daddy.... then the dieing started :( I'll still rma them but there is still the chance in a couple of months time that they go again

edit: son of a  the flaming stuff is passing memory tests this morning wtf? Now i'm pissed, its going in the server until it dies

Sorted.

Bought 1Gb of this from MM last week. It's going in my new gaming rig along with a 4000+ San Diego (one of the OEM ones on sale at the other place - they're supposed to be good clockers) and an X1900XT - can't wait to see how it all performs :D (it will, of course, be folding in it's spare time ;) ).

Hoping to get the SD running at 250X12 and the TCCD, at least, 1:1 at 2-2-2-5.
Also ordered an Accelero cooler for the X1900XT to get that clocked up a bit.

I also have 2Gb of Mushkin Redline in my collection. I thought it was duff but it turns out it doesn't like my DFI board  Works perfectly well in the Asus board with no errors, whereas, in the DFI it was failing test 5 repeatedly

uhoh, what dfi board were you running the redline in? First time i've heard of the redline being picky though

DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR EXPERT

Same here.

It would only work in that board on a very low divider - kept getting BSODs otherwise. I put it in the Asus board and it's running away happily at about 270MHz.

Put XMS3500LL in the DFI and it worked as it should

I've ordered a DFI Ultra D board from the MM as well, so I will try the Redline in that to see if it does the same.

I don't overclock, so having the benefit of such tight timings is the next best thing (yes, I really did notice the difference the tighter timings made). :)

I can see your point, I will be keeping these at 250mhz running 3-3-2-8 :) Apparently cas 2.5 is doable at those speeds as well.

Well the borkex has now completly gone, testing them one stick at a time still results in errors. I have some old corsair 3200 xl so I'll see what that can do

Cas2.5 is indeed doable at 250MHz.
Mine is running 3-3-3-8 at 270MHz.

It may do a bit better but I haven't got around to having a proper play with it yet.

Hmm :( I've unfortunately got 4 x 256mb and used up all my slots.
Then again if its days really are numbered I guess I'd better consider it :/

I expect some kind of DDR will be around for a while yet, but it'll get progressively less common, with the good stuff (Corsair et. al.) becoming less common very much quicker than the random no-brand stuff. In fact, I believe quite a few have gone EOL already.

I'll see.....which really means I'll see what payday is like on Friday because my payday days are numbered now

Don't do anything rash until I've had a rummage in my box (ooer :p ) when I get home at the weekend - We may be able to come to some arrangement given your huge collection of games and my rather significant collection of "spare" hardware ;)

I am running on 512mb of ram  and have been considering an upgrade for a while now. If its getting tight, I might have to act a bit sooner than I would like, which is a problem...

BBQ meet or ram... :p
